Here we show big walking route through this formerly Jewish district, strolling a couple of miles back in time. It'll take you right through the center including shopping areas, past the Cathedral, Alcazar and the old quarter of Santa Cruz where we're going to focus our attention for this segment.
Be advised many of these little streets in Santa Cruz and the little plazas have been discovered by the tourists, so depending on when you're here the main lanes might get a little crowded but there's always the lovely side lanes that you can find for a more peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. So just follow your nose when you're wandering around in Santa Cruz district, and we will give you some tips here on how to navigate and what to see.
Among Europe’s best neighborhoods for strolling, the main part of this warren is only about six blocks in each direction, enabling you to wander freely and discover it in a couple of hours. Santa Cruz is so magical you should return in the warm atmosphere of early evening to appreciate the soft lighting, and settle into a quaint little tavern for dinner. Once is just not enough for a special district like this, which also has several small hotels that make ideal places to stay.

Its old town is the largest in Spain (covering almost four square kilometers), and is one of the three largest in Europe along with Venice and Genoa. The Seville harbor, located about 80 km from the Atlantic Ocean, is the only river port in Spain.
The University of Seville was founded in 1505. Recently ranked the third university in Spain (and 190th in the world), it currently has over 50,000 students.[citation needed]

Bugs Bunny is an American animated character created in 1938 at Leon Schlesinger Productions, later Warner Bros. Cartoons. Bugs is an anthropomorphic gray hare or rabbit and is famous for his flippant, insouciant personality, a pronounced Brooklyn accent, and his portrayal as a trickster. He has primarily appeared in animated cartoons, most notably the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of theatrical short films. His popularity there led to his becoming a corporate mascot of the Warner Bros. company. Bugs has appeared in more films than any other cartoon character and is the ninth most portrayed film personality in the world.
According to Bugs Bunny: 50 Years and Only One Grey Hare, Bugs was born on July 27, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York in a warren under Ebbets Field, home of the Brooklyn Dodgers. In reality, he was created by many animators and staff, including Tex Avery, who directed A Wild Hare, Bugs' debut role, and Robert McKimson, who created the definitive "Bugs Bunny" character design. According to Mel Blanc, the character's original voice actor, Bugs has a Flatbush accent. Bugs has had numerous catchphrases, the most prominent being a casual "Eh... What's up, doc?", usually said while chewing a carrot.

Renowned as one of the most beautiful in Spain. The oldest royal palace still in use in Europe. One of the best remaining examples of mudéjar architecture. The upper levels of the Alcázar are still used by the royal family as the official Seville residence. Giralda A former minaret that was converted to a bell tower for the Cathedral of Seville. The tower is 104.1 m in height and it was one of the most important symbols in the medieval city. The tower was begun under the architect Ahmad Ben Baso in 1184. Plaza de España A plaza located in the Parque de María Luisa. Built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. A landmark example of the Renaissance Revival style in Spanish architecture. Today the Plaza de España mainly consists of Government buildings. Maria Luisa Park A public park that stretches along the Guadalquivir River. It is Seville's principal green area. Most of the grounds that were used for the park were formerly the gardens of the Palace of San Telmo. They were donated to the city of Seville in 1893. Seville Cathedral A Roman Catholic cathedral. The largest Gothic cathedral and the third-largest church in the world. The largest cathedral in the world. The burial site of Christopher Columbus. Metropol Parasol A wooden structure located at La Encarnación square, in the old quarter. Was designed by the German architect Jürgen Mayer-Hermann and completed in April 2011. Has 150 by 70 metres and an height of 26 metres. Claims to be the largest wooden structure in the world. Torre del Oro A dodecagonal military watchtower. Constructed in the first third of the 13th century, the tower served as a prison during the Middle Ages. Its name comes from the golden shine it projected on the river, due to its building materials (a mixture of mortar, lime and pressed hay). Costurero de la Reina A building constructed in the late nineteenth century in the gardens of the Palace of San Telmo. Was the guard house or garden retreat. It is the oldest building in Seville in the neomudéjar style. In a form of a small hexagonal castle with turrets at the corners. Isla Mágica A theme park. as constructed on the former grounds of the Expo '92 World's Fair in Seville and opened in 1997. It features a large lake and many other attractions including roller coasters and various other types of rides as well as both live and cinematic shows. Seville Fair A fair that generally begins two weeks after the Semana Santa, or Easter Holy Week. Officially begins at midnight on Monday, and runs six days, ending on the following Sunday. Each day the fiesta begins with the parade of carriages and riders, at midday. Plot: Set 18 months where Season 6 of '24' left off, former government agent Jack Bauer is in a self-imposed exile in the fictitious African country of Sangala where he hopes to escape from a U.S. investigation of him for his past methods, and to run from his past. Bauer works at a mission school for orphaned children run by his friend Carl Benton. The country is at the mercy of a rogue warlord general named Juma who is plotting a coup to overthrow the government and his right-hand man Colonel Dubaku, is abducting orphan boys and forcibly recruiting them into Juma's army. Bauer and Benton must work together to save the dozen or so boys and try to get them out of the country before Juma takes over. Meanwhile in Washington D.C., it is Inauguration Day where the outgoing President Noah Daniels is handing over the presidency to the first female president Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones). Hearing about the coup, Daniels wants to evacuate the country before it falls to the rogue general, while Taylor thinks otherwise. Elsewhere, Taylor's son Roger and his fiancée Samantha get wind of information from a friend about suspicious money transactions where he works at a local brokerage firm. But neither he or Roger are aware that a corrupt corporate mogul, Jonas Hodges, is plotting with General Juma to overthrow the government for monetary purposes and will do anything to keep his nefarious plans under wraps.

Its Old Town, the third largest in Europe with an area of 4 square kilometres (2 sq mi), contains three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Alcázar palace complex, the Cathedral and the General Archive of the Indies. The Seville harbour, located about 80 kilometres (50 miles) from the Atlantic Ocean, is the only river port in Spain.

Sevilla [seˈβiʎa] ist die Hauptstadt der Autonomen Region Andalusien und der Provinz Sevilla von Spanien. Mit über 700.000 Einwohnern ist Sevilla viertgrößte Stadt Spaniens. Nach einer späten Legende wurde die Stadt von dem griechischen Helden Herakles gegründet. Die Einwohner werden als Sevillanos bezeichnet.
Die Stadt ist ein wichtiger Industrie- und Handelsplatz und Touristenzentrum. Sevilla liegt zu beiden Seiten des bis hierhin auch für Seeschiffe befahrbaren Guadalquivir, in einer weiten und fruchtbaren Ebene. Mit ihren zahlreichen Türmen bietet Sevilla von allen Seiten einen imposanten Anblick. Die eigentliche Stadt nimmt das östliche Ufer des Guadalquivir ein und ist von den Vorstädten Los Humeros, Cesteria, Baratillo, Carreteria, Resolana mit dem großen Hospital La Caridad, San Bernardo, San Roque y la Calzada und Macarena mit dem Hospital de la Sangre umgeben. Von der alten, mit 66 Türmen versehenen Ringmauer, welche die innere Stadt umgab, sind nur noch Reste vorhanden. Am rechten Ufer des Flusses breitet sich die große Vorstadt Triana aus.

Seville (/səˈvɪl/; Spanish: Sevilla, Spanish pronunciation: [seˈβiʎa] ( listen), locally: [seˈβiʝa]) is a Spanish city, it is the capital and largest city of the autonomous community of Andalusia and the province of Seville. It is situated on the plain of the River Guadalquivir. The inhabitants of the city are known as sevillanos (feminine form: sevillanas) or hispalenses, after the Roman name of the city, Hispalis. Seville has a municipal population of about 703,000 as of 2011, and a metropolitan population of about 1.5 million, making it the fourth-largest city in Spain and the 30th most populous municipality in the European Union. Its Old Town, the third largest in Europe with an area of 4 square kilometres (2 sq mi), contains three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Alcázar palace complex, the Cathedral and the General Archive of the Indies. The Seville harbour, located about 80 kilometres (50 miles) from the Atlantic Ocean, is the only river port in Spain.

Sevilla [seˈβiʎa] ist die Hauptstadt der Autonomen Region Andalusien und der Provinz Sevilla von Spanien. Mit über 700.000 Einwohnern ist Sevilla viertgrößte Stadt Spaniens. Nach einer späten Legende wurde die Stadt von dem griechischen Helden Herakles gegründet. Die Einwohner werden als Sevillanos bezeichnet.
Die Stadt ist ein wichtiger Industrie- und Handelsplatz und Touristenzentrum. Sevilla liegt zu beiden Seiten des bis hierhin auch für Seeschiffe befahrbaren Guadalquivir, in einer weiten und fruchtbaren Ebene. Mit ihren zahlreichen Türmen bietet Sevilla von allen Seiten einen imposanten Anblick. Die eigentliche Stadt nimmt das östliche Ufer des Guadalquivir ein und ist von den Vorstädten Los Humeros, Cesteria, Baratillo, Carreteria, Resolana mit dem großen Hospital La Caridad, San Bernardo, San Roque y la Calzada und Macarena mit dem Hospital de la Sangre umgeben. Von der alten, mit 66 Türmen versehenen Ringmauer, welche die innere Stadt umgab, sind nur noch Reste vorhanden. Am rechten Ufer des Flusses breitet sich die große Vorstadt Triana aus.

Alcázar of Seville
A royal palace. Renowned as one of the most beautiful in Spain. The oldest royal palace still in use in Europe. One of the best remaining examples of mudéjar architecture. The upper levels of the Alcázar are still used by the royal family as the official Seville residence.
Giralda
A former minaret that was converted to a bell tower for the Cathedral of Seville. The tower is 104.1 m in height and it was one of the most important symbols in the medieval city. The tower was begun under the architect Ahmad Ben Baso in 1184.
Plaza de España
A plaza located in the Parque de María Luisa. Built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. A landmark example of the Renaissance Revival style in Spanish architecture. Today the Plaza de España mainly consists of Government buildings.
Maria Luisa Park
A public park that stretches along the Guadalquivir River. It is Seville's principal green area. Most of the grounds that were used for the park were formerly the gardens of the Palace of San Telmo. They were donated to the city of Seville in 1893.
Seville Cathedral
A Roman Catholic cathedral. The largest Gothic cathedral and the third-largest church in the world. The largest cathedral in the world. The burial site of Christopher Columbus.
Metropol Parasol
A wooden structure located at La Encarnación square, in the old quarter. Was designed by the German architect Jürgen Mayer-Hermann and completed in April 2011. Has 150 by 70 metres and an height of 26 metres. Claims to be the largest wooden structure in the world.
Torre del Oro
A dodecagonal military watchtower. Constructed in the first third of the 13th century, the tower served as a prison during the Middle Ages. Its name comes from the golden shine it projected on the river, due to its building materials (a mixture of mortar, lime and pressed hay).
Costurero de la Reina
A building constructed in the late nineteenth century in the gardens of the Palace of San Telmo. Was the guard house or garden retreat. It is the oldest building in Seville in the neomudéjar style. In a form of a small hexagonal castle with turrets at the corners.
Isla Mágica
A theme park. as constructed on the former grounds of the Expo '92 World's Fair in Seville and opened in 1997. It features a large lake and many other attractions including roller coasters and various other types of rides as well as both live and cinematic shows.
Seville Fair
A fair that generally begins two weeks after the Semana Santa, or Easter Holy Week. Officially begins at midnight on Monday, and runs six days, ending on the following Sunday. Each day the fiesta begins with the parade of carriages and riders, at midday.

Seville is the artistic, cultural, and financial capital of southern Spain. It is situated on the plain of the River Guadalquivir, with an average elevation of 23 feet above sea level. The population of the city of Seville is just over 700,000. The population of the metropolitan area is 1.5 million, ranking as the fourth largest metropolitan area of Spain.
The video begins at the Plaza de España, one of Seville's most easily recognized buildings and the epitome of the Moorish Revival in Spanish architecture. Next it is into the old quarter of the city where our first stop was the Royal Alcázar, a royal palace which was originally a Moorish fort. Next we walk to The Cathedral of Seville which is the largest Gothic cathedral and the fourth largest Christian church in the world. Our walk continues through the narrow streets of the Santa Cruz district. We were treated to flemenco music and dance during our lunch at the Macarena Hotel. After lunch I walk around the Parliament building of the autonomous community of Andalucía which was across the street from the hotel. It was back on the bus after lunch as we drive past the El Alamillo Bridge and bull ring as we drive out of town.

During the Muslim rule in Spain, Seville came under the jurisdiction of the Caliphate of Córdoba before becoming the independent Taifa of Seville; later it was ruled by the Muslim Almoravids and the Almohads until finally being incorporated into the Christian Kingdom of Castile under Ferdinand III in 1248.
After the discovery of the Americas, Seville became one of the economic centres of the Spanish Empire as its port monopolised the trans-oceanic trade and the Casa de Contratación (House of Trade) wielded its power, opening a Golden Age of arts and literature. In 1519, Ferdinand Magellan departed from Seville for the first circumnavigation of the Earth. Coinciding with the Baroque period of European history, the 17th century in Seville represented the most brilliant flowering of the city's culture; then began a gradual economic and demographic decline as silting in the Guadalquivir forced the trade monopoly to relocate to the nearby port of Cádiz.

Dating back to the 8th century and formerly the oldest citadel built by the Moors, the palace was built on the ruins of a Roman fortress when the Almohaden transformed it into a palace. Following the conquest of the city, the Christian kings and most notably, Don Pedro, employed the best Moorish builders and artists, the Mudejaren. Seville Fair - Feria de Sevilla 2012
The city of Sevilla in Spain hosts an annual festival each year at the end of April or Early May. The festival features a neighborhood of casitas (small tents). Each casita is essentially a private party with food, entertainment, and dancing. The attendees typically dress up in their finest traditional Spanish attire, and arrive on horseback, or on horse carriage. There is also a typical fair "fun zone" with food/rides. Grated windows, flowerpots on the walls and old wooden gates are typical of this area of the city that exemplifies the traditional Andalusian way of life. The Plaza De Toros and the seasonal hustle and bustle of its bullfights, dominates the El Arenal, the city’s former harbor district. Designed in the 18th century by Vicente San Martin, the bullfight arena was fully restored in the middle of the 19th century. La Giralda and the Patio de los Naranjos are the only remains of Sevilla´s Almohad Mosque. The rest of the temple was destroyed by the Christians. Construction began in 1401 and it became the largest Gothic cathedral in the world. After the Petersdom in Rome and St.Paul’s in London, it is the third largest Christian building in the world. With its rich cultural inheritance bequeathed by both the Moors and the Christians, Seville is a truly incredible city with a flamboyant way of life and fiery Latin temperament!

In the Hall of the Envoys, the wall tiles contain many Moorish designs, and it was here that the country's rulers received envoys from abroad. The furnishings and household goods of the royal private rooms were collected from around most of the known world.
The Gala Dining Room is particularly outstanding. It contains precious wall carpets and crystal chandeliers from Moreno and a huge table dominates almost the entire length of the room.
Moorish arcades lead to the Andalusian Gardens that were planted in place of the original kitchen gardens and many of the courtyards feature a small water fountain that adds to the calm atmosphere.
Real Alcazar is the most beautiful example of Mudejaren design, a fairy tale from the 'One Thousand And One Nights'!

Dating back to the 8th century and formerly the oldest citadel built by the Moors, the palace was built on the ruins of a Roman fortress when the Almohaden transformed it into a palace. Following the conquest of the city, the Christian kings and most notably, Don Pedro, employed the best Moorish builders and artists, the Mudejaren.
In the Hall of the Envoys, the wall tiles contain many Moorish designs, and it was here that the country's rulers received envoys from abroad. The furnishings and household goods of the royal private rooms were collected from around most of the known world.
The Gala Dining Room is particularly outstanding. It contains precious wall carpets and crystal chandeliers from Moreno and a huge table dominates almost the entire length of the room.
Moorish arcades lead to the Andalusian Gardens that were planted in place of the original kitchen gardens and many of the courtyards feature a small water fountain that adds to the calm atmosphere.
Real Alcazar is the most beautiful example of Mudejaren design, a fairy tale from the 'One Thousand And One Nights'!

Seville, the capital of the Spanish community of Andalusia, is one of the oldest cities in Europe. Its architecture is a reflection of its tumultuous history with long spells of occupation by the Romans and later the Moors.
