A common market is usually referred to as the first stage towards the creation of a single market. It usually is built upon a free trade area with relatively free movement of capital and of services, but not so advanced in reduction of the rest of the trade barriers.
A single market is a type of trade bloc in which most trade barriers have been removed (for goods) with some common policies on product regulation, and freedom of movement of the factors of production (capital and labour) and of enterprise and services. The goal is that the movement of capital, labour, goods, and services between the members is as easy as within them. The physical (borders), technical (standards) and fiscal (taxes) barriers among the member states are removed to the maximum extent possible. These barriers obstruct the freedom of movement of the four factors of production.
A unified market is the last stage and ultimate goal of a single market. It requires the total free movement of goods, services (including financial services), capital and people without regard to national boundaries.
The CARICOM Single Market and Economy, also known as the Caribbean Single Market and Economy (CSME), is an integrated development strategy envisioned at the 10th Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) which took place in July 1990 in Grand Anse, Grenada. The Grand Anse Declaration had three key Features:
A precursor to CARICOM and its CSME was the Caribbean Free Trade Agreement, formed in 1965 and dissolved in 1973.
The CSME will be implemented through a number of phases, first being the CARICOM Single Market (CSM). The CSM was initially implemented on January 1, 2006 with the signing of the document for its implementation by six original member states. However the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas establishing the CSME had been provisionally applied by twelve member states of CARICOM from February 4, 2002 under a Protocol on the Provisional Application of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas. Nine protocols had been drafted to amend the Original Treaty of Chaguaramas and had been consolidated into the Revised Treaty signed at Nassau in 2001, with a number of the Protocols having been applied in part or in full from their creation in 1997-1998 including the provision on the Free Movement of Skilled Nationals.
The CARICOM Youth Ambassadors' (SVG) Committee presents its CSME Awareness video series, aimed at raising awareness of the benefits of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy to CARICOM Nationals, especially the youth. At the end of the four-part series, it is the Committee's hope that youth will feel more empowered and benefit from regional opportunities.

The CARICOM Single Market and Economy is intended to benefit the people of the Region by providing more and better opportunities to produce and sell our goods and services and to attract investment. It will create one large market among the participating member states. The main objectives of the CSME are: full use of labour (full employment) and full exploitation of the other factors of production (natural resources and capital); competitive production leading to greater variety and quantity of products and services to trade with other countries. It is expected that these objectives will in turn provide improved standards of living and work and sustained economic development. Key elements of the Single Market and Economy include: Free movement of goods and services - through measures ...

CARICOM COUNTIRES STILL TO REALISE CSME BENEFITS Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines Dr Ralph Gonsalves said that while countries across the region have been successful at the Caribbean Single Market (CSM), they are yet to reach the “economy” aspect of that accord.. Motionless in time
My instincts are a crime
Eventually he'll see
It's swirling into me
The air surrounds my mind
I'm swimming through the sky
Please liquefy my need
I cannot learn to breathe
Can't keep pretending not to hate
Just take me down and shred my fate
This time you've got me bound and tied
My turn is up, your time to hide
These anxious ties restraining me
Forgive me now, I must go free
I'll liquefy your needs
You will not learn to breathe
You will not learn to breathe
There's no escaping now, you see
'Cause time is suffocating me
I cannot learn to breathe
Motionless in time
My instincts are a crime
Eventually he'll see
It's swirling into me
The air surrounds my mind
I'm swimming through the sky
Please liquefy my need
I cannot learn to breathe
