The Vestibular System
The Vestibular System
Welcome to Global institute of medical sciences. A Place for Focussed and Integrated Coaching providing in depth Knowledge of medical subject preparing students to face various medical examinations with ease. A place where learning is fun. A common platform for All Medicine students who require mbbs tuitions, USMLE coaching, plab training and Medical PG Aspirants. Global institute of medical sciences started educating medical aspirants to prepare lisencing examinations like usmle ,plab and tutoring for mbbs gradguates since 2005.Now a days it became very imp for all medical gradguates to take usmle coaching becocoz the exam is getting much harder year by year ,so by taking the proper usmle training the student will be in a confident position to take exam to aspire maximum percentile to get his residency of choice. we conduct usmle classes in well detailed video and live format which nearly covers up to 3000 case studies and high yield material.presently we offer usmle step 1 and usmle step 2 ( ck ) coaching and are also planning for step 3..we think that usmle step 1 preperation is key and creates much impact on residency and also creates stepping stones for success in usmle step 2.mbbs students at GIMS is cost effective.- published: 26 Feb 2014

How the Body Works :The Organs of Balance
How the Body Works :The Organs of Balance
The Organs of Balance The organs of balance which influence the action of the cerebellum, are located in the inner ear adjacent to the organs of hearing. The position of the three semicircular canals and the saccule, the utricle and the endolymphatic duct are shown in relation to other structures in the inner ear. A cross section of the semicircular canals, which consist of three tubes, are positioned at right angles to each other in different planes. They are filled with a fluid known as endolymph. In the base of each semicircular canal are hairlike receptors. Any movement of the head causes the fluid within the canals to move and so stimulate the receptors to send information to the brain about the direction of the particular movement that has occurred. The utricle and saccule contain receptor cells with tiny stones of calcium carbonate-otoliths. The otoliths are relatively mobile and movement of the head causes them to move. This changes the pressure that they exert on the receptors, which then send information about the direction of the head's movement to the brain, and illustrate the three planes of movement in which the head and body can move to stimulate the receptors in the semicircular canals.- published: 26 Feb 2014

Vestibular Rehabilitation
Vestibular Rehabilitation
Vestibular rehabilitation involves a variety of physical therapy treatments targeting the vestibular system. The vestibular system includes structures within the inner ear along with its connections to the brain and the body. A few of the functions of the vestibular system include stabilizing gaze during head movements and maintaining the bodies' sense of equilibrium. Typical symptoms of impairments from the vestibular system include dizziness, vertigo or "spinning", decreased balance, nausea and headaches. Vestibular disorders are seen in patients of all ages from childhood to older adults. For more information visit http://www.essmc.com- published: 26 Feb 2014

Balance device helps steady patients with inner ear problems
he inner ear, eyes and feet all work together to create a person's sense of balance. Patients with damage to their vestibular system, the balance mechanisms within the ear, can suffer from chronic imbalance. Researchers at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have created a device that helps compensate for a damaged vestibular system.- published: 26 Feb 2014
