Jamie McGinn

James Robert McGinn IV (born August 5, 1988) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player currently playing for the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Playing career

McGinn played four seasons of junior hockey for the Ottawa 67's of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). His best season was the 2006–07 season, in which he tallied 46 goals and 89 points. He led the team in scoring that season.

In the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, McGinn was drafted in the second round, 36th overall, by the San Jose Sharks. After his 2006–07 OHL season, McGinn was signed to an entry-level deal by the Sharks. He appeared in four regular season games and six playoff games for their American Hockey League affiliate, the Worcester Sharks.

McGinn made his National Hockey League (NHL) debut on October 28, 2008, against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He scored his first NHL goal on October 30, 2008 against the Detroit Red Wings in only his second career NHL game.

On June 30, 2011, McGinn re-signed to a one-year, $680,000 contract with the Sharks. In the 2011–12 season, McGinn enjoyed a breakout season scoring 24 points as a left winger and a center, appearing in every contest with the Sharks before he was traded at the trade deadline on February 27, 2012, to the Colorado Avalanche, along with prospects Mike Connolly and Michael Sgarbossa in exchange for Daniel Winnik, T.J. Galiardi and a seventh round selection. As a restricted free agent, McGinn filed for arbitration in the summer of 2012, but on July 13 McGinn signed a two-year, $3.5 million contract with the Avalanche.

Jamie

Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche are a professional ice hockey team based in Denver, Colorado. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Avalanche are the only team in their division not based in the Central Time Zone; the team is situated in the Mountain Time Zone. Their home arena is the Pepsi Center. Their current head coach is Patrick Roy, and their general manager is Joe Sakic.

The Avalanche were founded in 1972 as the Quebec Nordiques and were one of the charter franchises of the World Hockey Association. The franchise joined the NHL in 1979 as a result of the NHL–WHA merger. Following the 1994–95 season, they were sold to the COMSAT Entertainment Group and relocated to Denver. In the club's first season in Denver, the Avalanche won the Pacific Division and went on to sweep the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Finals, becoming the first NHL team to win the Stanley Cup in the season following a relocation. Among teams in the five major North American professional sports leagues, only the National Football League (NFL)'s Washington Redskins have also accomplished the feat. This was the first major professional sports championship a Denver-based team would bring to the city. In the 2001 Stanley Cup Finals, the Avalanche defeated the New Jersey Devils 4–3 to win their second and most recent championship. As a result, they are the only active NHL team that has won all of its Stanley Cup Final appearances. Coincidentally, the Devils had preceded the Avalanche in Denver; they were called the Colorado Rockies.

Nate Prosser

Nathanael Christian Prosser (born May 7, 1986) is an American ice hockey defenseman, who is currently playing for the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League.

Playing career

Prosser was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Minnesota Wild after his senior season at Colorado College of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

Prosser immediately made his NHL debut for the Wild at the back end of the 2009–10 season, on April 5, 2010, against the Edmonton Oilers.

During the 2011–12 season, Prosser was signed to a two-year contract extension on February 6, 2012. Prosser then scored his first NHL goal on February 7, 2012, against Curtis Sanford of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Later in the season Prosser headbutted Jamal Mayers during a scrum in front of the Chicago Blackhawks' net. For his action he was suspended for one game.

On January 18, 2014, Prosser scored the game winning overtime goal against the Dallas Stars on Hockey Day Minnesota. The Hockey Day Minnesota event was being hosted in Elk River that year, which was the town Prosser was born in.

Deryk Engelland

Deryk Engelland (born April 3, 1982) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenseman who is currently playing with the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was a sixth round selection, 194th overall, of the New Jersey Devils at the 2000 NHL Entry Draft but never played for the team. He made his NHL debut for the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009 after six years in the minor leagues. Engelland joined the Flames in 2014 as a free agent.

Playing career

Engelland played five seasons of junior hockey in the Western Hockey League (WHL) for the Moose Jaw Warriors. He appeared in two games in 1998–99 before establishing a place as a regular defenceman for the team in the following four seasons where he peaked at 17 points in 2001–02 and 199 penalty minutes in 2002–03. The New Jersey Devils selected Engelland in the sixth round, 194th overall at the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, but never played with the team. He turned professional in 2003–04 and split that season between the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL and the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL).
