Optical Carrier transmission rates are a standardized set of specifications of transmission bandwidth for digital signals that can be carried on Synchronous Optical Networking (SONET) fiber optic networks. Transmission rates are defined by rate of the bitstream of the digital signal and are designated by hyphenation of the acronym OC and an integer value of the multiple of the basic unit of rate, e.g., OC-48. The base unit is 51.84 Mbit/s. Thus, the speed of optical-carrier-classified lines labeled as OC-n is n × 51.84 Mbit/s. Since the 'n' is variable, this range of optical-carrier standards is often called "OC-x", with the x indicating the level of the Optical Carrier.
Optical Carrier classifications are based on the abbreviation OC followed by a number specifying a multiple of 51.84 Mbit/s: n × 51.84 Mbit/s => OC-n. For example, an OC-3 transmission medium has 3 times the transmission capacity of OC-1.
OC-1 is a SONET line with transmission speeds of up to 51.84 Mbit/s (payload: 50.112 Mbit/s; overhead: 1.728 Mbit/s) using optical fiber.
His head is a big black hole
Full of big black things
And it sucks so hard
You could never against the mud
Sugar plum, no ones ever seen anything come
Ouch, what a travesty, what a sad fate
Someone get a band-aid please
We gotta get this guy a machine for his cranium
I mean I don't need
Maybe I don't hear what I need
This never really goes anywhere
We dug a hole
And put our heads in it
We dug a hole
We dug a hole
And put our heads in
This winter, they come too quick and broad
With not enough hot spiced cider or cinnamon toast
You never think you know this
But when you got a dead start
Sucking up both times in your brain
Things start to change
And for the record let me say
It's not his fault that things never change
The summer is always too short
And still they broke up for a guy
With a black hole in his head
And you'll never meet him anyway
We dug a hole
And put our heads in it
We dug a hole
We dug a hole
And put our heads in it
We dug a hole
You know you can't keep letting it get you down
And you can't keep dragging that dead weight around
Is it really all that much to lug around
Better run like hell when you hit the ground
When the morning comes
When the morning comes
Can't stop those kids from dancing but why would you want to
Especially when you are already getting good?
'Cause when your mind don't move then your knees don't bend
But don't go blaming the kids again
When the morning comes
When the morning comes
When the morning comes
When the morning comes
When the morning comes
When the morning comes
Let it go, this too shall pass
Let it go, this too shall pass
(Let it go, this too shall pass)
You know you can't keep letting it get you down
No, you can't keep letting it get you down
(Let it go, this too shall pass)
Oh, is it really all that much to lug around
And you can't keep letting it get you down
When the morning comes
Oh, you can't keep letting it get you down
No, you can't keep letting it get you down
(When the morning comes)
Oh, you can't keep letting it get you down
No, you can't keep letting it get you down
(When the morning comes)
Oh, you can't keep letting it get you down
No, you can't keep letting it get you down
(When the morning comes)
Oh, you can't keep letting it get you down
No, you can't keep letting it get you down
We move like cagey tigers
We couldn't get closer than this
The way we walk, the way we talk
The way we stalk, and kiss
Slip through the streets while everyone sleeps
Getting bigger and sleeker and wider and brighter
We bite and scratch and scream all night
Let's go and throw, the songs we know
Into the sea, you and me
These years and no one heard
I'll show you in spring, it's a treacherous thing
We missed you, we missed you, lovecats
We're the lovecats
Wonderful, wonderfully pretty
Yes I would do anything for you
We should have each other to tea
Let's have each other with cream
Curl up by the fire, sleep for awhile
It's the grooviest thing, the perfect dream
Into the sea, you and me
These years and no one heard
I'll show you in spring, it's a treacherous thing
We missed you, we missed you, the lovecats
We're the lovecats
We're the lovecats
The lovecats, wonderfully pretty, yeah
When we got to Boston, we knew we'd missed a turn.
No one back in traffic school had
told us there are signs that can't be learned.
Geography's too stubborn and people are too clear,
so let's go find a road-side motel with a clerk who won't tell.
Days will turn into nights, nights will turn into days, weeks, seasons, and years.
We'll stay for years.
Red and white for blood cells, red and white for wine.
They could be the whole damn spectrum if
we'd all just let them. Lord, it's such a crime...
Working on an inch less waistband in the
strip mall wasteland outside of this town,
or clawing at the penthouse kitchen floor for just one smidgen
more,
everybody knows, everybody knows that it's in.
The fix is in.
Let's go back to Boston. Forget about the turn.
Atlases and gas station attendants are none of our concern.
We'll forge a little life dear (oh dear) and double down our debts,
and I guess it stands to reason that the passing seasons will
slowly dull regrets.
Working on an inch less waistband in the strip mall wasteland
outside of this town,
or clawing at the penthouse kitchen floor for just one smidgen
more,
everybody knows, everybody knows that it's in.
Look at the hottie in the tight jeans
Look at the pipe dreams
Look at the fat man burst at the seams
Look at the captain with the galaxy right off his balcony
Look at the science and the alchemy
Look at the sirens on the cop cars
Look at the pop stars
Look at the convicts filing the bars
Look at the wife
Look at the knife
Look at the pom-pom prom queen scream and scream and run for her life.
It's always right, the perfect light in the dark of night.
Give up the world, give up your life, cause you cannot fight the television.
Television, television.
Look at them trying to get the flag higher
Look at the quagmire
Look at the tread separate from the tire
Look at the junky trying to get a gram
Look at the betting man
Look at him folding on a better hand
It's always right, the fearless light in the dark of night.
Give up the world, give up your life cause you cannot fight the television.
Television, television.
Look at me hypnotized and half alive, maybe it's four or five.
Some parts are sleeping, some parts are paralyzed.
Just one more minute.. just one more minute.. I think I'm almost in it.
Television, television.
Give me tits and politicians.
Give me death and demolition.
Give me glamour and sedition.
Skyscrapers please forgive me I didn't mean a word I said
Skyscrapers I was just tangled up in my own head
And somehow in all the madness I thought that I was seeing straight
It ain't always pretty but it seemed there was no other way
And I guess all I ever loved was standing right before my eyes
And I, oh I, I was blind
So skyscrapers please forgive me I'm standing here repentative man
Oh skyscrapers I'll never look down again, again
Oh 'cause I guess all I ever loved was standing right before my eyes
Oh yeah, I guess all I've ever known was standing here all the time
And I, yeah I, I was blind
You were right here all the time
All of the astronauts, champagne in plastic cups
Waiting for the big hero to show
Outside the door he stands
His head in his hands and his heart in his throat
What can he tell them now?
Sorry I let you down, sorry it wasn't quite true
But don't get hung up on it just solider on with it
And good luck with shooting the moon
Shooting the moon
Shooting the moon
The moon
Shooting the moon
All of the principals, generals, admirals
And the podium lit with the spotlight
The crowd buzzes quietly
Waiting expectantly like it's opening night
What can he tell them now?
Sorry I let you down, sorry it wasn't quite true
But don't get hung up on it just solider on with it
And good luck with shooting the moon
Shooting the moon
Shooting the moon
The moon
Having spent your entire life exactly where you are tonight in the valley between intent and deed, you
must have mastered this, the fragile art of a good excuse, the little things that get you to believe.
That get you to believe.
So listen, I'm not trying to prove anything at all here, but don't you think that maybe, this time, you were wrong?
You've spent your entire life quick-tongued and always right.
Hasn't being right just let you down?
Right just lets you down.
So listen, I'm not trying to say anything at all here.
There isn't much let, anyway, that hasn't been said.
But don't you think that possibly, this time, it's different?
If you should be the last autumn leaf hanging from the tree
I'll still be here waiting on the breeze to bring you down to me
And if it takes forever, forever it'll be
And if it takes forever, forever it'll be
And if you should be the last seed in spring to venture forth a leaf
I'll still be here waiting on the rain to warm your heart for me
And if it takes forever, forever it'll be
Well it's tough to have a crush,
When the boy doesn't feel the same way you do.
Well it's tough to have a crush,
When your bestfriends breaks the news.
Perhaps you'll find me feeling better,
In a day or two.
Well it's tough to have a crush,
On you.
Well it's tough to have a crush,
Whoever knew such hullabaloo?
Well it's tough to have a crush,
When it only leaves you blue.
Perhaps they'll find you in the river,
In a month or two.
Well its tough (so tough),
In your fitted raincoat and tangled winter hair
Cheeks a little rosy in the February air
Running through the subway to catch the Uptown train
Spend the night just dancing
Running through the subway to catch the Uptown train
Spend the night just dancing
[Chorus:]
I want you, yeah I want you
I want you, yeah I want you bad
So bad I can't think straight
So bad all my bones shake
So bad I can't breathe
And in the midnight quiet, outside the world away
We could have just one more night that you could stay.
And in the light of morning for 21 days straight
There you are beside me
And in the light of morning for 21 days straight
There you are beside me
[Repeat Chorus:]
So wontcha, So wontcha c'mon (3x)
(Very Suggestive "Ahs")
I can't breathe
(Band pauses, entire female population of the planet screams)
I want you, yeah I want you, so bad I can't breathe
In the dream you were someone different
You and everyone else all at once
You were beautiful, you were beautiful
In the dream you were just like you are
You loved everyone like a sovereign
Half magnanimous, half unimpressed
And I was talkin' too much I was tryin' too hard
In the dream it was just like it is
Everything was so simple
Things are how they always will be
You are the answer to the question that is me
In the dream it was just like it is
We were captive in, in a prison
Where everyone was guilty by mistake
And it was infinite, it was infinite
In the dream it was just like it is
And I, I asked, "Is that good for you?"
You said, "No, probably not
But everybody's gotta get through the night
And love is all we got", yeah
In the dream it was just like it is
Yeah, in the dream it was just like it is
In the dream you were someone different
You and everyone else all at once
You were beautiful, you were beautiful
Quit acting so friendly.
Don't nod don't laugh all nicely.
Don't think you'll up-end me.
Don't sigh, don't sip your iced-tea.
And don't say, "It's been a while..."
And don't flash that stupid smile.
Don't ask me how I've been.
Don't think I've forgotten,
you never liked that necklace.
So cordial, so rotten...
Kiss, kiss, let's meet for breakfast.
Don't show up so on-time
and don't act like you're so kind
Don't ask me how I've been.
Don't sit there and play just
so frank, so straight, so candid,
so thoughtful, so gracious,
so sound, so even-handed.
Don't be so damn benign
and don't waste my fucking time.
Now its years since your body went flat and even memories of that
are all think and dull, all gravel and glass. But who needs them
now -- displaced they're easily more safe --
the worst of it now: I can't remember your face.
Return.
For a while, with the vertigo cured, we were alive -- we were pure.
The void took the shape of all that you were, but years take their toll,
and things get bent into shape...
Antiseptic and tired, I can't remember your face.
Return.
You were supposed to grow old. Reckless, unfrightened, and old,
you were supposed to grow old.
1..2..3..4..
Well it's tough to have a crush
When the boy doesn't feel the same way you do
Well it's tough to have a crush
When yer best friend breaks the news
Perhaps you'll find me feelin' better,
In a day or two
But it's tough to have a crush on you
Well, it's tough to have a crush
Who ever knew, such hellabaloo
Well, it's tough to have a crush
When it only leaves you blue
Perhaps they'll find you in the river,
In a month or two
Well it's tough (so tough) to crush on you
Well it's tough (so tough) to crush on you
Ya it's tough (so tough) to crush on you
How long did we all think this all would last?
Who could have counted days as they flew past?
But before we go, sing us a song.
Sing us a song to hum through the hours of dying.
Who would have though it'd come as such a show?
A pink and silver day... who was to know?
Even as we go, sing us a song.
Lot of knots, lot of snags,
lot of holes, lot of cracks lot of crags. Lot of naggin' old hags,
lot of fools, lot of fool scum bags.
Oh it's such a drag, what a chore... oh your wounds are full of salt.
Everything's a stress and what's more, well it's all somebody's fault.
Hey! Get over it!
Makes you sick, makes you ill,
makes you cheat, slipping change from the till.
Had it up to the gills... makes you cry while
the milk still spills. Ain't it just a bitch? What a pain...
Well it's all a crying shame. What
left to do but complain? Better find someone to blame.
Hey! Get over it!
Got a job, got a life, got a four-door and a faithless wife.
Got those nice copper pipes, got an ex, got a room for the night.
Aren't you such a catch?
What a prize! Got a body like a battle
axe... Love that perfect frown, honest eyes...
We ought to buy you a Cadillac.
Sit back, matter of fact, teasing, toying, turning, chatting, charming, hissing, playing the crowd.
Play that song again, another couple Klonopin, a nod, a glance, a half-hreated bow.
Oh such grace, oh such beauty, and lipstick and callous and fishnets and malice.
Oh Darling, you're a million ways to be cruel.
I should, I wish I could, maybe if you were, I would, a list of standard-issue regrets.
One last 80 proof, slouching in the corner booth.
Baby, it's as good as it gets.
Oh such grace, oh such beauty. So precious, suspicious, and charming, and vicious.
Super automatic pilot motor running down circles in the parking lot
Self-sustaining system bit her in the neck and quick and kissed her and took all she got
Did you come here to dance?
Whats in your glass?
Do you feel better?
Let it rain, Let it pour
Let it rain, Let it pour
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Let it rain, Let it pour
Cruise-control distressed, her kind of cursed and kind of blessed her, engine running on the fume
Vision blue and blurry, falling angels in a flurry, spinning thru the empty room
Did you come here to dance?
Whats in your glass?
Do you feel better now?
Let it rain, Let it pour
Let it rain, Let it pour
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Let it rain, Let it pour
Super automatic pilot motor running down circles in the parking lot
Self-sustaining system bit her in the neck and quick and kissed her and took all she got
Let it rain (Hallelujah), Let it pour
Let it rain (Hallelujah), Let it pour
Let it pour (Hallelujah)
Let it pour (Hallelujah)
When they finally come to destroy the earth, they'll have to go through you first. I bet they won't be
expecting that. When they finally come to destroy the earth, they'll have to deal with you first, and now
my money says they won't know about the thousand Fahrenheit hot metal lights behind your eyes. Invincible.
You're invincible. That crushing, crashing, atom-smashing, white-hot thing... It's invincible. When they
finally come, what'll you do to them? Gonna decimate them like you did to me? Will you leave them stunned
and stuttering? When they finally come, how will you handle them? Will you devastate them deliberately?
'Cause I'm gonna guess they won't be prepared for thousand Fahrenheit hot metal lights behind your eyes.
Invincible. You're invincible. That crushing, crashing, atom-smashing, white-hot thing... It's invincible.
Well, at first there was
There was just no question
Who wouldn't rather be their reflection
But when I got here everything was cold and perfect
But when I got here everything was cold and perfect
It was clear and bright
Like midwinter sunlight
My heartbeat counting down a moment precise and quiet
I look out and saw my own reflection helpless
I look out and saw him overwhelmed and helpless
[Chorus:]
Oh what have I done, what have I done
Oooooo (Oh) what have I done
Ooohhhh what have I done
My God, what have I done
Oooo (OH) what have I done
Ooh what have I done
As time went on
You could feel a silence
Solidifying the sound of my thoughts and paralyzing
I tried to call out to him but the glass was perfect
I tried to call out to him but the glass was perfect
[Chorus:]
Oh what have I done, what have I done
Oooooo (Oh) what have I done
Ooohhhh what have I done
My God, what have I done
Oh what goods pleading
To get what you want
Oooh to get you want
Oh what have I done
[Repeat x4:]
Every day is the same
We're praying for rain
And when it finally came
And when it came
Everyday was the same
Still praying for rain
Everday is the same
We're praying for rain
And when it finally came
And when it came
It could be ten, but then again
I can't remember half an hour since a quarter to four
Throw on your clothes, the second side of Surfer Rosa
And you leave me with my jaw on the floor, hey!
Oh, just when you think you're in control
Just when you think you've got a hold
Just when you get on a roll
Oh here it goes, here it goes, here it goes again
Oh, here it goes again
I shoulda known, shoulda known, shoulda known again
But here it goes again
Oh, oh here it goes again
It starts out easy, something simple, something sleazy
Something inching past the edge of reserve
Now through the lines of the cheap Venetian blinds
Your car is pulling off of the curb, hey!
Oh, just when you think you're in control
Just when you think you've got a hold
Just when you get on a roll
Oh, here it goes, here it goes, here it goes again
Oh, here it goes again
I shoulda known, shoulda known, shoulda known again
But here it goes again
Oh, here it goes
Oh, here it goes
Oh, here it goes again
Oh, oh here it goes again
Oh oh
Oh, here it goes, yeah
Oh, here it goes again, hey hey
Oh, here it goes, alright
I guess there's gotta be a break in the monotony
But Jesus, when it rains how it pours
Throw on your clothes, the second side of Surfer Rosa
And you leave me, yeah, you leave me
Oh, here it goes, here it goes, here it goes again
Oh, here it goes again
I shoulda known, shoulda known, shoulda known again
But here it goes again
Oh, here it goes, oh, here it goes
Oh, here it goes again
I shoulda known, I shoulda known
But here it goes again
Oh here it, oh here it
Oh here it, oh here it
Oh here it goes again
I shoulda, I shoulda
I shoulda, I shoulda
I shoulda known
Oh oh oh
I shoulda known
Oh, here it goes again
Oh, oh here it goes again
Sitting for lunch in a square in this town
(this town that I'm new to),
new fellow from my new town sat me down
and explained it to me:
how when I spin from him I spin from myself,
the center can double the speed of the crust.
Thank you, my treacherous friends.
I'm cringing for myself when I cringe for you.
Hello, my treacherous friends,
and thank you for joining me here tonight.
I brought you all here to discuss, as I must,
how grateful I am for your insights.
With regard to my newborn arachnid kids,
there's something we must discuss:
perhaps we should sit them down and explain
how not to be saved.
Perhaps you could help me to demonstrate
how your center can keep up its sickening spin.
Thank you, my treacherous friends.
Perhaps for my children your surface will smile.
Hello, my treacherous friends,
and thank you for joining me here tonight.
I brought you all here to discuss, as I must,
the fate of my children, the spiders.
Hello, my treacherous friends,
and thank you for joining me here tonight.
I brought you all here to discuss, as I must,
It's coming down, babe
Could be as bad as they talked about
It's coming down, babe
Could be before we can make it out
But when they say that all is lost
All is not lost, all is not lost
But when they say that all is lost
All is not lost, no all is not lost at all
They could be right about it
They could be right in some crazy way
'Cause if they yell fire, well that's what we get
Yeah they yell fire, and that's what we get
So, yeah it's coming babe
Probably bad as they talked about
But just remember: when the tide rolls in
It can't be too long until it rolls back out
And when they say that all is lost
All is not lost, all is not lost
And when they say that all is lost
All is not lost, no all is not lost at all
And if they burn
If they burn this place down to the ground
What does it matter?
What does it matter?
Cause when they say that all is lost
All is not lost, all is not lost
And when they say that all is lost
All is not lost, no, all is not lost, not lost at all
No, all is not lost, no, all is not lost at all
True about my taste
True about my wealth
The thing about St Petersburg I was never there myself
So come on Yeah come on
Anastasia cried all night, but I couldnt save myself
So come on Yeah come on
I appreciate your courtesy, your well earned politesse
But you got yourself into your own mess
You know the demons in the design
A good idea at the time
Yeah seemed like a good idea at time
Yeah seemed like a good idea at time
Now how it all went down, auto Pilate knows
All I ever asked of him was when the bars were closed
So come on, Yeah come on
I appreciate your courtesy, your well earned politics
But you got yourself into your own mess
You know the demons in the design
A good idea at the time
Yeah seemed like a good idea at time
Yeah seemed like a good idea at time
Now what you gonna do about it?
True about my taste
True about my wealth
But you dont need no help from me, you'll yourself to waste
So come on Yeah come on
Seemed like a good idea at time
Another long quiet night...
Another long quiet, lonely night spent at your side.
Not a lot left to say...
There's not a lot that I still could say to change your mind.
But with a little bit of money we could buy us a car.
With a little luck we could get away from where we are.
Let's get out of here.
We'll drive, one thousand miles an hour.
We'll fly by wheat fields and water towers.
We'll go. We'll go and we'll go and we'll go. Let's go.
Now the look in your eye...
You know, the look right before you cry... it's always here.
So in the day when you wake...
In the morning when you awake, let's disappear.
With a little bit of money we could buy us a car.
With a little luck we could get away from where we are.
Let's get out of here.
We'll drive, one thousand miles an hour.
We'll fly by wheat fields and water towers.
Cool music
Well, I'm standin' here, looking at you
What do I see? I'm lookin' straight through
It's so sad when you're young, too be told
But you're havin' fun
So unplug the jukebox
And do us all a favor
Ooh, that music's lost its taste
So try another flavor
Ant music
(Oh, oh oh oh oh oh)
Ant music
(Oh, oh oh oh oh oh)
Ant music
(Oh, oh oh oh oh oh)
Ant music
(Oh, oh oh oh oh oh)
Ooh, when I'm standin here, what do I see?
A big nothing, threatening me
It's so sad, when you're young to be told
But you're havin' fun
So unplug the jukebox
And do us all a favor
Ooh, that music's lost its taste
So try another flavor
Ant music
(Oh, oh oh oh oh oh)
Ant music
(Oh, oh oh oh oh oh)
Ant music
(Oh, oh oh oh oh oh)
Ant music
(Oh, oh oh oh oh oh)
Don't tread on an ant, he's done nothin' to you
There might come a day when he's treadin' on you
Don't tread on ant, you'll end up black and blue
Oh, cut off his head, legs come lookin' for you
So unplug the jukebox
And do us all a favor
Hey, ooh that, music's lost its taste
So try another flavor
Ant music
(Oh, oh oh oh oh oh)
Ant music
(Oh, oh oh oh oh oh)
Ant music
(Oh, oh oh oh oh oh)
Ant music
(Oh, oh oh oh oh oh)
Oh, unplug the jukebox
And do us all a favor
The music's lost its taste
So try another flavor
The warmth of your love's
Like the warmth from the sun
And this will be our year
Took a long time to come
Don't let go of my hand
Now darkness has gone
This will be our year
Took a long time to come
And I won't forget
The way you helped me
Up when I was down
And I won't forget
The way you said
Darling I love you
You gave me faith to go on
Now we're there
And we've only just begun
This will be our year
Took a long time to come
The warmth of your smile
Smile for me little one
And this will be our year
Took a long time to come
You don't have to worry
All your worried days are gone
And this will be our year
Took a long time to come
And I won't forget
The way you helped me
Up when I was down
And I won't forget
The way you said
Darling I love you
You gave me faith to go on
Now we're there
And we've only just begun
This will be our year
Took a long time to come
And this will be our year
Come on in, sweetie-pie! Have an apple, have some lye...
Leave your friends, righteous and pathetic, standing at the door.
On the books, all your bets favor head-bands and cassettes,
cigarettes, suffragettes, and bores.
What to do?
Sweetheart, you'll find mediocre people do exceptional things all
the time.
Oh, the ruin will do in your talented mind...
could've been a genius if you'd had an axe to grind.
When we moved to the city, it seemed the competition got so much
less pretty
but the mirror's never failed you like this before.
So your revenge on the world will be pencils through your curls
and if wanting ever taught you anything, it's wanting more.
(and more and more and more...)
What to do?
Sweetheart, you'll find mediocre people do exceptional things all
the time.
Oh, the ruin will do in your talented mind...
could've been a genius if you'd had an axe to grind.
What to do?
When that day finally nears, you'll at least have made it clear
that compassion's just a nicer way of looking down your nose.
It seems that all the people want to do is crowd the streets of
Amsterdam (Pamplona, too),
but the bulls have already come and gone and bellowed all their
lows.
Now nobody knows
what to do.
Sweetheart, you'll find mediocre people do exceptional things all
the time.
Oh, the ruin will do in your talented mind...
Could've been a genius if you'd had an axe to grind.
Miss Antoinette she went out with a song
Selling booze and silver shoes and singing right along.
Shotgun and a limousine while the baby dolls march on
Miss Antoinette she went out with a song.
And it's a long way down
Yeah it's a long way down.
Down at the Maple Leaf they pack 'em in
We all get sauced, turn down the house, so we start all over again.
And tonight we'll all get reborn to a couple fifths of gin.
(here we go)
The rich boys get their money back when the banks go belly up
But if you're downtown when the levees break well you're shit out of luck.
(shit out of luck)
And over at the place they train the gods (?)
With Stanton on the drums you don't need no one on guitar
And sometimes all it takes is going way too far
And it's the long way down
Yeah it's the long way down
Aw it's the long way down
A long way down
The rich boys get their money back when the banks go belly up
But if you're downtown when the levees break well you're shit out of luck.
The penthouse paupers need your help so everybody lend a hand
And maybe they'll get you a real sweet price on Louisiana land
Now Christ down on the street with his trombone
And even though the 12-year olds have got in their bones
Above these 20 blocks no one's alone
The rich boys get their money back when the banks go belly up
But if you're downtown when the levees break then you're shit out of luck.
The penthouse paupers need your help so everybody lend a hand
I know you gotta go
There's some shit you gotta do
And Oh, all this talk is bringin' me down
Oh yeah, It's getting late
All these things we've been saying
It's the same, oh circle goin' 'round
But baby don't get up yet
Don't get up yet
I'm not through
I'm not through
It's always been true
Gravity's not my strong suit
And maybe I've gone on a little long
But if you, just give up now
Get on up and walk on out
Might as well just call the whole thing done
So Baby don't get up yet
Don't get up yet
I'm not through
I'm not through
Baby don't get up yet
Don't get up yet
Baby don't get up yet
Don't get up yet
I'm not through
I'm not through
I know you gotta go
I know you gotta run
But, babe I'm not done
I'm not through
I know you gotta go
I know you gotta run
When I was small I believed in Santa Claus Though I knew it was my dad And I would hang up my stocking at Christmas Open my presents and I'd be glad
But the last time I played Father Christmas I stood outside a department store A gang of kids came over and mugged me And knocked my reindeer to the floor
They said: Father Christmas, give us some money Don't mess around with those silly toys. We'll beat you up if you don't hand it over We want your bread so don't make us annoyed Give all the toys to the little rich boys
Don't give my brother a Steve Austin outfit Don't give my sister a cuddly toy We don't want a jigsaw or monopoly money We only want the real McCoy
Father Christmas, give us some money We'll beat you up if you make us annoyed Father Christmas, give us some money Don't mess around with those silly toys
But give my daddy a job 'cause he needs one He's got lots of mouths to feed But if you've got one, I'll have a machine gun So I can scare all the kids down the street
Father Christmas, give us some money We got no time for your silly toys We'll beat you up if you don't hand it over Give all the toys to the little rich boys
Have yourself a merry merry Christmas Have yourself a good time But remember the kids who got nothin' While you're drinkin' down your wine
I'll never know what you'll find when you open up your letterbox tomorrow,
Cause a little bird never tells me anything I wanna know; she's my best friend, she's a sparrow
And I'll never, never know what you never, never, never wanna know when you know what you are, oh
If I had a pair of eyes in the back of my head for each time
You forgot to take out all the things you forgot to talk about when you took a bite out of my spine.
I would have a lot of eyes on the other side, wouldn't I? Wouldn't that just be fine?
Too late or soon to make noise about love and there's no time for sorrow,
Run around in the rain with a hole in the brain till tomorrow
I'll never know what you'll find when you open up your letterbox tomorrow,
Cause a little bird never tells me anything I wanna know; she's my best friend, she's a sparrow
All of the astronauts, champagne in plastic cups
Waiting for the big hero to show
Outside the door he stands
His head in his hands and his heart in his throat
What can he tell them now?
Sorry I let you down, sorry it wasn't quite true
But don't get hung up on it just solider on with it
And good luck with shooting the moon
Shooting the moon
Shooting the moon
The moon
Shooting the moon
All of the principals, generals, admirals
And the podium lit with the spotlight
The crowd buzzes quietly
Waiting expectantly like it's opening night
What can he tell them now?
Sorry I let you down, sorry it wasn't quite true
But don't get hung up on it just solider on with it
And good luck with shooting the moon
Shooting the moon
Shooting the moon
The moon
It's time to play the music
It's time to light the lights
It's time to meet the muppets
On the Muppet Show tonight
It's time to put on make up
It's time to dress up right
It's time to raise the curtain
On the Muppet Show tonight
Why do we always come here
I guess we'll never know
It's like a kind of torture
To have to watch the show
To introduce our guest star
That's what I'm here to do
So it really makes me happy
To introduce to you
Ladies and Gentlemen... Ok Go!
Yaouuuuuuuuuh
Ok Go and the Muppets,
That sounds pretty exciting
Let's watch cats videos!
Ooooooh
So now let's get it started
Why don't we get it started
It's time to get things started
On the most sensational, inspirational, celebational, muppetational,
This is what we call the Muppet Show!
It's the most sensational, inspirational, celebrational, muppetational,
I've been waiting for months
Waiting for years
Waiting for you to change
Aw, but there ain't much that's dumber
There ain't much that's dumber
Than pinning your hopes on a change in another
And I, yeah, I still need you, but what good's that gonna do?
Needing is one thing and getting, getting is another
So I been sitting around
Wasting my time
Wondering what you been doing
Aw, and it ain't real forgiving
It ain't real forgiving
Sitting here picturing someone else living
And I, yeah, I still need you, but what good's that gonna do?
Needing is one thing and getting, getting is another
I've been hoping for months
Hoping for years
Hoping I might forget
Aw, but it don't get much dumber
It don't get much dumber
Than trying to forget a girl when you love her
And I, yeah, I still need you, but what good's that gonna do?
Oh, needing is one thing and getting, getting is another
When?
When?
Why not now?
Why not me?
Why not me?
When?
When?
Why not now?
Why not me?
And we saw Cat Power,
Singing hour after hour,
Of a future that would never be.
And I sank to the bottom,
for a summer and an autumn,
tryin' to figure out it which was me.
And she pinned me down to the Lady Parade groove,
Waiting for the soul to stray,
When I quieted down, I heard the sound.
And that's the greatest song I ever heard,
Yeah, that's the greatest song I ever heard.
Now I saw Bob Dylan gone electric,
Feeling Pete Seeger with his axe in the crowd.
Maggie and the farm, never meant no harm.
But the heart started beating to loud.
And I caught a glimpse, of a feeling I had once,
But let it all slip away with the pain.
And I'm just playing, never stop playing.
Cause that's the greatest song I ever heard, I ever heard, yeah.
That's the greatest song I ever heard
That's the greatest song I ever heard.
That's the greatest song I ever heard.
We solved all the problems
With bigger problems, with bigger problems.
We solved all the problems
With bigger problems, with bigger problems.
The greatest song I ever heard
We solved all the problems
With bigger problems, with bigger problems.
Is the greatest song I ever heard
We solved all the problems
With bigger problems, with bigger problems.
You'll never get that taste out of your mouth
You'll never get the paw prints out of the hen house now
And you can't go back same way you came
Round all the pieces up, but they just don't fit the same
White knuckles
Maybe it's not so bad
So let your hair down now
White knuckles
Yeah, maybe it's not so bad
So let it all come down
So can we let it all out? Let it bleed?
Did you get what you want?
Did you get what you need?
And behind the lines
Behind the wall, tell me,
Was the bed you made really that bad after all?
White knuckles
Yeah, maybe it's not so bad
So let your hair down now
White knuckles
Maybe it's not so bad
Just let it all come down
So just how far is far enough?
Everybody needs to sleep at night
Everybody needs a crutch
But couldn't good be good enough?
‘Cause nothing never doesn't change
But nothing changes much
Yeah, maybe it's not so bad
So let your hair down now
White knuckles
Oh, maybe it's not so bad
Just let it all come down
Yeah, maybe it's not so bad
Just let your hair down now
White knuckles
Oh, maybe it's not so bad
Shall we recline in my easy chair?
We'll take the straightest cot I've got to spare
Puttin' up your legs
Go to sleep for a while
So cozy under the inclimate weather
I'll be a pillow and your head can rest
Shut aside giggle and tear 'em up right
Your hair tickles slightly
But that's alright
Shall we recline in my easy chair?
We'll take the straightest cot I've got to spare
Lay down your head
Go to sleep for a while
Lay down your head
Go to sleep for a while
Lay down your head
Go to sleep for a while
Shall we recline in my easy chair?
We'll take the straightest cot I've got to spare
Puttin' up your legs
Go to sleep for a while
So cozy under the inclimate weather
I'll be a pillow and your head can rest
Lay down your head
Go to sleep for a while
Lay down your head
Before the earth was round,
There was no end to things
No one tried to measure what they knew
Everything was warm
And everyone would love
And every contradiction was true
The sun worked twice as hard
And the moon was twice as far
And the sky was still honestly blue
The sky was still honestly blue
But when the time came
Everything spiraled in
And everyone forgot what they knew
War became a job
And love became a mystery
And heart and head were bent out of tune
Fear and doubt began
And God threw up his hands
And the sky didn't know what to do
The sky didn't know what to do
So you were born in an electrical storm, took a bite out the sun and saw your future in a machine built
for two. Now your rays make me kind of go crazy, shock and awe and amaze me, just a ticker tape parade and
me, but something was wrong till you tap danced on the air, in the night. Screaming at the top of your
lungs, you said, "Come on, come on. Do what you want. What could go wrong? Oh come on come on come on,
come on, do what you want. Oh come on come on. What could go wrong? Do do do do what you want." Come on.
Me, I was raised amid the trickle-down days. I woke up numb in the haze and saw my future machine built
for two, but the light gave me some kind of fright. How did wrong get so right and lead me stumbling
through the dark of night? Oh something was wrong, but you tap danced on the air, in the night, Screaming
at the top of your lungs you said, "Come on, come on. Do what you want. What could go wrong? Oh come on
come on come on, come on, do what you want. Oh come on come on. What could go wrong? Do do do do what you
In the shallowest part of the night while you quietly slept,
I lay here and I counted the hours to the sound of your breath.
Can't you love me?
Can't you love me how I want, please?
I went walking down on Second Street through the leaves and the clutter.
In the pale yellow sodium light, nothing has any color.
Can't you love me?
I saw you sliding out the bar.
I saw you slipping out the back door, baby.
Don't even try and find a line this time, it's fine. Darling, you're still
divine.
You don't love me at all, but don't think that it bothers me at all.
You're a bad-hearted boy-trap, babydoll, but you're...
You're so damn hot.
So now you're headed to your car.
You say it's dinner with your sister, sweetie.
But darling look at how you're dressed. Your best suggests
another kind of guest.
You don't love me at all, but don't think that it bothers me at all.
You're a bad-hearted boy-trap, babydoll, but you're...
You're so damn hot.
So who's this other guy you've got?
Which other rubes are riding hot-shot, sugar?
I could have swore you said before, "No more, for sure." What'd I
believe you for?
You don't love me at all, but don't think that it bothers me at all.
You're a bad-hearted boy-trap, babydoll, but you're...
"Bye bye, baby" Cybil says as she walks out the door.
You can bet that Hollywood looks oh-so-good,
much better than it ever has before.
So my pets have left me in search of careers and richer soils,
heading off to pure-bread friends and happy ends
and anything to prove I'm disloyal.
It's not just that I'm selfish and scared,
it's not just that I'm so unprepared.
It's just you'd think I'd grow out of this, wouldn't you?
So take me to winter, as if it was discontent I'd see.
I'll live with the madmen there and pull my hair
'cause lunacy is everything I need.
It's not just that I'm selfish and scared,
it's not just that I'm so unprepared.
It's just you'd think I'd grow out of this, wouldn't you?
"Bye bye, baby" Cybil says as she walks out the door.
You can bet that Hollywood looks oh-so-good,
You're not the prettiest girl in town
I'm not the only boy with sullied clothes and a sullen frown, so
To hell with Valentine's, to hell with perfume
To hell with chocolates and picnics
And Sinatra tunes
Cuz while the rest of the girls are drowning in roses and songs he composes
And while the rest of the guys are all trying
All trying so hard
Oh girl, let's crash the party
El Dorado on the lawn (hey, hey, hey)
Let's burn holes in the carpets
Kicking, shouting, dancing on the tables all night long
I'm not so good with subtlety
You wouldn't say that I'm the picture of urbanity
Never put much stock in suavity, courtesy, chivalry, gallantry
All that useless jewelry
But while the rest of the girls still sigh for the night he was smiling politely
And while the rest of the guys are all trying
All trying so hard
Oh girl, let's crash the party
El Dorado on the lawn (hey, hey, hey)
Let's burn holes in the carpets
Kicking, shouting, dancing on the tables all night long
(Oh girl, let's crash the party)
All night
(Let's burn holes in the carpet)
Oh sugar, oh sugar can't you see
How hard I'm trying?
You know you gotta, you know you gotta eventually
Make up your mind
'Cause no one's gonna find you
When you're hiding in the dark
No one's gonna find you
When you're hiding in the dark
No one's gonna find you
When you're hiding in the dark
No one's gonna find you
So won't you, so won't you talk to me?
It's time to decide
'Cause no one's gonna save you
If you don't swim for the boat
No one's gonna save you
If you won't take the rope
No one's gonna find you
When you're hiding in the dark
No one's gonna find you
And it's end love, the sky is falling
End love, the sky is falling
The sky is falling
So sugar, so sugar dance with me
This one last time
We got no reason, we got no reason I can see
To hold back tonight
'Cause no one's gonna catch you
If you can't just let go
No one's gonna love you
If you can't let love show
No one's gonna find you
When you're hiding in the dark
No one's gonna find you
And it's end love, the sky is falling
End love, the sky is falling
The sky is falling
Oh sugar, oh sugar can't you see
how hard I'm trying?
You know you gotta, you know you gotta eventually
Make up your mind (You gotta make up your mind)
And it's end love, the sky is falling
End love, the sky is falling
The sky is falling
End love, the sky is falling
End love, the sky is falling
End love, the sky is, the sky is falling
C-C-C-Cinnamon lips and candy kisses, on my tongue. Fun!
B-B-B-Buttery eyes, if only cries could come from those eyes. Oh!
Have you landed yet and, if so, would you let me know?
I'm tired of looking up into those starry eyes.
Does it rain where you are? Does it snow?
And, if so, remind me not to go there, the weather affects my knee.
I've never felt this way before.
C-C-C-Cinnamon Lips, go powder your cheeks and meet your
new beau, oh...
C-C-C-Counting sheep, if only sheep could put me to sleep, oh...
I've never felt this way before.
Some day (one day) you'll miss me.
Mundane Sundays, when I'm gone.
One day (some day) you'll miss me.
One day when I'm gone (adieu and so long)
One day when I'm gone!
No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Have you landed yet and, if so, would you let me know?
Stop getting me off track.
I mean it, there's a problem here.
This time it is for real...
how can I make myself more clear?
I never say quite what I mean, and never mean quite what I say,
and how did that get out of me, and what the hell did I mean to
say?
This time it is for real.
This is a real emergency.
This time I swear it is the truth...
this must be dealt with urgently!
I never say quite what I mean, and never mean quite what I say,
and how did that get out of me, and what the hell did I mean to
say?
There's a fire. There's a fire.
I really mean it now,
this time I swear I have not lied.
This isn't like the last time...
I swear to God I have not lied!
I never say quite what I mean, and never mean quite what I say,
and how did that get out of me, and what the hell did I mean to
say?
I've been trying to get my head around,
what the fuck is happening?
I'm trying to make some sense out of
whatcha doin' with my head.
it's like a skydive
You're getting high
That kinda thrill that'll maybe kill ya,
It's like I'm eye-to-eye,
Wild-eyed, oooohh
I don't know what to tell ya,
There's just this thing about 'cha.
So maybe you can help me clear this up,
cause me myself I just can't tell.
Are you some kind of dark sorcerer
Am I under some kinda of spell?
Cause I could go on for days,
just crazy about it, oh,
you're so respectable,
mmm but I'm an animal,
It's like a skydive,
I'm gettin' high,
The kinda thrill that could just kill ya,
It's like I'm eye-to-eye
Wild-eyed, ooooohh
I don't know what to tell ya,
There's just this thing about 'cha,
And aren't you gonna tell me what comes next,
or am I just supposed to know?
Do I make my own decisions here,
or am I under your control?
Cause I could go on for days,
just crazy about it, oh,
and it's startin' to getcha now,
oooh now you're comfortable,
It's like a skydive,
I'm gettin' high,
The kinda thrill that could just kill ya,
It's like I'm eye-to-eye
Wild-eyed, ooooohh
I don't know what to tell ya,
Do you think I'm out of line?
Do you think I'm out of line?
Well maybe it's fine, maybe it's alright it's like I'm at a, a wild time,
yeah I don't know what to tell ya
Fingers blistered from the nightly scratching at the window which won't open far enough to let air in.
The house wins.
Oh the house always wins.
Feral cats are screaming at the clouds beneath the window with the crask so small that nothing gets within.
The house wins.
Oh the house always wins.
You don't have to be alone to be lonely,
You might as well give in.
Telephones are howling at the cats out in the alley and the window offers nothing in the din.
The house wins.
Oh the house always wins.
Clouds uncage the car alarms to chase the cats and telephones.
Fingers rake and rasp away themr skin.
The house wins.
Oh the house always wins.
You don't have to be alone to be lonely,
You might as well give in.
Yeah you don't have to be alone to be lonely,
You might as well give in.
Ice age upon catastrophic ice age of selection and only one result has trickled in...
The house wins.
Oh the house always wins.
If evil were a lesser breed then justice after all these years the righteous would have freed the world of sin.
The house wins.
Oh the house always wins.
You don't hav to be alone to be lonely
You might as well give in.
You don't have to be sick to be dying
You might as well give in.
You don't have to have lost to be lost.
Oh give in.
You don't have to be alone to be lonenly
