Prince George is the star of a new stamp to mark the 90th birthday of the Queen, as he poses with the three older generations of direct heirs to the throne.

Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince George and Prince William smile proudly in the special picture, which was taken by photographer Ranald Mackechnie in the White Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace last summer.

Adorably, 2-year-old George stands tall on a stack of gym blocks as he holds onto his father's hand for what will be his first appearance on a stamp.

The Royal Mail will release the four commemorate first-class stamps on a single sheet, with one royal on each stamp, on Thursday (April 21).

A total of 10 stamps will be available in honour of the Queen's 90th birthday.

Others include Elizabeth as a child with her father, with Princess Anne and Prince Charles in 1952, and with Prince Philip in 1957.
