Couple months later and the Dodge evens the playing field and now has K&N; filter, Flowmaster exhaust and programmer to throw some revenge at the Vortec powered GM, lol. In the GM's defense, it had huge 285/series tires and a couple extra passengers (you can hear Andy yelling at the back seat rider in the xtra-cab for slowing him down, lol) doubt it would have made enough difference for him to complain though. The early model '04 HEMI and early model '99 Vortec are very close in performance actually (GM's LS-based Vortec motors have always been a bit underrated, just as the LS1 powered F-bodies are as well.

General Motors Vortec engine
Vortec is a trademarked name for a line of big engines for General Motors trucks. The name first appeared in a 1984 advertisement for the 1985 model year 4.3 L V6 that used "vortex technology" to create a vortex inside the combustion chamber, creating a better air/fuel atomization. Now it is used on a wide range of different engines. Modern Vortec engines are named for their approximate displacement in cubic centimetres.
