A society is a group of people involved in persistent social interaction, or a large social grouping sharing the same geographical or social territory, typically subject to the same political authority and dominant cultural expectations. Societies are characterized by patterns of relationships (social relations) between individuals who share a distinctive culture and institutions; a given society may be described as the sum total of such relationships among its constituent members. In the social sciences, a larger society often evinces stratification or dominance patterns in subgroups.
Insofar as it is collaborative, a society can enable its members to benefit in ways that would not otherwise be possible on an individual basis; both individual and social (common) benefits can thus be distinguished, or in many cases found to overlap.
A society can also consist of like-minded people governed by their own norms and values within a dominant, larger society. This is sometimes referred to as a subculture, a term used extensively within criminology.
What Is Theosophy? What Is the Theosophical Society? What Do Theosophists Believe? Theosophy is more of a philosophy of religion than a religion per se. The word theosophy comes from the Greek words theos “god” and sophia “wisdom”. Literally, theosophy means “divine wisdom.” The roots of this philosophy can be traced back to ancient Gnosticism, with borrowings from Greek philosophy and medieval mysticism. Modern theosophy also draws heavily on Hinduism. The Theosophical Society was founded in New York in 1875 by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, a Russian-born spiritualist, and Henry Steel Olcott, an American lawyer and newspaperman. Three years later, they moved the international base of operations for the Theosophical Society to India. Theosophy teaches that all religions contain elements ...

The term "Akashic Records" was a term coined by 19th century Theosophists to refer to impressions of past events that are said to exist on non-physical planes. On these planes, the clairvoyant can find a record of the earth's history as well as the past life history of individuals. Early Theosophists systematically studied this "memory of nature" and described the subject in a scientific manner, providing a sound explanation of how these visions are recorded and how they can be accessed. 2015. What is THEOSOPHY? What does THEOSOPHY mean? THEOSOPHY meaning, definition & explanation. Theosophy is a collection of mystical and occultist philosophies concerning, or seeking direct knowledge of, the presumed mysteries of life and nature, particularly of the nature of divinity and the origin and purpose of the universe. Theosophy is considered part of Western esotericism, which believes that hidden knowledge or wisdom from the Ancient past offers a path to enlightenment and salvation. Theosophy comes from the Greek theosophia, which combines theos, 'God' and sophia, 'wisdom', meaning 'Divine wisdom'. From the late 19th century onwards, the term Theosophy has generally been used to refer to the religio-philosophic doctrines of the Theosophical Society, founded in New York City in 187...
