MOVIE MAGAZINE #1 Peter Noble (?) sits behind a desk with a pen in his hand. He says: "Everyone it seems, likes a Western." He then reviews "Comanche". He has quite strong ideas about who is right and wrong in this tale of the Wild West saying that the American Indian tribe "did nothing but bring fear and pillage to the Americans trying to settle in..." Dana Andrews plays an American scout who helps the American Army to "put down" the American tribes. Noble summarises the plot - making it sound like a rather traditional Western - mentioning the female star Linda (or Lynda) Crystal (or Krystal?) - not mentioned in "Halliwell's" cast list, to be checked (could be Linda Christian? - SL). Noble says it is "jolly good fast moving stuff." He looks left screen as if awaiting a clip of the film - no clip exists in this negative. He then reviews "The Killer is Loose." He mentions the fact that in his opinion the Americans always do crime movies much better than the British. Joseph Cotton plays a detective who sends Wendell Corey to prison. Rhonda Fleming plays the wife of Joseph Cotton. Noble introduces a clip but clip is absent from our negative. "Good, good documentary police chase stuff" he says. "Great Day in the Morning" is reviewed. Robert Stack stars with Ruth Roman. Peter is a little condescending when he says: "It's a little involved if you don't know about the American Civil War - you know the North versus the South." No clip. "While the City Sleeps" is reviewed. Noble tells us that Fritz Lang is one of his favourite directors. He describes the plot, a lipstic murder, "it's rather horrific but not so horrific as all that." Dana Andrews, George Sanders and Howard Duff feature - but there is no clip. He then tells how many have "written off" James ("Jimmy") Cagney but Peter is still a fan. He states that Cagney has made a most magnificent comeback. He mentions "Love Me or Leave Me" and "The Seven Little Foys" (sic). He then goes on to review "Tribute to a Bad Man." Seems as though Peter has to check his notes for the name of Cagney's co-star, Irene Papas. He compares Irene to Ava Gardner and predicts that she will be a big star. Noble raves about Cagney in the film: "It's worth seeing for him alone... he really has what it takes." He pauses for a clip - no clip in our negative. End.
