Sacramento police say the shooting at a North Natomas shortly after 10 a.m. Monday involved two men believed to be acquainted with one another and may have been drug-related.
Police spokesman Officer Matthew McPhail said the shooting in occurred at 10:08 a.m. in the 2800 block of Tourbrook Way, west of Interstate 5 and south of San Juan Road. A man entered the victim’s home by unknown means and the two became involved in an altercation in which the victim was shot.
The intruder fled and the victim went to a neighbor’s house to summon help. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of what police said were non-life-threatening injuries.
McPhail said it is believed there was some sort of relationship between the two men, which may have involved drugs.
McPhail said officers searched the neighborhood with the assistance of police dogs. The Merryhill preschool on Karitsa Avenue was placed on lockdown as a precaution during the search and was lifted about 11:30 a.m.
As of early afternoon, police had not located the man sought in the shooting and had not released a description of him. McPhail said investigators were still on scene and likely to be there for several hours.
