A ballet dancer dubbed the next Billy Elliot has died suddenly aged just 14, with friend saying he 'did not deserve the stuff he went through'.
Jack Burns, an accomplished dancer who appeared in the TV drama Outlander in 2014, was found dead at home in Greenock, Inverclyde, on December 1.
He won a place at ballet school aged nine, appeared in ITV thriller Plain Sight, starred opposite Duncan James of Blue and was also in several BBC productions.
Jack trained at the Elite Academy of Dance in Greenock and the Royal Conservatoire in Glasgow and drew comparisons with Billy Elliot, a role he auditioned for in 2015.
The teenager, who was described as an 'inspiration' by his teachers and took up dancing seven years ago, also played rugby and football.
He attended St Columba's School in Kilmacolm and leaves behind his mother Karen, 46, father Robert, 47, and brother Rory, who is also said to have been in Outlander.
Jack also worked as a model, fronting campaigns for global brands through his contracts with The Model Team in Glasgow.
Shocked friends took to Facebook to pay tribute to the boy. One wrote: 'Jack was such an amazing boy and he did not deserve the stuff he went through. He never ever wanted to hurt anyone, there was not a bad bone in his body.
'I'm absolutely heartbroken that I have lost someone who meant so much to me and many more people.'
Another said: 'Your parents / family / friends must be so unbelievably proud of you and what you've achieved.
'What an amazing person and to do what makes you happy and be you, no matter what. Takes such rare courage that a lot of us don't have.'
Father Thomas Boyle, priest of St Mary's Church in Greenock, where his funeral will be held tomorrow, told MailOnline: 'This is a tragedy for the family which is inexplicable.
'Everyone will be at the funeral tomorrow to support Karen, Robert and his brother Rory.
'Everything he participated in so well in his life will be there, from the ballet school, his rugby club and the people he played football with. Everyone's absolutely devastated by what's happened.'
News of his death was shared on the Facebook page of Elite Academy of Dance. A statement read: 'It is with a very heavy heart that we write this post.
'Tragically as you know we lost our much loved student Jack Burns on Sunday, December 1.
Jack was an inspiration to everyone at Elite and touched the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of working and dancing with him since 2012.
We and all of Jack's family and friends are naturally completely devastated and at a loss for words and answers.
'Jack's family wish to let everyone know that his funeral service will be at at 10am at St Mary's Church, Patrick Street, Greenock, on Thursday, December 12.
'Karen, Robert and Rory would love if those from his Elite Family that knew and loved Jack as much as they all do wanted to attend. They would also take much comfort if students wish to attend in Alba or Elite Hoodies and sit together on Thursday.
'Our studio will be open at 9am on Thursday for those wishing to attend. All our thoughts and prayers at this time are with Jack's immediate family and friends but especially with his parents Karen, Robert and his brother Rory.'
The UK Theatre School said in a statement: 'Last week, we emailed all of our current students' parents and guardians with the terribly sad news about the passing of one of our exceptionally talented young students.
Jack's family have said that anyone who would like to attend his funeral is more than welcome.
'They have also mentioned that children and young people from Jack's ballet schools will be wearing their youth group hoodies as a tribute to Jack and the groups that he loved to attend.'
A Police Scotland spokesman said: 'At around 3.30pm on December 1, police were called following the death of a 14-year-old boy within a house in Greenock.
'Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact cause of his death which police are not treating as suspicious.'

Tributes have been paid to a talented school boy who died suddenly. Dancer , Jack Burns passed away at his home in Greenock, Inverclyde. The 14-year-old dancer, model and actor was once described as the 'next Billy Elliot'. Police are not treating his death as supicious. Greenock-based Elite Academy of Dance shared the tragic news on social media. The Facebook post read: "It is with a very heavy heart that we write this post. "Tragically much loved student Jack Burns on Sunday, December 1. "Jack was an inspiration to everyone at Elite and touched the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of working and dancing with him since 2012. "We, and all of Jack's family and friends, are naturally completely devastated and at a loss for words and answers." Jack was a member of the prestigious UK Theatre School who described him as an 'exceptionally talented, young student'. He appeared in in ITV thriller ‘In Plain Sight’ alongside Martin Compston. Duncan James from Blue also shared a stage with Jack, as they both landed roles in Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Jack had other parts on the silver screen including BBC One show ‘One of Us’ plus CBBC show ‘Eve’. Modelling was also a big part of Jack's life as he fronted campaigns for global brands as a youngster through his contracts with The Model Team in Glasgow. The youngster, who attended St Columba's School in Kilmacolm, leaves behind his mum, Karen, dad Robert and brother, Rory. Jack Burns
John Francis "Jack" Burns (born November 15, 1933) is an American comedian and voice actor.
Biography
Burns began his comedy career in 1959, when he partnered with George Carlin; both were working for radio station KXOL in Fort Worth, Texas. After successful performances at a Fort Worth beat coffeehouse, The Cellar, Burns and Carlin headed for California in February 1960 continued to work together for two more years. An album containing some of their material was released in 1963, titled Burns and Carlin at the Playboy Club Tonight.
Longer lasting was a later teaming with Avery Schreiber, whom he met when they were both members of The Second City, a live comedy and improv troupe based in Chicago. Burns and Schreiber were best known for a series of routines in which Burns played a talkative taxicab passenger, with Schreiber as the driver.
During the first half of the 1965-1966 season of The Andy Griffith Show, in an attempt to replace the Don Knotts' Barney Fife character after Knotts left the show, Burns was cast as Warren Ferguson, a dedicated but inept deputy sheriff. His character was not popular, and was dropped after eleven appearances.

John Joseph Burns (1880–1957) was a second baseman in Major League Baseball who played for the Detroit Tigers in 1903 and 1904. He played in the minors through 1911 and had three stints as a manager in the minors, in 1904, 1913 and 1920.

John Irving Burns (August 31, 1907 – April 18, 1975), nicknamed "Slug," was an American first baseman, coach and scout in Major League Baseball. A native of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Burns stood 6 feet (1.8 m) tall and weighed 175 pounds (79 kg) in his playing days, and batted and threw left-handed.
Burns' professional playing career began in 1928 in the New England League. After leading the Class A Western League in home runs with 36 in 1929, his contract was purchased by the St. Louis Browns of the American League. After a brief MLB trial in 1930, Burns became the starting first baseman for the Browns in 1931. He handled those duties until he was traded to the Detroit Tigers on April 30, 1936, for pitcher Chief Hogsett. He returned to the minor leagues at the end of that campaign for the remainder of his playing career. In Burns' finest season for the Browns, 1932, he scored 111 runs, batted .305, hit 11 homers and drove in 70 runs batted in (RBIs). Over his major league career (1930–36), he appeared in 890 games, and batted .280 with 44 homers and 417 RBIs. He led American League first basemen in assists in 1931 and 1932.

Saturday Night Live (abbreviated as SNL) is an American late-night live television sketch comedy and variety show created by Lorne Michaels and developed by Dick Ebersol. The show premiered on NBC on October 11, 1975, under the original title NBC's Saturday Night. The show's comedy sketches, which parody contemporary culture and politics, are performed by a large and varying cast of repertory and newer cast members. Each episode is hosted by a celebrity guest (who usually delivers an opening monologue and performs in sketches with the cast) and features performances by a musical guest. An episode normally begins with a cold open sketch that ends with someone breaking character and proclaiming, "Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!", properly beginning the show.
In 1980, Michaels left the series to explore other opportunities. He was replaced by Jean Doumanian, who was replaced by Ebersol after a season of bad reviews. Ebersol ran the show until 1985, when Michaels returned; Michaels has remained since then. Many of SNL's cast found national stardom while appearing on the show, and achieved success in film and television, both in front of and behind the camera. Others associated with the show, such as writers, have gone on to successful careers creating, writing, or starring in TV and film.

Saturday Night Live (season 18)
The eighteenth season of Saturday Night Live, an American sketch comedy series, originally aired in the United States on NBC between September 26, 1992, and May 15, 1993.
Many changes happened before the start of the season. Long term cast member Victoria Jackson left the show after six seasons. Newer cast members Beth Cahill and Siobhan Fallon were both fired to make room in the cast.
Unlike the past two seasons Lorne Michaels did not hire any new cast members. Rob Schneider was upgraded to repertory status. Ellen Cleghorne, Tim Meadows, Adam Sandler, and David Spade remained in the middle category. Melanie Hutsell was promoted to the middle category. Robert Smigel remained as a featured cast member.
Long-term cast member Dana Carvey decided to leave the show mid season. This would also be the final season for Chris Rock and Robert Smigel.
After three years with the show, Rock decided to quit the show at the end of the season. Rock had become frustrated with never quite finding a voice on the show and wanted to instead focus on his stand-up career. Writer and featured player Smigel left to become the head writer for Late Night with Conan O'Brien, but would later return to the show in 1996 to write and produce the "TV Funhouse" cartoons.

The thirty-second season of Saturday Night Live, an American sketch comedy series, originally aired in the United States on NBC between September 30, 2006, and May 19, 2007.
History
As in the previous season, The Lonely Island created another popular SNL Digital Short that aired around Christmas time; this time, it was the risqué, R&B video spoof "Dick in a Box" (featuring host Justin Timberlake). The short won a Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Music and Lyrics.

Changes and notes
Before the start of the season, the show suffered massive budget cuts. Finesse Mitchell, Chris Parnell and Horatio Sanz were all fired from the show. This was the second time Parnell had been fired from the show due to budget cuts, the first being after the 2000–01 season ended. In addition, Rachel Dratch and Tina Fey left the show on their own terms to begin to work on 30 Rock.
Bill Hader, Andy Samberg, Jason Sudeikis, and Kristen Wiig were all promoted to repertory status. Due to the budget cuts, this was the first time since the 1997–98 season that the show did not have any featured players or hire any new cast members. These changes also resulted in the smallest cast in recent memory, comprising just 11 people.

Shocked friends took to Facebook to pay tribute to the boy. One wrote: 'Jack was such an amazing boy and he did not deserve the stuff he went through. He never ever wanted to hurt anyone, there was not a bad bone in his body.
'I'm absolutely heartbroken that I have lost someone who meant so much to me and many more people.'
Another said: 'Your parents / family / friends must be so unbelievably proud of you and what you've achieved.
'What an amazing person and to do what makes you happy and be you, no matter what. Takes such rare courage that a lot of us don't have.'
Father Thomas Boyle, priest of St Mary's Church in Greenock, where his funeral will be held tomorrow, told MailOnline: 'This is a tragedy for the family which is inexplicable.
'Everyone will be at the funeral tomorrow to support Karen, Robert and his brother Rory.
'Everything he participated in so well in his life will be there, from the ballet school, his rugby club and the people he played football with. Everyone's absolutely devastated by what's happened.'
News of his death was shared on the Facebook page of Elite Academy of Dance. A statement read: 'It is with a very heavy heart that we write this post.
'Tragically as you know we lost our much loved student Jack Burns on Sunday, December 1.
Jack was an inspiration to everyone at Elite and touched the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of working and dancing with him since 2012.
We and all of Jack's family and friends are naturally completely devastated and at a loss for words and answers.
'Jack's family wish to let everyone know that his funeral service will be at at 10am at St Mary's Church, Patrick Street, Greenock, on Thursday, December 12.
'Karen, Robert and Rory would love if those from his Elite Family that knew and loved Jack as much as they all do wanted to attend. They would also take much comfort if students wish to attend in Alba or Elite Hoodies and sit together on Thursday.
'Our studio will be open at 9am on Thursday for those wishing to attend. All our thoughts and prayers at this time are with Jack's immediate family and friends but especially with his parents Karen, Robert and his brother Rory.'
The UK Theatre School said in a statement: 'Last week, we emailed all of our current students' parents and guardians with the terribly sad news about the passing of one of our exceptionally talented young students.
Jack's family have said that anyone who would like to attend his funeral is more than welcome.
'They have also mentioned that children and young people from Jack's ballet schools will be wearing their youth group hoodies as a tribute to Jack and the groups that he loved to attend.'
A Police Scotland spokesman said: 'At around 3.30pm on December 1, police were called following the death of a 14-year-old boy within a house in Greenock.
'Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact cause of his death which police are not treating as suspicious.'

A ballet dancer dubbed the next Billy Elliot has died suddenly aged just 14, with friend saying he 'did not deserve the stuff he went through'.
Jack Burns, an accomplished dancer who appeared in the TV drama Outlander in 2014, was found dead at home in Greenock, Inverclyde, on December 1.
He won a place at ballet school aged nine, appeared in ITV thriller Plain Sight, starred opposite Duncan James of Blue and was also in several BBC productions.
Jack trained at the Elite Academy of Dance in Greenock and the Royal Conservatoire in Glasgow and drew comparisons with Billy Elliot, a role he auditioned for in 2015.
The teenager, who was described as an 'inspiration' by his teachers and took up dancing seven years ago, also played rugby and football.
He attended St Columba's School in Kilmacolm and leaves behind his mother Karen, 46, father Robert, 47, and brother Rory, who is also said to have been in Outlander.
Jack also worked as a model, fronting campaigns for global brands through his contracts with The Model Team in Glasgow.

The youngster, who attended St Columba's School in Kilmacolm, leaves behind his mum, Karen, dad Robert and brother, Rory. Grieving loved ones also took to social media to the 'beautiful boy' who 'never wanted to hurt anyone'. On Facebook Ali Boag wrote: "R.I.P angel, fly high my boy. "Forever and always thinking of you. "Jack was such an amazing boy and he did not deserve the stuff he went through. "He never ever wanted to hurt anyone, there was not a bad bone in his body. "All he did was make everyone smile. "I'm absolutely heart broken that I have lost someone who meant so much to me and many more people. "Rest easy my boy love you." Clare Arhimandritis added: "A tragic loss of a beautiful and talented boy. "Rest in peace." Jaqui McIntyre commented: "What a handsome talented boy. "Dance on beautiful boy." Jack's funeral service will take place at at 10.00am at St Mary's Church, Patrick Street, Greenock, on Thursday December 12. Cops confirmed that the death wasn't being treated as suspicious. A police spokesperson said: "At around 3.30 pm on Sunday, December 1, police were called following the death of a 14-year-old boy within a house in Greenock. "Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact cause of his death which police are not treating as suspicious. "A report has been submitted to the PF". A Crown Office spokesman added: "I can confirm that we have received a report in relation to the death of a child in Greenock on 1 December 2019." Jack Burns
John Francis "Jack" Burns (born November 15, 1933) is an American comedian and voice actor.
Biography
Burns began his comedy career in 1959, when he partnered with George Carlin; both were working for radio station KXOL in Fort Worth, Texas. After successful performances at a Fort Worth beat coffeehouse, The Cellar, Burns and Carlin headed for California in February 1960 continued to work together for two more years. An album containing some of their material was released in 1963, titled Burns and Carlin at the Playboy Club Tonight.
Longer lasting was a later teaming with Avery Schreiber, whom he met when they were both members of The Second City, a live comedy and improv troupe based in Chicago. Burns and Schreiber were best known for a series of routines in which Burns played a talkative taxicab passenger, with Schreiber as the driver.
During the first half of the 1965-1966 season of The Andy Griffith Show, in an attempt to replace the Don Knotts' Barney Fife character after Knotts left the show, Burns was cast as Warren Ferguson, a dedicated but inept deputy sheriff. His character was not popular, and was dropped after eleven appearances.
