Obudu Plateau is a plateau found on the Oshie Ridge of the Sankwala Mountain range, in Cross River state,south east of Nigeria. The plateau is found in Obanliku local government area of the Cross river state. The plateau extends towards Nigeria's south eastern border.

The Sankwala mountain ranges were first explored in 1949 by McCaughley, a Scottish rancher who camped out in the mountains for a month, before returning with Hugh Jones – a fellow rancher who, in 1951, together with Crawfeild developed a cattle ranch on the plateau known as the Obudu Cattle Ranch. Although the ranch has been through troubles since, it has very recently been rehabilitated to its former glory by the Protea South African Hotel chain.

The Obudu Plateau is spread over an area of over 40 square miles (100 km²) and rises to about 5200 ft (1,584 metres) above sea level. The plateau is a giant massif in its own right and its peak reaches a height of about 1,716 metres (5,630 ft) above sea level. The plateau is known to be a habitat of rare species of birds.

Obudu is a Local Government Area in Cross River State, Nigeria, a hotspot in Nigeria's tourism.

The area features a tourist resort, the Obudu Cattle Ranch, which also hosts an annual race in the hilly surroundings – the Obudu Ranch International Mountain Race. The town of Obudu is downstream from the Obudu Dam, which also provides recreational facilities.

Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan, GCFR, BNER, GCON (born 20 November 1957) is the 14th Head of State and current President of Nigeria. Prior to his role as President, he served as Governor of Bayela State and Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Jonathan is a member of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP).

Jonathan was born in what is now Bayelsa State to a family of canoe makers. Jonathan holds a B.S. degree in Zoology in which he attained Second Class Honours. He also holds an M.Sc. degree in Hydrobiology and Fisheries biology, and a Ph.D. degree in Zoology from the University of Port Harcourt. After earning his degree, he worked as an education inspector, lecturer, and environmental-protection officer, until he decided to enter politics in 1998.

Jonathan and his wife, Patience, have two children. He is a Christian and comes from the Ijaw ethnic group.

Former President Umaru Yar'Adua died on 5 May 2010. Goodluck Jonathan was sworn in as Yar'Adua's successor on the following day, becoming Nigeria's 14th Head of State, to serve until the next election, in 2011, at which time he could elect to run again, which he has done. Upon taking office, he cited anti-corruption, power and electoral reform as focuses of his administration. He stated that he came to office under "very sad and unusual circumstances".
