David Gregory "Dave" Brainard (born February 9, 1975) is a Grammy nominated American music executive best known for his work in country music in the entertainment industry.
Dave Brainard was born in Seoul Korea and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, the second of four children born to South Korean So Un Jo, and Greg Brainard, a retired Air Force Master Sergeant. He graduated from Papillion-La Vista High School in 1993 and went on to attend University of Nebraska Omaha for 1 year. Afterwards Brainard served 5 years in the United States Air Force Band stationed in Omaha, before moving to Nashville, Tennessee in 1999.
In 2001 Dave Brainard began his publishing career writing songs for Balmur Corus Music. Afterwards Brainard wrote for Bigger Picture Music Group formerly Big Picture Music Group. In that time Brainard wrote songs for Neal McCoy, Sammy Kershaw, Kelly Coffee, Ricochet, Tebey Ottoh, and Brooks & Dunn. During this time Brainard went on radio tours, playing on the road with artists such as Rebecca Lynn Howard, Anthony Smith, Marcel, David Nail, and Jessica Andrews.
Brigadier-General David Legge Brainard (December 21, 1856 − March 22, 1946) was an American arctic explorer and soldier.
Brainard was born in Norway, New York, the fifth son to Alanson Brainard and Maria C. Legge.
Brainard enlisted in the US Army in September, 1876, serving at Fort Keogh, Montana Territory during the Great Sioux War of 1876. On May 7, 1877, Brainard fought in the Battle of Little Muddy Creek, Montana, where he was Wounded in action in the face and right hand. He also served during the Nez Perce War and Bannock War of 1877 and 1878 under Colonel Nelson Appleton Miles, in Montana.
In 1880, he volunteered and was selected for the Howgate Expedition, which was canceled. However, the next year he was detailed as first sergeant for the ill-fated Lady Franklin Bay Expedition under Adolphus Greely. Over the three years of this expedition he continuously kept a journal. Among the men to die on this expedition was James Booth Lockwood, second-in-command of the expedition and Brainard's companion on many excursions, including their record breaking push north to 83°23'30". Brainard wrote of his passing on April 9, 1884:
Jerrod Lee Niemann (born July 24, 1979) is an American country music singer and songwriter. He has released one single for Category 5 Records and three albums for Sea Gayle Music/Arista Nashville: Judge Jerrod & the Hung Jury (2010), Free the Music (2012), and High Noon (2014). These albums have produced a combined six Top 40 entries on the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts, including the number 1 singles "Lover, Lover" (a cover of Sonia Dada's "You Don't Treat Me No Good") and "Drink to That All Night". He has also co-written three singles for Garth Brooks: the Chris LeDoux tribute "Good Ride Cowboy", as well as "That Girl Is a Cowboy" and "Midnight Sun". Jamey Johnson, Neal McCoy, Julie Roberts, Flynnville Train, and Zona Jones have also recorded Niemann's songs.
Niemann was born in Harper, Kansas, but raised in Liberal, Kansas. From an early age, he was influenced by country acts such as Lefty Frizzell, Keith Whitley, and George Strait. He learned to play his first musical instrument on a Tracy Lawrence autographed guitar his mother won in a contest at a Lawrence concert. Niemann joined the non-profit organization Kansas Kids, a division of American Kids, and continued competing in talent competitions.
"You Don't Treat Me No Good" is a song recorded by the American soul group Sonia Dada. Released in 1992, the song was a number-one hit in Australia, spending four weeks at the top of the ARIA Charts. Eighteen years later, country music singer Jerrod Niemann released a cover version under the title "Lover, Lover," and his version reached number one on the U.S. Hot Country Songs chart.
Glenn A. Baker of Billboard magazine described the song's chart success as "the most unexpected[…]breakout in the Australian market for many years." He also cited it as an example of the label's success with breaking new acts outside their home markets.SAFM in Adelaide was among the first stations to play the song.
Joe Rassenfoss of the Rocky Mountain News, in his review of the album, called the song a "catchy vocal entreaty."
"You Don't Treat Me No Good" debuted at number 38 on the Australian ARIA Charts dated for November 29, 1992. After spending six weeks in the number two position behind Whitney Houston's version of "I Will Always Love You," the song reached a peak of number one on the chart dated for the week ending February 28, 1993. It held that position for four weeks and fell to number four on the chart dated for March 28. It was also ranked number three on the ARIA year-end chart. Although the song did not chart in the United States, the self-titled album from which it was taken sold more than 100,000 copies in the United States after its release in 1992.
