The Cass Corridor, in Detroit, Michigan, contains the Cass Park Historic District and the Cass-Davenport Historic District. The corridor's main street is Cass Avenue, which runs parallel with M-1 (Woodward Avenue), a main Detroit artery running north towards suburban neighborhoods. Though Cass runs from Congress Street, ending a few miles farther north at West Grand Boulevard, the Cass Corridor generally is defined as between Interstate 75 (I-75) at its southern end and Wayne State University to the north, and stretches from Woodward to the east and to the west: John C. Lodge (M-10 service drive) north of Temple, and Grand River Avenue south of Temple.
Significant landmarks include the Detroit Masonic Temple (the world's largest building of its kind),Cass Technical High School, and the Metropolitan Center for High Technology are all located along Cass.
Culturally, the Cass Corridor is a significant district. Creem, which billed itself as "America's Only Rock 'n' Roll Magazine," had its headquarters in the area. The student population contributes to the bohemian atmosphere in Cass Corridor. The artistic community has produced a number of significant artists, including The White Stripes, who played their first show at the Gold Dollar. Cass Corridor is also the location of the annual Dally in the Alley arts festival.
Third Man Records is an independent record label founded by Jack White in Detroit, Michigan, in 2001. Third Man established its first physical location—a combination record store, performance venue, and headquarters for the label—in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2009. The label opened a Detroit branch location in November 2015.
Jack White founded Third Man Records in Detroit, Michigan, in 2001. White originally purchased the building to store his gear, and some plans to release the old White Stripes 45s. Third Man, which releases albums and singles primarily on vinyl record, established its first physical location in Nashville, Tennessee, on March 11, 2009. The Nashville location serves as a record store, label offices and live venue. It includes The Blue Room (a live performance venue and screening room for The Light and Sound Machine, a monthly film series co-hosted by The Belcourt Theater), a photo studio and darkroom, a storage facility for master recording tapes, and the label warehouse. The Blue Room is the only venue in the world to record live shows direct-to-acetate, producing a vinyl master in real time. To commemorate the opening of Third Man Records in Nashville, White debuted his new project, The Dead Weather, performing a short set for the 150 invited guests. The label's motto is "Your Turntable's Not Dead."

Welcome to the West Coast Lumber Company, Chris Jacobs’ freelanced HO scale small town logging railroad. Chris and his wife Deanna live in Vancouver, Washington and he models the logging railroad in the Pacific Northwest. Chris’ layout is a compact 9x12 feet (2.74x3.66 meters) and is built in his garage. Chris models the town of Cascade Junction, which has an industrial area where the West Coast Lumber Company is located as well as a downtown area typical of a small town in the 1950s. Chris modeled a mountain above town which the trains travel through in a series of tunnels. He also modeled a waterfall on the mountainside, with the river traveling through the industrial area. If you would like to see more layouts you can sign up for our free magazine here. https://goo.gl/aTvoxz Thank you...

Serafina and the Black Cloak is an exciting new book from Disney Hyperion about an unusual girl who lives secretly in the basement of the grand Biltmore Estate. Serafina has strange amber eyes, a mane of streaked, lion-like hair, and other peculiar characteristics. Her pa has warned her to keep herself hidden from the fancy folk above, so she prowls through the darkened corridors at night, sneaking through the hidden doors and secret passageways of the vast house. The night is her domain and hers alone. But one night, she sees a sinister stranger in a black cloak capture a little girl. When other children at the estate start disappearing, Serafina faces a difficult decision: Should she step out into the light to save these children? Should she risk everything by approaching the young Vande...

Third Man Records has officially made history in celebration of their 7th Anniversary by launching the first record played in Space. The launch of the ICARUS CRAFT, a custom “space-proof” turntable attached to a high-altitude balloon, occurred on July 2nd just outside of Marsing, Idaho, spinning Third Man’s THREE MILLIONTH record pressed. The ICARUS CRAFT was designed and engineered by Kevin Carrico, longtime friend and electronics consultant for Third Man Records, and launched with the invaluable assistance of SATINS (Students and Teachers in Near Space.) The goal of our mission was to send a vinyl record up as high as possible and document it being played there. Near space (our ultimate destination) is a regular destination for NASA (it’s the closest we come to mimicking the atmosphere...
Here is a slice of life from 2000 on the rooftop of Sheridan Court in Detroit's Cass Corridor with artist/musicians Paul Steele, Rodriguez and I exploring a day in the life like many others we had together.... In a wide range of situations I had been making random field recordings since '98 all meant to be raw artistic documentations.. Paul was the building manager and made it possible for a steady stream of artists, musicians, poets and more to pass through the Sheridan Court for several decades.. many gatherings, daily spontaneous art in all forms. We tried to involve as many people as we could and those that came over were very inspired and we were making vibrations.. God Bless Steele, Rodriguez and the Corridor... pimples, scars and all this is what it is

Our only official Live album on I 94 records, Detroit, MI, USA (2000).This was recorded by Neil Yee on October 19, 1999 at the Gold Dollar, Detroit (which turned out to be the last show of that tour as our van DIED, and it took over a week to fix it). Mixed by Neil Yee and Jim Rinn (Jim and his fmily took us in for the week that we waited for the van to get fixed. We love those people!). There were 450 copies of the CD made, plus another 100 that also had a bonus disc (another live show in Detroit also being uploaded) included. Baby makes me bleed
Honey makes me sweat
Makes me do all the things I've forsaken
Baby makes me fly
Makes me wonder why
I am abanned in this sweet intoxication
I'm glad to go
fast rollercoaster slow
Baby, baby, kiss me harder
Baby, baby, make it longer
Honey, I would let you take me for a ride
Baby, baby, make me weaker
Don't you ever make me wiser
Honey snap your finger I'll be by your side
I will let it slide
Yeah, I'll let it slide
I will wave on my way around starvation
Wrapped around your wrist
That is what I missed
So remember this crazy elevation
I'm glad to go
fast rollercoaster slow
Baby, baby, kiss me harder
Baby, baby, make it longer
Honey, I would let you take me for a ride
Baby, baby, make me weaker
Don't you ever make me wiser
Honey snap your finger I'll be by your side
I'm glad to go
fast, I mean, rollercoaster slow
Baby, baby, kiss me harder
Baby, baby, make it longer
Honey, I would let you take me for a ride
Baby, baby, make me weaker
Don't you ever make me wiser
Honey snap your finger I'll be by your side
Baby, baby, kiss me harder
Baby, baby, make it longer
Honey, I would let you take me for a ride
Baby, baby, make me weaker
Don't you ever make me wiser
