Gravette, Arkansas

Gravette is a city in Benton County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 2,325 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fayetteville–Springdale–Rogers, AR-MO Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Geography

Gravette is located in northwestern Benton County at 36°25′12″N 94°27′9″W / 36.42000°N 94.45250°W / 36.42000; -94.45250 (36.419962, -94.452584).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.0 square miles (10.4 km²), all of it land.

Gravette is situated approximately 105 miles (169 km) east of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and 41 miles (66 km) northwest of Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Gravette annexed nearby unincorporated Hiwasse in 2012.

Early history

The original name of the first European-American settlement at this location was Nebo. The Nebo area is now referred to as Old Town in Chalk Valley and was the earliest pioneer settlement of the community. The settlement was platted in the 1870s by Joseph P. Covey, who relocated to Southwest City, Missouri, in 1881. Ellis Tillman Gravett opened the Chalk Valley Distillery in Nebo and was also the proprietor of a general merchandise store. In 1891, he moved that store west out of the valley to what is now downtown Gravette. Gravette was incorporated on January 27, 1899. By 1910 the population of Gravette amounted to 569.

The Berrics

The Berrics is a privately owned, indoor skatepark owned by professional skateboarders Steve Berra and Eric Koston. It is also a website providing content filmed in the skatepark, as well other skateboard-related media. The facility's name is a portmanteau of the owners' names (the "Ber" of Berra's surname and the "ric" of Koston's first name).

History

Establishment: 2007 - 2011

In an interview with Pop magazine, Berra revealed that prior to the launch of The Berrics, he had been offered a million-dollar deal to direct a film based on a screenplay that he had written. Due to filming commitments for his skateboard deck sponsor, Alien Workshop, Berra declined the offer and later commenced work on The Berrics concept following a period of reflection:

All I wanted to do is I knew we have this hook because there were a lot of kids that always would ask Eric and I about our building. “Someday I’ll come to your skate park,” everywhere, all over the world.

That was minimal exposure of it. I realized we were on to something, like a Studio 54, and I was sitting there one day as I was skating and I think it was Andrew Reynolds that I’d seen do a heel flip backside tailslide on the ledge. It was so perfect and awesome. I never left Nebraska mentally to a degree, like I’m still a fan of anyone who skates incredible, ends up just skating.

David

David (/ˈdeɪvɪd/; Hebrew: דָּוִד, Modern David, Tiberian Dāwîḏ;ISO 259-3 Dawid; Arabic: داوُد‎ Dāwūd; Syriac: ܕܘܝܕ‎ Dawid; Ancient Greek: Δαυίδ; Latin: Davidus, David; Strong's: Daveed) was, according to the Books of Samuel, the second king of the United Kingdom of Israel, and according to the New Testament, an ancestor of Jesus. His life is conventionally dated to c. 1040 – 970 BCE, his reign over Judah c. 1010–970 BCE.

The Books of Samuel, 1 Kings, and 1 Chronicles are the only Old Testament sources of information on David, although the Tel Dan Stele (dated c. 850–835 BCE) contains the phrase בית דוד (bytdwd), read as "House of David", which many scholars confirm to be a likely plausible match to the existence in the mid-9th century BCE of a Judean royal dynasty called the House of David.

Depicted as a valorous warrior of great renown, and a poet and musician credited for composing much of the psalms contained in the Book of Psalms, King David is widely viewed as a righteous and effective king in battle and civil justice. He is described as a man after God's own heart in 1 Samuel 13:14 and Acts 13:22.

Alabang–Zapote Road

Alabang–Zapote Road is a four-lane national road which travels east-west through the southern limits of Metro Manila, Philippines. It runs parallel to Dr. Santos Avenue in the north and is named for the two barangays that it links: Alabang in Muntinlupa and Zapote in Las Piñas.

From its eastern terminus at an interchange with South Luzon Expressway and the Manila Skyway, the road runs westwards for 10.2 kilometres (6.3 mi) to the junction with Diego Cera Avenue and Aguinaldo Highway. And since 1997, it also extends further west for several hundred meters connecting Las Piñas to its present terminus at Coastal Road (R-1) in Bacoor, Cavite.

History

Alabang–Zapote Road follows an old Spanish coastal trail that linked the Province of Manila to La Laguna and other southern provinces. It was called Calle Real (Spanish for "royal street") or Camino Real (Spanish for "royal way") which spanned from Ermita to Muntinlupa. At present, only the Las Piñas-to-Muntinlupa section is called Calle Real or Real Street as an alternative name for the road. The rest of the route had been renamed to Del Pilar Street in the City of Manila, Harrison Avenue in Pasay, Elpidio Quirino Avenue in Parañaque, and Diego Cera Avenue in Las Piñas (Manuyo Uno–Zapote segment).
