In the not too distant future strange craft will zoom across our skies. These are not UFOs, they’re not alien craft from another planet, these are machines developed and built by human engineers and designers. Today’s science fiction will become tomorrow’s reality. These are the aircraft of the future!
What you’re about to see is a glimpse into the future of aviation. Winged aircraft as we know them will soon be a thing of the past. Across the world designers are racing to create fantastic new aircraft that can fly humans higher, faster, and further than ever before. New military designs, airliners that can take us to the edge of space and around the planet in minutes, and new propulsion systems that will make the jet engine obsolete forever.
One casualty of this race for the future sits abandoned on an airfield, this fighter was more advanced than aircraft in service, but was already obsolete. It was the loser in the engineering competition of the century. In 1985 the United States Air Force demanded a new fighter plane, one that would incorporate the most up-to-date advances in stealth and agility. Two multibillion dollar designs by rival companies took to the air in a fight to the death. One was the Northrop YF-23, it had diamond shaped wings. The other was the Lockheed YF-22. The winner would become the backbone of the US Air Force, the loser a billion dollar pile of scrap.
A fierce fight was about to take place between the two most advanced fighter aircraft ever built. The test pilots fought to outperform each other. But after the YF-23’s wheels touched the ground it never flew again. With its greater performance and agility, the YF-22 was chosen to take the US Air Force into the next millennium. It is a truly remarkable craft, it is able to reach speeds and perform manoeuvres far beyond that of the front line fighter of the time, the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle.

Science fiction is a genre of fiction dealing with imaginary but more or less plausible (or at least non-supernatural) content such as future settings, futuristic science and technology, space travel, aliens, and paranormal abilities. Exploring the consequences of scientific innovations is one purpose of science fiction, making it a "literature of ideas".
Science fiction is largely based on writing rationally about alternative possible worlds or futures. It is similar to, but differs from fantasy in that, within the context of the story, its imaginary elements are largely possible within scientifically established or scientifically postulated laws of nature (though some elements in a story might still be pure imaginative speculation).
The settings for science fiction are often contrary to known reality, but most science fiction relies on a considerable degree of suspension of disbelief, which is facilitated in the reader's mind by potential scientific explanations or solutions to various fictional elements. Broadly, sci-fi (like Star Trek) makes us believe that it could happen in our universe as technology advanced. Science fantasy (like Star Wars) wants us to embrace fantastic elements like knights and magic laid over a hi-tech backdrop with space ships and laser guns. Games have a ton of great science fantasy games, but even the common trope of the gritty space marine tends to be just a knight in different armor. Games like Mass Effect, Fallout, and System Shock come close because they're built on scientific foundations (humanoid enemies, the apocalypse, and so on) but they still give you magical powers or indulge in scientific hand-waves. Meanwhile, if the goal of science fiction is - as John W. Campbell once said - to "make the marvelous seem mundane, and then the mundane will seem marvelous" then many games let us down by forcing us to experience the same overblown things repeatedly until we get tired of them. (Looking at you, Final Fantasy summons!) But good mundanity gets us to imagine what technology would look like (and do for us) in our regular lives. PlotAt a motivation seminar, the smart instructor Marius comes up against an awkward participant. Jörg Karsunke, an entrepreneur from the eastern part of Germany, simply refuses to understand the straight-forward principles of "mental syntax". Marius desperately tries to teach him how to open a door. Not just open it, but to do so with the right attitude and invincible will to conquer the new room that lies behind that door. When the door finally opens, no one can remember either of them. The world has forgotten them. And what is even worse: From now on they have to stick together.

In the not too distant future strange craft will zoom across our skies. These are not UFOs, they’re not alien craft from another planet, these are machines developed and built by human engineers and designers. Today’s science fiction will become tomorrow’s reality. These are the aircraft of the future!
What you’re about to see is a glimpse into the future of aviation. Winged aircraft as we know them will soon be a thing of the past. Across the world designers are racing to create fantastic new aircraft that can fly humans higher, faster, and further than ever before. New military designs, airliners that can take us to the edge of space and around the planet in minutes, and new propulsion systems that will make the jet engine obsolete forever.
One casualty of this race for the future sits abandoned on an airfield, this fighter was more advanced than aircraft in service, but was already obsolete. It was the loser in the engineering competition of the century. In 1985 the United States Air Force demanded a new fighter plane, one that would incorporate the most up-to-date advances in stealth and agility. Two multibillion dollar designs by rival companies took to the air in a fight to the death. One was the Northrop YF-23, it had diamond shaped wings. The other was the Lockheed YF-22. The winner would become the backbone of the US Air Force, the loser a billion dollar pile of scrap.
A fierce fight was about to take place between the two most advanced fighter aircraft ever built. The test pilots fought to outperform each other. But after the YF-23’s wheels touched the ground it never flew again. With its greater performance and agility, the YF-22 was chosen to take the US Air Force into the next millennium. It is a truly remarkable craft, it is able to reach speeds and perform manoeuvres far beyond that of the front line fighter of the time, the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle.

There's a difference between Science Fiction and Science Fantasy. Broadly, sci-fi (like Star Trek) makes us believe that it could happen in our universe as technology advanced. Science fantasy (like Star Wars) wants us to embrace fantastic elements like knights and magic laid over a hi-tech backdrop with space ships and laser guns. Games have a ton of great science fantasy games, but even the common trope of the gritty space marine tends to be just a knight in different armor. Games like Mass Effect, Fallout, and System Shock come close because they're built on scientific foundations (humanoid enemies, the apocalypse, and so on) but they still give you magical powers or indulge in scientific hand-waves. Meanwhile, if the goal of science fiction is - as John W. Campbell once said - to "make the marvelous seem mundane, and then the mundane will seem marvelous" then many games let us down by forcing us to experience the same overblown things repeatedly until we get tired of them. (Looking at you, Final Fantasy summons!) But good mundanity gets us to imagine what technology would look like (and do for us) in our regular lives. That's called mechanical transference, and it's something hard sci-fi is really good at creating.

It takes place in the year 2020 in England, after dragons have reawakened. The film grossed about $82 million on a $60 million budget.[2]
Soon after the new millennium, during construction on the London Underground, workers penetrate an underground cave from which a huge hibernating dragon awakens, incinerating the construction workers.
