STORYLINE:
Two separate bomb attacks on Tuesday in central Baghdad left six dead and fifteen wounded, police said.
The attacks came as the US continues with its
Operation Law and Order plan to reduce sectarian violence in Baghdad and its outer lying areas
.
In the Bab al-Sharqi neighbourhood of Baghdad, a roadside bomb exploded outside a restaurant killing four people and wounding 11 others, police said.
Abdul-Razaq Ahmed, an eyewitness at the scene, said that about five people were killed and 12 others wounded in the blast.
The explosion also caused extensive damage to the Abu Ali restaurant. The injured were taken to Ibn al-Nafis hospital for treatment.
Also on Tuesday parked car bomb exploded near a parking lot in the Baghdad neighbourhood of Karradah killing two people and wounding 4 others, police said.
Authorities said the death toll from the blast - that also set fire to two nearby cars, could rise.
The attacks came as joint Iraqi-US forces raided the
Shiite slum of Sadr city - a stronghold of
Mahdi army, militias of the anti-America
Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, as part of the ongoing security crackdown in Baghdad.
Police said at least 10 people were arrested in the raid where extensive damage was done to a house.
It is not clear whether the damage was caused exclusively by the raid.
Meanwhile, gunfire rang through the deserted streets of Azamiyah - a predominantly
Sunni neighbourhood in northern Baghdad.
Plumes of smoke could be seen rising from buildings, apparently from clashes that erupted between insurgents and joint Iraqi-U.S. troops on Monday afternoon. No casualties were reported.
A wave of mortar rounds rained down in the Sunni populated area of A'dil, in western Baghdad wounding 4 people on Monday, police said.
