Yogyakarta
Yogyakarta (/ËŒjÉ’É¡jəˈkÉ‘Ë?rtÉ™/ or /ËŒjoÊŠÉ¡jəˈkÉ‘Ë?rtÉ™/; also Jogja or Jogjakarta) is a city and the capital of Yogyakarta Special Region in Java, Indonesia. It is renowned as a center of education (Kota Pelajar), classical Javanese fine art and culture such as batik, ballet, drama, music, poetry, and puppet shows. Yogyakarta was the Indonesian capital during the Indonesian National Revolution from 1945 to 1949, with Gedung Agung as the president's office. One of the districts in Yogyakarta, Kotagede, was the capital of the Mataram Sultanate between 1575 and 1640. The city is named after the Indian city of Ayodhya from the Ramayana epic. Yogya means "suitable, fit, proper", and karta, "prosperous, flourishing" (i.e., "a city that is fit to prosper"). Its population was 388,627 inhabitants at the 2010 census and its built-up (or metro) area was home to, 4,010,436 inhabitants spread on 2 cities (Yogyakarta and Magelang) and 65 districts spread on Sleman, Klaten, Bantul, Kulon Progo and Magelang regencies. While urbanization sprawls, Yogyakarta-Magelang and Surakarta are being agglomerated in a few years. The Dutch name of the city is Djokjakarta.

Special Region of Yogyakarta
The Special Region of Yogyakarta (/ËŒjÉ’É¡jəˈkÉ‘Ë?rtÉ™/ or /ËŒjoÊŠÉ¡jəˈkÉ‘Ë?rtÉ™/;Indonesian: Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, or DIY) is a region of Indonesia in middle Java. Its administrative capital is city of Yogyakarta.
Although it is a separate administrative entity, Yogyakarta is historically and culturally part of the Central Java. It is the only region in Indonesia that is still governed by a pre-colonial monarchy, the Sultan of Yogyakarta, who serves as the hereditary governor of the region.
In Javanese it is pronounced [joɡjaˈkartɔ], and named after the city of Ayodhya in Javanese-Hindu mythology.
The Dutch name of the Special Region is Djokdjakarta.
History
The Sultanate has existed in various forms through prehistory, and survived through the rule of the Dutch and the 1942 invasion of the Dutch East Indies by the Japanese Empire. In August 1945 Indonesia's first president, Sukarno proclaimed the independence of the Indonesian Republic, and by September of that year, Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX and duke Sri Paku Alam VIII had sent letters to Sukarno expressing their support for the newly-born nation of Indonesia, in which they acknowledged the Yogyakarta Sultanate as part of the Indonesian Republic. The Sunanate of Surakarta did the same, and both of the Javanese kingdoms were awarded special status as special regions within Indonesian Republic. However, due to a leftist anti-royalist uprising in Surakarta, the Sunanate of Surakarta lost its special administrative status in 1946 and was absorbed into the province of Central Java.

Malioboro Street Yogyakarta (Jalan Malioboro Jogja) is maybe the most famous street in whole Indonesia. Especially on the weekend it's perfect for just walking around a bit, shopping, watching some people, eating, drinking or just for meeting your friends. I didn't expect that so many people go to Jl Malioboro. But even though it was crowded, I still could walk there and had a lot of fun. Malioboro Street Yogyakarta (Jalan Malioboro Jogja) is maybe the most famous street in whole Indonesia. Especially on the weekend it's perfect for just walking around a bit, shopping, watching some people, eating, drinking or just for meeting your friends.
I didn't expect that so many people go to Jl Malioboro. But even though it was crowded, I still could walk there and had a lot of fun.
What you can find the most in Malioboro Street is Batik (traditional Indonesian clothes from Java, especially from Yogyakarta) and Oleh Oleh khas Yogyakarta (traditional Indonesian Snacks). Furthermore there were plenty options of Yogyakarta Street Food.

KLa Project adalah kelompok musik asal Indonesia yang dibentuk oleh Katon Bagaskara, Lilo (Romulo Radjadin), Adi Adrian, dan Ari Burhani pada tahun 1988. Mereka merilis album pertamanya "KLa" pada tahun 1989 yang mencetak hits seperti Rentang Asmara, Tentang Kita, Waktu Tersisa, dan Laguku. Pada tahun 1991, KLa meluncurkan album keduanya bertajuk "Kedua" di mana terdapat lagu monumental Yogyakarta. Sementara album ketiga (Pasir Putih - 1992) mereka mencetak hits seperti Tak Bisa Ke Lain Hati dan Belahan Jiwa.diperoleh dari inisial personel band ini, sementara penggunaan huruf "A" kecil bertujuan untuk menandakan adanya dua personel yang memiliki inisial huruf tersebut. Lagu yang diambil dari album 'Kedua' Kla Project ini, sangat fenomenal dan me-legenda.
Kedua adalah album kedua KLa Project yang dirilis tahun 1990 dengan mengusung lagu andalan Yogyakarta. Ada 2 versi mengenai urutan lagu pembuka dalam album ini. Versi pertama menampilkan Yogyakarta sebagai lagu pembuka. Namun ada versi lain yang menampilkan Lagu Baru sebagai lagu pembuka dalam album ini.
Album ini meraih 3 penghargaan BASF Awards 1991 untuk kategori lagu terbaik, aransemen terbaik, dan pop tekno terbaik untuk lagu Yogyakarta. "Yogyakarta" juga dinobatkan sebagai salah satu dari "150 Lagu Indonesia Terbaik Sepanjang Masa" oleh majalah Rolling Stone.

Malioboro Street Yogyakarta (Jalan Malioboro Jogja) is maybe the most famous street in whole Indonesia. Especially on the weekend it's perfect for just walking around a bit, shopping, watching some people, eating, drinking or just for meeting your friends.
I didn't expect that so many people go to Jl Malioboro. But even though it was crowded, I still could walk there and had a lot of fun.
What you can find the most in Malioboro Street is Batik (traditional Indonesian clothes from Java, especially from Yogyakarta) and Oleh Oleh khas Yogyakarta (traditional Indonesian Snacks). Furthermore there were plenty options of Yogyakarta Street Food.

Yogyakarta (/ËŒjÉ’É¡jəˈkÉ‘Ë?rtÉ™/ or /ËŒjoÊŠÉ¡jəˈkÉ‘Ë?rtÉ™/; also Jogja or Jogjakarta) is a city and the capital of Yogyakarta Special Region in Java, Indonesia. It is renowned as a center of education (Kota Pelajar), classical Javanese fine art and culture such as batik, ballet, drama, music, poetry, and puppet shows. Yogyakarta was the Indonesian capital during the Indonesian National Revolution from 1945 to 1949, with Gedung Agung as the president's office. One of the districts in Yogyakarta, Kotagede, was the capital of the Mataram Sultanate between 1575 and 1640. The city is named after the Indian city of Ayodhya from the Ramayana epic. Yogya means "suitable, fit, proper", and karta, "prosperous, flourishing" (i.e., "a city that is fit to prosper"). Its population was 388,627 inhabitants at the 2010 census and its built-up (or metro) area was home to, 4,010,436 inhabitants spread on 2 cities (Yogyakarta and Magelang) and 65 districts spread on Sleman, Klaten, Bantul, Kulon Progo and Magelang regencies. While urbanization sprawls, Yogyakarta-Magelang and Surakarta are being agglomerated in a few years. The Dutch name of the city is Djokjakarta.
