Highlander: The Series is a fantasy-adventure television series featuring Duncan MacLeod (Adrian Paul) of the Scottish Clan MacLeod, as the Highlander. It was an offshoot and another alternate sequel of the 1986 feature film with a twist: Connor MacLeod did not win the prize and Immortals still exist post-1985. In fact, original Highlander star Christopher Lambert appeared in the Pilot episode so as to pass the torch to Adrian Paul. The series was an international hit and was nominated three times for the Gemini Awards and once for a Saturn Award in 1998.
In the pilot episode the main character was established as MacLeod living quietly with his girlfriend Tessa Noël (played by Alexandra Vandernoot). They were co-proprietors of the antique shop MacLeod & Noël Antiques. The pilot introduced Richie Ryan (Stan Kirsch) as a thief who entered Duncan's shop and witnessed the confrontation between Duncan, evil Immortal Slan Quince (Richard Moll) and Duncan's fellow clansman Connor MacLeod, the hero from the movies.

Taken from the film, Highlander, Duncan MacLeod, clansman of Connor in the film also finds he is being stalked by not only other immortals trying to kill him before the time of the gathering, but also a secret society of mortals who call themselves 'The Watchers' and also seem intent on killing him. Duncan and the other immortals can only be killed by decapitation and often live for centuries.

If you can forgive the mostly crappy sequels to the original film and focus more on the TV series, it's an incredible fantasy epic. It's a franchise that has some fascinating characters, especially its villains. Here's is my run down of who I feel were the top Highlander bad guys.

The original Highlander (1986) film featured a particularly ludicrous sword, used by the Kurgan. Whoever designed it clearly didn't give a damn about functionality... in the motel scene, before Candy appears, the Kurgan just sticks the individual pieces together, including the two parts of the blade!
Sure, it's just entertainment. But that sword is ridiculous enough to rant about it, thus making more entertainment. Geek talk for the win! :)
Why not fight with an over-sized carpet knife? You know, the type of blade that intentionally allows you to snap off parts of the blade? Might as well.
