Note:
Alex and Nate portray the same person. I just needed both their scenes, and hell, since they basically look the same anyway, I'd figured it work. :D)
Fiona, at 15, is brutally raped. At the hospital, doctors and nurses poke and prod her tender, bruised flesh, searching for any signs of massive injury. One cop questions her about the events of the night, throwing her into a depression.
Days later, Fiona's long-time boyfriend (Alex/Nate) comes home to find her rocking back and forth in a chair, crying. The doctors called. She's pregnant. Alex steps closer to find a gun in her lap.
Shocked that she would even consider this drastic of an option, he promises he'll make sure she's never alone. They are married, and shortly afterward, she gives birth to the child of her attacker.
"You did great," Alex smiles proudly as the nurses carry the baby off to be cleaned. But Fiona is silent. She releases a low breath, and then closes her eyes for the final time.
Confused and scared, Alex grips her hand, but the nurses ask him to leave. Fiona's hand slowly slips away from his own.
(15 years later) A cop drinks alone in a bar, burying his troubles, until a young girl approaches him. She wants to know about her mother, a 15 year old rape victim the world has forgotten.
Meanwhile, the girl's father (Nate/Alex) sits at home in the dark, staring at a wedding photo and remembering the last time he was truly happy.
After a confrontation with the ex-cop,
Heather returns home to find that her father has taken his life. As justice for her mother is finally found, her father slips away, leaving Heather in this cruel world alone.

The World:
Broken
Main Character:
Lost One
MC Wants:
Love
Secondary Character:
Scarred
Okay, so for my story, there are actually two main characters and two secondary characters. :] The two main characters are Fiona (the mother) and Heather (her daughter conceived during the rape). Then the two secondary characters are Alex/Nate (the husband and stand-in father) and
Chris (the cop).
First, the main characters: Fiona (and later, Heather) are both lost. They don't know who they are or who they should be. Fiona lost all sense of her identity when she was raped because her whole world turned upside-down in an instant. Then afterwards, Fiona becomes, like pretty much every rape victim ever, "old news," and her story is only remembered by those who loved her in the first place. So Fiona is lost to herself, the world, and through death, she becomes lost to Alex/Nate as well as her newborn daughter.
Likewise, Heather has no identity of her own. She knows Alex/Nate isn't her real father, so she goes to great lengths to find out who is. Needless to say, she isn't exactly thrilled when she learns the truth. She learns that she was the product of rape, possibly unwanted. She never knew her mother, who died in childbirth, and she never knew her real father.
And then her stand-in father (Alex/Nate) commits suicide. Heather has no sense of who she is or where she came from. She's just lost, and she's forced to go on searching for love in a different place since everyone she could have turned to is dead.
As for the secondary characters, both of them are scarred. Alex/Nate is scarred from the tragedy of his loved one's rape and then her death. He never really gets over the loss of Fiona, and after 15 years of pain, he puts an end to his own life. Likewise, Chris can't come to grips with the truth of what he's done, (to avoid spoilers, I won't lay it all out here in black and white ;P), despite the fact that no one, except Heather, ever learns the truth. Filled with guilt, Chris eventually quits his job as a cop and falls into alcoholism, trying to bury his emotional scars (guilt) with booze. After being confronted by Heather, he looses what little grip of sanity he had left, and he drinks himself to death.
And finally, I labeled the world as "broken," because only in this truly demented world that we live in now could four lives be destroyed like this.
