Het zit allemaal in de muzikale theatervoorstelling Chez Brood. Bart Chabot schreef de tekst, Stefan Rokebrand speelt de grootste rockheld die Nederland ooit kende. Chez Brood gaat begin 2016, het jaar waarin Herman Brood 70 jaar zou zijn geworden, in première. Vandaag was de perspresentatie, vanavond schuiven regisseur Victor Löw, Rokebrand en Hermans dochter Lola aan. Rokebrand geeft samen met muzikaal leider Jan Rot vast een voorproefje. En er zijn unieke beelden uit de aanstaande Brood-film van documentairemaker Dennis Alink.

Hermanus "Herman" Brood (pronounced "Hairmon Broat" /bro:t/; November 5, 1946 – July 11, 2001) was a Dutch musician, painter, actor, poet and media personality. Initially a musician who achieved artistic and commercial success in the 1970s and 1980s, and called "the Netherlands' greatest and only rock 'n' roll star," later in life he became a well-known painter.
Known for his hedonistic lifestyle of "sex, drugs and rock 'n roll," Brood was an enfant terrible and a cultural figure whose suicide, apparently caused by a failure to kick his drug and alcohol habit, only strengthened his controversial status. His suicide, according to a poll organized to celebrate fifty years of Dutch popular music, was the most significant event in its history.
Herman Brood was born in Zwolle, and started playing the piano at age 12. He founded beat band The Moans in 1964, which would later become Long Tall Ernie and the Shakers. Brood was asked to play with Cuby and the Blizzards, but was removed by management when the record company discovered he used drugs. For a number of years Brood was in jail (for dealing LSD), or abroad, and had a number of short-term engagements (with The Studs, the Flash & Dance Band, Vitesse).

Der niederländische Musiker und Maler Herman Brood (1946-2001) wird zu Recht als "Hollands größter (und einziger) Rock'n'Roll-Star" bezeichnet. Leider blieb ihm der ganz große Erfolg versagt, aber wer ihn jemals live auf der Bühne erlebt hat, wird ihn nie vergessen. Hier "versaut" er einem mir namentlich unbekannten ach-so-flotten Jung-Moderator der Show "Live aus dem Schlachthof" (später "Live aus dem Alabama", Bayerischer & Hessicher Rundfunk in Co-Produktion) das Interview durch ungemein wirre (wohl aber auch absichtlich lustige) Antworten. R.I.P. Dutch musician and painter Herman Brood (1946-2001) was justifiably called "the Netherlands' greatest (and only) rock 'n' roll star". Story
Rock 'n 'Roll Junkie is a 1994 documentary film about the life of the well-known Dutch artist Herman Brood, who committed suicide in 2001. Four filmmakers followed their youth idol for over two years. This film gives a detailed image of Broods life as an artist by combining images of his daily life with interviews with his band members, his girlfriends and his mother.

Leider blieb ihm der ganz große Erfolg versagt, aber wer ihn jemals live auf der Bühne erlebt hat, wird ihn nie vergessen. Hier "versaut" er einem mir namentlich unbekannten ach-so-flotten Jung-Moderator der Show "Live aus dem Schlachthof" (später "Live aus dem Alabama", Bayerischer & Hessicher Rundfunk in Co-Produktion) das Interview durch ungemein wirre (wohl aber auch absichtlich lustige) Antworten.
