Pseudofungi is a heterokont grouping, also known as the Heterokontimycotina. It consists of the Oomycota and Hyphochytridiomycetes. Although numerous biochemical, ultrastructural, and genetic traits clearly place them in the heterokonts, their growth form (featuring Hyphae) and mode of nutrition (osmotrophy) resembles the fungi (which are not closely related).
What are fungicides and how do they work: Fungicides kill fungi and fungal-like organisms. Fungi are a a unique group of organisms—so unique that they are put into a separate category called a 'Kingdom'. In Kingdom Fungi, there are disease calling organisms that cause rust, scab, powdery mildew, leaf spots and blights (to name but a few!). There are some fake fungi, or pseudo fungi, that are in their own kingdom. Fungicides are used to stop fungi from attacking plants, and are best used as part of an integrated strategy that looks to improve how the plant is grown, what type of plant is grown, and how to prevent disease.
