Living with Michael Jackson is a documentary, in which British journalist Martin Bashir interviewed Michael Jackson over a span of 8 months, from May 2002 to January 2003. It was shown first in the UK on 3 February 2003 and in the US three days later on ABC, introduced by Barbara Walters.
Martin Bashir put the proposal to Jackson as a way to show the world the truth about him and make nothing off limits. Jacksons decision to make the documentary was made on the suggestion by his close friend Uri Geller. It later emerged that Geller had turned down another bid for the interview by journalist Louis Theroux. The interview was very unusual, as it had been extremely rare for Jackson to allow such access to his personal life, or to talk so freely about his traumatic childhood. Nevertheless, he did show some reserve when asked to discuss other personal issues, such as the plastic surgery he has had.
Jackson felt betrayed by Bashir and complained that the film gives a distorted picture of his behaviour and conduct as a father. He claims that Bashir, in the final version of his interview, used only that material which supported Bashirs opinion of Jackson, which was not a favorable one.
Jackson filed complaints with the UKs Independent Television Commission and the Broadcasting Standards Commission.
Jacksons lawyers claimed in a British High Court case against Martin Bashir and Granada TV that the documentary was a breach of contract and breach of confidence. The proceedings were put on hold when Jackson was charged with 10 felony counts in late 2003, but the proceedings could continue after since Jacksons acquittal. However this is unlikely following his death.
Ann Kite, a public relations consultant hired by Jacksons advisers to counter negative publicity, called the documentary a PR-disaster.

Guess they won't be in a hurry though, like the dirty, money grabbing vultures were to show the edited version which destroyed Michael's life!

Bashir's scandalous narration casts Michael in a negative light to serve no other purpose than Bashir's hidden agenda. On the other hand, this is as close to Michael Jackson as we can get. The documentary has many candid and revealing moments that show the child-like qualities that characterized Jackson's personality and influenced his behavior.

10/18/13 - MSNBC's Martin Bashir got into a heated back-and-forth with tea party activist Larry Klayman on Friday over Klayman's attacks on President Obama as a foreign-born Muslim whose foreign policies benefit America's enemies at the expense of the United States and Israel. Klayman insisted he was being metaphorical when speaking about Obama, which set Bashir off even further.
Bashir first brought up Klayman's book about political "whores" and asked him between Ted Cruz and Mitch McConnell who the whore is. Klayman said it was McConnell, hands-down.
Things got way more heated when Bashir brought up a clip of Klayman saying Obama should leave town and "put the Qu'ran down," asking him if he really believes Obama is a "foreign-born Muslims who has hoodwinked the entire nation." Klayman argued his statements were "metaphoric," "but they ring true" because Obama has done everything he can to harm the U.S. in the Middle East.
Bashir asked, "Was it the act of a rabble-rouser who tells lies in public just to incite the crowd? And I have to ask you, who's the whore now?"
Klayman took a shot at MSNBC for, once again, using "cropped quotes," and then Bashir asked this burning question.
"How would you defend yourself if accused of being a delusional racist whose hatred for this president is, in fact, a form of psychiatric pathology, an illness?"

Mr. Bashir had been listed as being on vacation while the network faced heated criticism for not taking disciplinary action against him.

Martin Bashir (born 19 January 1963) is a British journalist, currently with NBC News as a contributor for its Dateline program, and an afternoon anchor for MSNBC, hosting Martin Bashir. He was previously an anchor for ABC's Nightline and is known for his interviews with Diana, Princess of Wales and controversy surrounding his interview and conflicting statements in his reports on singer Michael Jackson.
Bashir was born in Wandsworth, South London to parents of Pakistani Christian origin and grew up in Wandsworth. He was educated at the state comprehensive Wandsworth School for Boys and King Alfred's College of Higher Education, Winchester (since 2004 the University of Winchester), studying English and History from 1982–1985, and at King's College London. He is fluent in English, Urdu and Hindi. He identifies as a committed Christian.
He started work as a journalist in 1986. He worked for the BBC until 1999 on programmes including Songs of Praise, Public Eye and Panorama and then he joined ITV, working on special documentary programmes and features for Tonight with Trevor McDonald.

Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) was an American recording artist, entertainer, and businessman. Often referred to as the King of Pop, or by his initials MJ, Jackson is recognized as the most successful entertainer of all time by Guinness World Records. His contribution to music, dance, and fashion, along with a much-publicized personal life, made him a global figure in popular culture for over four decades. Sarah Louise Palin

She was elected to Wasilla City Council in 1992 and became mayor of Wasilla in 1996. It was shown first in the UK on 3 February 2003 and in the US three days later on ABC, introduced by Barbara Walters. Martin Bashir put the proposal to Jackson as a way to show the world the truth about him and make nothing off limits. Jacksons decision to make the documentary was made on the suggestion by his close friend Uri Geller. It later emerged that Geller had turned down another bid for the interview by journalist Louis Theroux. The interview was very unusual, as it had been extremely rare for Jackson to allow such access to his personal life, or to talk so freely about his traumatic childhood. Nevertheless, he did show some reserve when asked to discuss other personal issues, such as the plastic surgery he has had. Jackson felt betrayed by Bashir and complained that the film gives a distorted picture of his behaviour and conduct as a father. He claims that Bashir, in the final version of his interview, used only that material which supported Bashirs opinion of Jackson, which was not a favorable one. Jackson filed complaints with the UKs Independent Television Commission and the Broadcasting Standards Commission. Jacksons lawyers claimed in a British High Court case against Martin Bashir and Granada TV that the documentary was a breach of contract and breach of confidence. The proceedings were put on hold when Jackson was charged with 10 felony counts in late 2003, but the proceedings could continue after since Jacksons acquittal. However this is unlikely following his death. Ann Kite, a public relations consultant hired by Jacksons advisers to counter negative publicity, called the documentary a PR-disaster. -

Former Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK) punched her way back into the news this week by invoking slavery in remarks about American public debt, then doubling down on the remarks in an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper. On Friday afternoon's Martin Bashir program on MSNBC, host Martin Bashir delivered a scathing attack on Palin, while attempting to contextualize the horror of slavery for her by detailing some of the cruelty recorded in the diary of Thomas Thistlewood, a British overseer at a Jamaican sugar plantation. Bashir concluded his commentary by suggesting Palin is deserving of the same treatment. In his "Clear the Air" segment, Bashir lit into Palin straight away, referring to her as America's "resident dunce" and characterizing her remarks as "scraping the barrel of her long-deceased mind, and using her all-time favorite analogy in an attempt to sound intelligent about the national debt." He then played a clip of Palin's comments from last weekend, in which she told a crowd at Iowa's Faith and Freedom Coalition event, "Our free stuff today is being paid for by taking money from our children, and borrowing from China. When that note comes due — and this isn't racist, so try it. Try it anyway. This isn't racist. But it's going to be like slavery when that note is due." "It will be like slavery," Bashir repeated. "Given her well-established reputation as a world class idiot, it's hardly surprising that she should choose to mention slavery in a way that is abominable to anyone who knows anything about its barbaric history." "So here's an example," Bashir continued. "One of the most comprehensive first-person accounts of slavery comes from the personal diary of a man called Thomas Thistlewood, who kept copious notes for 39 years. Thistlewood was the son of a tenant farmer, who arrived on the island of Jamaica in April 1750, and assumed the position of overseer at a major plantation." "What is most shocking about Thistlewood's diary is not simply the fact that he assumes the right to own and possess other human beings, but is the sheer cruelty and brutality of his regime," Bashir added. "In 1756, he records that a slave named Darby 'catched eating kanes had him well flogged and pickled, then made Hector, another slave, s-h-i-t in his mouth.'" "This became known as 'Darby's Dose,' a punishment invented by Thistlewood that spoke only of inhumanity. And he mentions a similar incident in 1756, his time in relation to a man he refers to as Punch. 'Flogged punch well, and then washed and rubbed salt pickle, lime juice and bird pepper, made Negro Joe piss in his eyes and mouth,'" Bashir recited. "I could go on, but you get the point," Bashir said, concluding "When Mrs. Palin invokes slavery, she doesn't just prove her rank ignorance. She confirms if anyone truly qualified for a dose of discipline from Thomas Thistlewood, she would be the outstanding candidate."

Living with Michael Jackson is a documentary, in which British journalist Martin Bashir interviewed Michael Jackson over a span of 8 months, from May 2002 to January 2003. It was shown first in the UK on 3 February 2003 and in the US three days later on ABC, introduced by Barbara Walters.
Martin Bashir put the proposal to Jackson as a way to show the world the truth about him and make nothing off limits. Jacksons decision to make the documentary was made on the suggestion by his close friend Uri Geller. It later emerged that Geller had turned down another bid for the interview by journalist Louis Theroux. The interview was very unusual, as it had been extremely rare for Jackson to allow such access to his personal life, or to talk so freely about his traumatic childhood. Nevertheless, he did show some reserve when asked to discuss other personal issues, such as the plastic surgery he has had.
Jackson felt betrayed by Bashir and complained that the film gives a distorted picture of his behaviour and conduct as a father. He claims that Bashir, in the final version of his interview, used only that material which supported Bashirs opinion of Jackson, which was not a favorable one.
Jackson filed complaints with the UKs Independent Television Commission and the Broadcasting Standards Commission.
Jacksons lawyers claimed in a British High Court case against Martin Bashir and Granada TV that the documentary was a breach of contract and breach of confidence. The proceedings were put on hold when Jackson was charged with 10 felony counts in late 2003, but the proceedings could continue after since Jacksons acquittal. However this is unlikely following his death.
Ann Kite, a public relations consultant hired by Jacksons advisers to counter negative publicity, called the documentary a PR-disaster.

"Following a firestorm over his recent comments about Sarah Palin, the MSNBC host Martin Bashir resigned on Wednesday, citing what he called his "ill-judged comments."
Mr. Bashir had been listed as being on vacation while the network faced heated criticism for not taking disciplinary action against him.
The decision was prompted by a commentary Mr. Bashir directed last month against Ms. Palin, the former Republican vice-presidential nominee, in which he criticized her for statements comparing American debt to slavery, saying she deserved the same kind of humiliating and degrading treatment that some slaves faced."* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

Living with Michael Jackson
Living with Michael Jackson is a documentary, in which British journalist Martin Bashir interviewed Michael Jackson over a span of 8 months, from May 2002 to January 2003. It was shown first in the UK on 3 February 2003 and in the US three days later on ABC, introduced by Barbara Walters. Martin Bashir put the proposal to Jackson as a way to show the world the truth about him and make nothing off limits.
Jacksons decision to make the documentary was made on the suggestion by his close friend Uri Geller. It later emerged that Geller had turned down another bid for the interview by journalist Louis Theroux. The interview was very unusual, as it had been extremely rare for Jackson to allow such access to his personal life, or to talk so freely about his traumatic childhood.
Nevertheless, he did show some reserve when asked to discuss other personal issues, such as the plastic surgery he has had. Jackson felt betrayed by Bashir and complained that the film gives a distorted picture of his behaviour and conduct as a father. He claims that Bashir, in the final version of his interview, used only that material which supported Bashirs opinion of Jackson, which was not a favorable one. Jackson filed complaints with the UKs Independent Television Commission and the Broadcasting Standards Commission.
Jacksons lawyers claimed in a British High Court case against Martin Bashir and Granada TV that the documentary was a breach of contract and breach of confidence. The proceedings were put on hold when Jackson was charged with 10 felony counts in late 2003, but the proceedings could continue after since Jacksons acquittal. However this is unlikely following his death. Ann Kite, a public relations consultant hired by Jacksons advisers to counter negative publicity, called the documentary a PR-disaster.

Former Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK) punched her way back into the news this week by invoking slavery in remarks about American public debt, then doubling down on the remarks in an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper. On Friday afternoon's Martin Bashir program on MSNBC, host Martin Bashir delivered a scathing attack on Palin, while attempting to contextualize the horror of slavery for her by detailing some of the cruelty recorded in the diary of Thomas Thistlewood, a British overseer at a Jamaican sugar plantation. Bashir concluded his commentary by suggesting Palin is deserving of the same treatment.
In his "Clear the Air" segment, Bashir lit into Palin straight away, referring to her as America's "resident dunce" and characterizing her remarks as "scraping the barrel of her long-deceased mind, and using her all-time favorite analogy in an attempt to sound intelligent about the national debt."
He then played a clip of Palin's comments from last weekend, in which she told a crowd at Iowa's Faith and Freedom Coalition event, "Our free stuff today is being paid for by taking money from our children, and borrowing from China. When that note comes due — and this isn't racist, so try it. Try it anyway. This isn't racist. But it's going to be like slavery when that note is due."
"It will be like slavery," Bashir repeated. "Given her well-established reputation as a world class idiot, it's hardly surprising that she should choose to mention slavery in a way that is abominable to anyone who knows anything about its barbaric history."
"So here's an example," Bashir continued. "One of the most comprehensive first-person accounts of slavery comes from the personal diary of a man called Thomas Thistlewood, who kept copious notes for 39 years. Thistlewood was the son of a tenant farmer, who arrived on the island of Jamaica in April 1750, and assumed the position of overseer at a major plantation."
"What is most shocking about Thistlewood's diary is not simply the fact that he assumes the right to own and possess other human beings, but is the sheer cruelty and brutality of his regime," Bashir added. "In 1756, he records that a slave named Darby 'catched eating kanes had him well flogged and pickled, then made Hector, another slave, s-h-i-t in his mouth.'"
"This became known as 'Darby's Dose,' a punishment invented by Thistlewood that spoke only of inhumanity. And he mentions a similar incident in 1756, his time in relation to a man he refers to as Punch. 'Flogged punch well, and then washed and rubbed salt pickle, lime juice and bird pepper, made Negro Joe piss in his eyes and mouth,'" Bashir recited.
"I could go on, but you get the point," Bashir said, concluding "When Mrs. Palin invokes slavery, she doesn't just prove her rank ignorance. She confirms if anyone truly qualified for a dose of discipline from Thomas Thistlewood, she would be the outstanding candidate."

En 2003 se estrenó, primero en Inglaterra y después en EEUU, el documental realizado por Martin Bashir, "Living with Michael Jackson".
Bashir editó el documental, cortando las contestaciones del Sr. Jackson, de modo que pareciera que decía una cosa diferente a la que realmente dijo. Además, añadió su voz en off, haciendo todo tipo de insinuaciones sobre el astro del pop.
Las insinuaciones de Bashir llegaron tan lejos, que este documental y él mismo, fueron uno de los motivos que en 2005, ayudaron a Thomas Sneddon -Fiscal de Distrito- a sentar al Sr. Jackson en el banquillo de los acusados.
Bashir y su documental fueron los primeros testigos de un largo y vergonzoso juicio contra Jackson. El pseudoperiodista británico se negó a contestar a ninguna pregunta. Sin embargo, el abogado principal de la defensa, el Sr. Mesereau, no tiró la toalla.
Llevó a cabo su contra-interrogatorio, a pesar de que el británico rechaza contestar todas y cada una de sus preguntas, acogiéndose a las leyes norteamericanas que dan amplias vías de escape a los periodistas.
Incluso se negó a responder las preguntas a las que sí debía contestar, haciendo que el Juez Melville, a petición del Sr. Mesereau, tuviera que estudiar a posteriori, si podía acusarlo de desacato.
Thomas "Huracán" Mesereau siguió interrogándolo, sin tirar la toalla para, gracias a sus preguntas, lanzarle un claro mensaje a los miembros del jurado:
1) Bashir nunca estudió la carrera de periodismo.
2) Bashir había sido acusado formalmente -incluyendo al Sr. Jackson-, de malas prácticas periodísticas. Todas las personas que lo acusaron coincidieron en decir que él había editado sus respuestas, haciendo parecer que habían dicho otra cosa diferente a la que realmente dijeron.
3) Al parecer, Bashir había sido acusado por FALSIFICAR la firma de otras personas. En 2003 se estrenó, primero en Inglaterra y después en EEUU, el documental realizado por Martin Bashir, "Living with Michael Jackson".
Bashir editó el documental, cortando las contestaciones del Sr. Jackson, de modo que pareciera que decía una cosa diferente a la que realmente dijo. Además, añadió su voz en off, haciendo todo tipo de insinuaciones sobre el astro del pop.
Las insinuaciones de Bashir llegaron tan lejos, que este documental y él mismo, fueron uno de los motivos que en 2005, ayudaron a Thomas Sneddon -Fiscal de Distrito- a sentar al Sr. Jackson en el banquillo de los acusados.
Bashir y su documental fueron los primeros testigos de un largo y vergonzoso juicio contra Jackson. El pseudoperiodista británico se negó a contestar a ninguna pregunta. Sin embargo, el abogado principal de la defensa, el Sr. Mesereau, no tiró la toalla.
Llevó a cabo su contra-interrogatorio, a pesar de que el británico rechaza contestar todas y cada una de sus preguntas, acogiéndose a las leyes norteamericanas que dan amplias vías de escape a los periodistas.
Incluso se negó a responder las preguntas a las que sí debía contestar, haciendo que el Juez Melville, a petición del Sr. Mesereau, tuviera que estudiar a posteriori, si podía acusarlo de desacato.
Thomas "Huracán" Mesereau siguió interrogándolo, sin tirar la toalla para, gracias a sus preguntas, lanzarle un claro mensaje a los miembros del jurado:
1) Bashir nunca estudió la carrera de periodismo.
2) Bashir había sido acusado formalmente -incluyendo al Sr. Jackson-, de malas prácticas periodísticas. Todas las personas que lo acusaron coincidieron en decir que él había editado sus respuestas, haciendo parecer que habían dicho otra cosa diferente a la que realmente dijeron.
3) Al parecer, Bashir había sido acusado por FALSIFICAR la firma de otras personas.
