Glasgow is back. Once the second city of the British Empire, when its shipping, industry and commerce circled the globe, it has reinvented itself as a cultural powerhouse of music, creative arts, theatre, design and innovative cuisine.
The transformation from a period of economic decline has been dramatic. It began in earnest in the 1980s, and by the end of the decade it had been proclaimed European City of Culture, followed by City of Architecture and Design, and Unesco City of Music – the first British city to win this accolade. The rusting shipyards faded into history, and in their place rose the striking futuristic architecture of award-winning museums and performance venues.
It remains one of the most eclectic architectural cities in Europe, with a wealth of extravagant Victorian buildings in red and blond sandstone with artistic flourishes. Look out for Italianate palazzo frontages, Art Nouveau masterpieces reminiscent of Gaudi, classical Greek and Roman motifs, and the lavish Spanish Renaissance style of its Kelvingrove Art Gallery.
Glasgow is a sociable city that has always known how to party. In the 1920s it had 81 ballrooms and dance halls, more than anywhere else in Britain, and thousands were still dancing to big bands in the famed Barrowland as German bombers roared overhead in the 1940s.
The music scene today is more diverse and dynamic, with scores of pubs and clubs rocking to indie bands, cool jazz, fiery folk and Latin rhythms, and concert halls showcasing the classics. An average of more than 100 music events take place each week, with international headline acts staged in the city’s stunning new SSE Hydro arena. Scotland’s national orchestra, opera and ballet companies have all based themselves in Glasgow, and in 2019 the city was voted Europe's leading festival and events destination in the World Travel Awards.
The city’s original Gaelic name, Glaschu, means ‘Green Place’ and it boasts one of the greatest arrays of public parks and woodland in Europe

This is our second time visiting Glasgow, UK and our city guide is a combination of footage from our visit this year and last year. Glasgow has a thriving food scene (both Scottish food and International) and we give you a thorough food tour as we bite our way around the city.
In terms of major attractions Glasgow (Glaschu) doesn't have many iconic places to visit as nearby Edinburgh; however, I feel one of the advantages it has over Edinburgh is that the city is more spread out and each neighborhood has a distinct character.
One of our favorite places to visit was the University of Glasgow which has a campus that would make Harry Potter proud. Whether we were visiting breweries or distilleries or having seafood for lunch or dinner we found no shortage of things to do in Glasgow, Scotland.

In today’s video we’re going to be showing you around Glasgow, Scotland. This is a city that we visited last autumn and then again this summer, and on both visits, we ate like kings and queens because it turns out, Glasgow is a great destination for foodies.
Since we never got around to making a travel guide on our first visit, today we’re going to be combining the footage from both of those trips to show you some of the best things to do in Glasgow and also some of the best places to eat and drink it. So let’s get started!
And that’s a wrap for our visit to Glasgow, Scotland. We loved our two visits and we’d gladly return for a 3rd. This is an amazing city for foodies and there are so many great bars, restaurants, breweries, and distilleries to visit.
Also FYI - if you’re already visiting Edinburgh, Glasgow is just a short 50-minute train ride away, and it’s a city with its own unique vibe.

Glasgow (/ˈɡlɑːzɡoʊ, ˈɡlæ-, -s-/ GLA(H)Z-goh, GLA(H)S-goh;Scots: Glesga; Scottish Gaelic: Glaschu [ˈkl̪ˠas̪xu]) is the largest city in Scotland, and the third largest in the United Kingdom (after London and Birmingham). Historically part of Lanarkshire, it is situated on the River Clyde in the country's West Central Lowlands. Inhabitants of the city are referred to as Glaswegians.
Glasgow grew from a small rural settlement on the River Clyde to become the largest seaport in Britain. Expanding from the medieval bishopric and royal burgh, and the later establishment of the University of Glasgow in the 15th century, it became a major centre of the Scottish Enlightenment in the 18th century. From the 18th century the city also grew as one of Great Britain's main hubs of transatlantic trade with North America and the West Indies.
With the onset of the Industrial Revolution, the population and economy of Glasgow and the surrounding region expanded rapidly to become one of the world's pre-eminent centres of chemicals, textiles and engineering; most notably in the shipbuilding and marine engineering industry, which produced many innovative and famous vessels. Glasgow was the "Second City of the British Empire" for much of the Victorian era and Edwardian period, although many cities argue the title was theirs.

Glasgow (Cambridge, Maryland)
Glasgow is a historic home located at Cambridge, Dorchester County, Maryland. It is a Federal style, gable-front, 2 1⁄2-story brick house built about 1792. Attached is a 1 1⁄2-story frame wing dating from the early 20th century. Local history sometimes holds that the home was the birthplace of William Vans Murray, but land records and Murray's biographical data both indicate that it is unlikely that it was ever his home. It is possible, however, that Murray stayed there for some time after his return from his service as foreign minister in the Netherlands, with his first cousin William Murray Robertson, the owner at the time.
It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Glasgow (Scottish Parliament electoral region)
Glasgow is one of the eight electoral regions of the Scottish Parliament. Nine of the parliament's 73 first past the post constituencies are sub-divisions of the region and it elects seven of the 56 additional-member Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs). Thus it elects a total of 16 MSPs.

As a result of the First Periodic Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries the boundaries of the region and constituencies were redrawn for the 2011 Scottish Parliament election.

In terms of first past the post constituencies the region included:
The constituencies were created with the names and boundaries of Westminster constituencies, as existing in 1999. Scottish Westminster constituencies were mostly replaced with new constituencies in 2005. Holyrood constituencies were unaltered.
Nine of the constituencies are entirely within the Glasgow City council area. The Rutherglen constituency includes a north-eastern area of the South Lanarkshire council area. Also, although central with respect to the region and entirely within the city area, Shettleston is in the south-east of the city area, on its boundary with the South Lanarkshire area.

Glasgow (UK Parliament constituency)
Glasgow was a burgh constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1832 to 1885. It returned two Member of Parliament (MPs) until 1868, and then three from 1868 to 1885. Elections were held using the bloc vote system.
History
Until 1832, Glasgow had been one of the parliamentary burghs in the Clyde Burghs constituency (also known as "Glasgow Burghs"), which was abolished by the Representation of the People (Scotland) Act 1832. The Act created the new Glasgow constituency with two seats, which was increased to three by the Representation of the People (Scotland) Act 1868.
Under the Redistribution of Seats Act 1885, the constituency was finally divided into seven new single-seat constituencies, with effect from the 1885 general election:

Lanarkshire
Lanarkshire, also called the County of Lanark (Scottish Gaelic: Siorrachd Lannraig, Scots: Lanrikshire) is a historic county in the central Lowlands of Scotland.
Historically, Lanarkshire was the most populous county in Scotland and, in earlier times, had considerably greater boundaries, including neighbouring Renfrewshire until 1402. In modern times, it is bounded to the north by Stirlingshire and a detached portion of Dunbartonshire, to the northeast by Stirlingshire, West Lothian, to the east by Peeblesshire, to the southeast and south by Dumfriesshire, to the southwest by Dumfriesshire and Ayrshire and to the west by Ayrshire, Renfrewshire and Dunbartonshire.
Lanarkshire was historically divided between two administrative areas. In the mid-18th century it was divided again into three wards: the upper, middle and lower wards with their administrative centres at Lanark, Hamilton and Glasgow, respectively, and remained this way until the Local Government Act of 1889. Other significant settlements include East Kilbride, Motherwell, Airdrie, Coatbridge, Blantyre, Cambuslang, Rutherglen, Wishaw and Carluke.

The transformation from a period of economic decline has been dramatic. It began in earnest in the 1980s, and by the end of the decade it had been proclaimed European City of Culture, followed by City of Architecture and Design, and Unesco City of Music – the first British city to win this accolade. The rusting shipyards faded into history, and in their place rose the striking futuristic architecture of award-winning museums and performance venues.
It remains one of the most eclectic architectural cities in Europe, with a wealth of extravagant Victorian buildings in red and blond sandstone with artistic flourishes. Look out for Italianate palazzo frontages, Art Nouveau masterpieces reminiscent of Gaudi, classical Greek and Roman motifs, and the lavish Spanish Renaissance style of its Kelvingrove Art Gallery.
Glasgow is a sociable city that has always known how to party. In the 1920s it had 81 ballrooms and dance halls, more than anywhere else in Britain, and thousands were still dancing to big bands in the famed Barrowland as German bombers roared overhead in the 1940s.
The music scene today is more diverse and dynamic, with scores of pubs and clubs rocking to indie bands, cool jazz, fiery folk and Latin rhythms, and concert halls showcasing the classics. An average of more than 100 music events take place each week, with international headline acts staged in the city’s stunning new SSE Hydro arena. Scotland’s national orchestra, opera and ballet companies have all based themselves in Glasgow, and in 2019 the city was voted Europe's leading festival and events destination in the World Travel Awards.

In today’s video we’re going to be showing you around Glasgow, Scotland. This is a city that we visited last autumn and then again this summer, and on both visits, we ate like kings and queens because it turns out, Glasgow is a great destination for foodies.
Since we never got around to making a travel guide on our first visit, today we’re going to be combining the footage from both of those trips to show you some of the best things to do in Glasgow and also some of the best places to eat and drink it. So let’s get started!
And that’s a wrap for our visit to Glasgow, Scotland. We loved our two visits and we’d gladly return for a 3rd. This is an amazing city for foodies and there are so many great bars, restaurants, breweries, and distilleries to visit.
Also FYI - if you’re already visiting Edinburgh, Glasgow is just a short 50-minute train ride away, and it’s a city with its own unique vibe.

In today’s video we’re going to be showing you around Glasgow, Scotland. This is a city that we visited last autumn and then again this summer, and on both visits, we ate like kings and queens because it turns out, Glasgow is a great destination for foodies.
Since we never got around to making a travel guide on our first visit, today we’re going to be combining the footage from both of those trips to show you some of the best things to do in Glasgow and also some of the best places to eat and drink it. So let’s get started!
And that’s a wrap for our visit to Glasgow, Scotland. We loved our two visits and we’d gladly return for a 3rd. This is an amazing city for foodies and there are so many great bars, restaurants, breweries, and distilleries to visit.
Also FYI - if you’re already visiting Edinburgh, Glasgow is just a short 50-minute train ride away, and it’s a city with its own unique vibe.

Finally, it is complete, at least the first 15 minutes of it. The video I recorded of the storm was actually 50+ minutes long. So, I am going to split it the entire video into quasi-15 minute segments and then, when complete, combine all of the parts into one video. ***INFREQUENT MILD LANGUAGE INCLUDED IN THIS VIDEO*** This was the Derecho/Bow Echo of June 29-30, 2012 that is being seen in this video and oddly lasted quite a long time although it was moving 50-60 MPH. This was recorded in Northern Delaware during the very early morning hours of June 30, 2012 (more details in video). At one point, a lightning strike was so intense, the camcorder couldn't process it fast enough to continue through it smoothly. You will know when it occurs. The camcorder was on auto-focus, so, you will hear sounds at times after many bright lightning flashes or strikes as the camcorder tries to auto-focus. **ALSO, I GUARANTEE THAT ANY SILENCED PARTS IN THIS VIDEO DO NOT CONTAIN ANY THUNDER.**

Glasgow is back. Once the second city of the British Empire, when its shipping, industry and commerce circled the globe, it has reinvented itself as a cultural powerhouse of music, creative arts, theatre, design and innovative cuisine.
The transformation from a period of economic decline has been dramatic. It began in earnest in the 1980s, and by the end of the decade it had been proclaimed European City of Culture, followed by City of Architecture and Design, and Unesco City of Music – the first British city to win this accolade. The rusting shipyards faded into history, and in their place rose the striking futuristic architecture of award-winning museums and performance venues.
It remains one of the most eclectic architectural cities in Europe, with a wealth of extravagant Victorian buildings in red and blond sandstone with artistic flourishes. Look out for Italianate palazzo frontages, Art Nouveau masterpieces reminiscent of Gaudi, classical Greek and Roman motifs, and the lavish Spanish Renaissance style of its Kelvingrove Art Gallery.
Glasgow is a sociable city that has always known how to party. In the 1920s it had 81 ballrooms and dance halls, more than anywhere else in Britain, and thousands were still dancing to big bands in the famed Barrowland as German bombers roared overhead in the 1940s.
The music scene today is more diverse and dynamic, with scores of pubs and clubs rocking to indie bands, cool jazz, fiery folk and Latin rhythms, and concert halls showcasing the classics. An average of more than 100 music events take place each week, with international headline acts staged in the city’s stunning new SSE Hydro arena. Scotland’s national orchestra, opera and ballet companies have all based themselves in Glasgow, and in 2019 the city was voted Europe's leading festival and events destination in the World Travel Awards.
The city’s original Gaelic name, Glaschu, means ‘Green Place’ and it boasts one of the greatest arrays of public parks and woodland in Europe

This is our second time visiting Glasgow, UK and our city guide is a combination of footage from our visit this year and last year. Glasgow has a thriving food scene (both Scottish food and International) and we give you a thorough food tour as we bite our way around the city.
In terms of major attractions Glasgow (Glaschu) doesn't have many iconic places to visit as nearby Edinburgh; however, I feel one of the advantages it has over Edinburgh is that the city is more spread out and each neighborhood has a distinct character.
One of our favorite places to visit was the University of Glasgow which has a campus that would make Harry Potter proud. Whether we were visiting breweries or distilleries or having seafood for lunch or dinner we found no shortage of things to do in Glasgow, Scotland.

In today’s video we’re going to be showing you around Glasgow, Scotland. This is a city that we visited last autumn and then again this summer, and on both visits, we ate like kings and queens because it turns out, Glasgow is a great destination for foodies.
Since we never got around to making a travel guide on our first visit, today we’re going to be combining the footage from both of those trips to show you some of the best things to do in Glasgow and also some of the best places to eat and drink it. So let’s get started!
And that’s a wrap for our visit to Glasgow, Scotland. We loved our two visits and we’d gladly return for a 3rd. This is an amazing city for foodies and there are so many great bars, restaurants, breweries, and distilleries to visit.
Also FYI - if you’re already visiting Edinburgh, Glasgow is just a short 50-minute train ride away, and it’s a city with its own unique vibe.

Glasgow (/ˈɡlɑːzɡoʊ, ˈɡlæ-, -s-/ GLA(H)Z-goh, GLA(H)S-goh;Scots: Glesga; Scottish Gaelic: Glaschu [ˈkl̪ˠas̪xu]) is the largest city in Scotland, and the third largest in the United Kingdom (after London and Birmingham). Historically part of Lanarkshire, it is situated on the River Clyde in the country's West Central Lowlands. Inhabitants of the city are referred to as Glaswegians.
Glasgow grew from a small rural settlement on the River Clyde to become the largest seaport in Britain. Expanding from the medieval bishopric and royal burgh, and the later establishment of the University of Glasgow in the 15th century, it became a major centre of the Scottish Enlightenment in the 18th century. From the 18th century the city also grew as one of Great Britain's main hubs of transatlantic trade with North America and the West Indies.
With the onset of the Industrial Revolution, the population and economy of Glasgow and the surrounding region expanded rapidly to become one of the world's pre-eminent centres of chemicals, textiles and engineering; most notably in the shipbuilding and marine engineering industry, which produced many innovative and famous vessels. Glasgow was the "Second City of the British Empire" for much of the Victorian era and Edwardian period, although many cities argue the title was theirs.

Finally, it is complete, at least the first 15 minutes of it. The video I recorded of the storm was actually 50+ minutes long. So, I am going to split it the entire video into quasi-15 minute segments and then, when complete, combine all of the parts into one video. ***INFREQUENT MILD LANGUAGE INCLUDED IN THIS VIDEO*** This was the Derecho/Bow Echo of June 29-30, 2012 that is being seen in this video and oddly lasted quite a long time although it was moving 50-60 MPH. This was recorded in Northern Delaware during the very early morning hours of June 30, 2012 (more details in video). At one point, a lightning strike was so intense, the camcorder couldn't process it fast enough to continue through it smoothly. You will know when it occurs. The camcorder was on auto-focus, so, you will hear sounds at times after many bright lightning flashes or strikes as the camcorder tries to auto-focus. **ALSO, I GUARANTEE THAT ANY SILENCED PARTS IN THIS VIDEO DO NOT CONTAIN ANY THUNDER.**
