De facto, muitos consideram "A Arte da Guerra" como a origem do próprio conceito de estratégia. Apesar de ser um tratado puramente militar, os conselhos e ensinamentos de Sun Tzu são perfeitamente adaptáveis ao mundo das empresas e dos negócios; basta para isso olhar para a concorrência como o inimigo e para o mercado como o campo de batalha.

Sun Tzu sa at krigføring er statens viktigeste oppgave. Det er et spørsmål om liv og død, beskyttelse eller ødeleggelse.
Å må bli nøye gjennomtenkt og analysert. Strukturer strategien din ifølge følgende fem faktorer,
evaluer de i forrhold til beregninger for å finne utkommet på forrhånd.

Militærets lover og disiplin består av Organisering og reguleringer, kommandokjeden og håndtering av logistikk.
Det er ingen generaler som ikke ha hørt om disse fem
De som forstår dem vil seire. De som ikke forstår dem vil feile.
Så når man evaluer i forrhold til beregninger og forsøker å finne utkommet på forrhånd. la de sammenliknes slik:
Hvilken av de to styrkene har sterkest moral?
Hvilken general har best evner?
Hvem har fått fordelene av «Himmel» og «Jord»?
På hvilken side er disiplinen grundigest håndhevet?
Hvilken hær er sterkest?
Hvilke offiserer og tropper best trent?
Hvem har klarest belønning og straff?
Fra disse vil jeg vite seier og tap.
Hvis en general følger mine metoder for beregning og du setter han i tjeneste, vil han garantert seire. Og bør bli beholdt.
