Sony Alpha 850

The α850 (DSLR-A850) was Sony's second full-frame digital SLR, introduced on 27 August 2009. Similar to the DSLR-A900, the camera featured the same 24.6-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor used in the a900. On 8 June 2011, Sony pre-announced the camera's end of production in July/August 2011.

The camera was almost exactly the same as the DSLR-A900, but the viewfinder coverage was dropped to 98% with 0.74× magnification and the burst rate was reduced to 3 frames per second.

Sony Alpha 900

The α900 (DSLR-A900) is a full-frame digital SLR camera, produced by Sony. An early design study of the camera was shown at PMA on 8 March 2007, and a newer prototype announced at PMA 2008 on 31 January 2008. Sony officially introduced the final camera on 9 September 2008 prior to photokina 2008. In October 2011, Sony Japan announced the camera's end of production.

The specifications include: 24.6-megapixel CMOS sensor, 5 frame/s burst mode, dual BIONZ processors, 100% viewfinder, 9-point AF with 10 assist points, inbuilt image sensor shift stabilization and intelligent preview. It does not have video/movie recording.

Intelligent preview mode

This mode, first introduced on the DSLR-A900, allows the photographer to take a sample image at the current settings. When this mode is enabled in the settings (default), then using the depth of field (DOF) preview button makes a preview image of the subject. The display shows the image and its image histogram, but it is not stored on the memory card. At that point, the photographer can accept current settings or simulate how the image (and histogram) would look with changes in aperture, shutter speed, dynamic range optimizer and white balance. If the photographer prefers those new settings he simply continues to work to accept them. Otherwise he can reject them by depressing the garbage can icon. He can also compare the sample to the simulation by depressing the DISP button.

Sony Alpha 230

The Sony α 230 (DSLR-A230) is Sony's entry-level digital single-lens reflex camera (DSLR). The 10.2 megapixel α230 is available in the United States in two kit versions, one with a DT 18-55mm SAM (smooth-autofocus-motor) Sony lens and the other with the same DT 18-55mm SAM lens and a DT 55-200mm SAM Sony lens. The single lens kit is $449.99 (as of Jan. 1, 2010) and the two lens kit is for $649.99 (as of Jan. 1, 2010).

The Sony α230 has a 9-point AF system and takes all Sony α/Minolta AF mount lenses. The 10.2 megapixel APS-C (23.6 mm × 15.8 mm) sized CCD sensor has a max ISO of 3200, however when using ISO 800 the photos start to get noisy and 1600 and 3200 have very bad noise. The Sony α230 has a BIONZ images processor and can take approximately 7.5 frames per second. The Sony α230 includes Creative Style, or preset color settings; BRAVIA Sync with a built in HDMI plug, and anti-dust technology. The Sony α230's anti-dust system is a charge protection coating on a low pass filter and image-sensor shift mechanism. The α230 also features Sony's SteadyShot INSIDE in-body stabilization.

Sony Alpha 300

The Sony Alpha 300 (a300) is a camera that was released in 2008 soon after the a200 and a350. The camera is a hybrid the a200 and a350, combining the sensor of a200 with the features and construction of the a350.
