The Bauchi State government says it is set to resuscitate cotton ginnery in the state to complement Federal Government's effort at reviving the nation's ailing textile industries.
Dr Dauda Abdullahi, the Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Agriculture, disclosed this to newsmen during an advocacy visit to cotton farmers in Kirfi Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday.
Abdullahi said that the state government had set up a cotton revival committee to mobilise the citizens to engage in massive cotton production that would serve as raw materials for the proposed ginnery in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that in 1951, a cotton ginnery was established at Misau under the British Cotton Growing Association but was not sustained due to poor production of the commodity by farmers in the state.
The Misau Ginnery processed cotton produced in the former Bauchi province and other ginneries in the former Northern Nigeria and was a huge source of foreign exchange for the province and the region in general.
Abdullahi added that the new ginnery would be operated under the public-private partnership agreement with reputable experts in the marketing and processing of cotton to make it viable and of international standard.
He explained that the state would also collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to address the production, processing and marketing of the product from the ginnery.

Bauchi is a city in northeast Nigeria, the capital of Bauchi State, of the Bauchi Local Government Area within that State, and of the traditional Bauchi Emirate. The city has a population of 316,173 (2004). The Local Government Area covers an area of 3,687 km2 and had a population of 493,810 at the time of the 2006 Census.
The city was founded by Yaqub ibn Dadi, the only non-Fulani flag-bearer of the Sokoto Empire. The name was derived from a hunter called Baushe, who advised Yaqub to build his city west of the Warinje mountain. In return Yaqub promised to name his city after the hunter.
Abubakar Tafawa Balewa is buried in the city, while the Yankari National Park is 110 KM from the state capital. The city lies on the Port Harcourt – Maiduguri railway line.
Bauchi was originally served by a narrow gauge 762 mm (2 ft 6 in) Light railway, but this was later converted to the normal gauge of 1,067 mm (3 ft 6 in).

Bauchi State is a State in northern Nigeria. Its capital is the city of Bauchi. The state was formed in 1976 when the former North-Eastern State was broken up. It originally included the area now in Gombe State, which became a distinct state in 1996.
The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University is located in the capital city Bauchi.
What is now known as Bauchi was until 1976 a province in the then North-Eastern State of Nigeria. According to the 2006 census, the state has a population of 4,653,066.
Bauchi state has gone through tremendous transformation over the years. During the colonial era up to independence, it formed part of the Bauchi-Plateau of the then Northern Region, until the 1967 state creation exercise, when the Bauchi, Borno, and Adamawa provinces constituted the former North-Eastern State.
With the creation of Bauchi state in 1976, then comprising present Bauchi and Gombe states, it included 16 Local Government Areas. The number of Local Government Areas in the then Bauchi state was increased to 20 and later to 23. However, in 1997 when Gombe state was created out of Bauchi and additional local governments were created in the country, Bauchi state was left with 20 Local Government Areas as shown below.

The Bauchi State government says it is set to resuscitate cotton ginnery in the state to complement Federal Government's effort at reviving the nation's ailing textile industries.
Dr Dauda Abdullahi, the Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Agriculture, disclosed this to newsmen during an advocacy visit to cotton farmers in Kirfi Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday.
Abdullahi said that the state government had set up a cotton revival committee to mobilise the citizens to engage in massive cotton production that would serve as raw materials for the proposed ginnery in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that in 1951, a cotton ginnery was established at Misau under the British Cotton Growing Association but was not sustained due to poor production of the commodity by farmers in the state.
The Misau Ginnery processed cotton produced in the former Bauchi province and other ginneries in the former Northern Nigeria and was a huge source of foreign exchange for the province and the region in general.
Abdullahi added that the new ginnery would be operated under the public-private partnership agreement with reputable experts in the marketing and processing of cotton to make it viable and of international standard.
He explained that the state would also collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to address the production, processing and marketing of the product from the ginnery.

Apparently the riggers were recruited to massively thumb print ballot papers for the candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). The PDP has some contradictory positions on the recently concluded April general elections, first was that the elections were "free and fair", in fact, they claimed it was the "best" in Nigeria's history. Secondly, they came out recently stating that they intend to prove that about 6 million votes were products of massive rigging by underage voters in the north.
Overall, they have admitted tacitly and implicitly that the elections were not free nor fair, but most importantly, it shows that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did a shoddy job in the last election. Once again, Nigerians have been duped by Jega and his handlers.
Finally, it is now clear that underage voters were freely used across the board in the northern states to rig last April election.

The Federal Ministry of Works has started the reconstruction of public infrastructure in the north-east region to compliment other government agencies in rebuilding the area that has been devastated by the Boko Haram insurgency. In order to fulfill this "calling" in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, "glide" over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and "see" the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.

The 34 kilometre Bauchi-Gombe highway was in a deplorable state, as it had been devastated by erosion.
Mr Kigbu said the zonal flag-off would address some of the challenges plaguing the north-east.
Beside the erosion threatened road, the Managing Director of FERMA, speak on the general state of road maintenance exercise.
