Moving company

A moving company, removalist or van line is a company that helps people and businesses move their goods from one place to another. It offers all inclusive services for relocations like packing, loading, moving, unloading, unpacking, arranging of items to be shifted. Additional services may include cleaning of the place and warehousing facilities.

Overview

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 40 million Americans have moved annually over the last decade. Of those people who have moved in the United States, 84.5% of them have moved within their own state, 12.5% have moved to another state and 2.3% have moved to another country.

In the US and Canada, the cost for long-distance moves is typically determined by the weight of the items to be moved, the distance, how quickly the items are to be moved, and the time of the year or month which the move occurs. In the UK and Australia the price is based on the volume of the items rather than their weight. Some movers may offer flat rate pricing.

Moving (1993 film)

Moving (Japanese: お引越し, translit. Ohikkoshi) is a 1993 Japanese drama film directed by Shinji Sōmai. It was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1993 Cannes Film Festival.

Moving (Supergrass song)

"Moving" is a song by Supergrass, from their eponymous third album, Supergrass (1999). It was also released as a single, reaching #9 in the UK Singles Chart. It is about the tedium of touring as a band. It was the last Supergrass song to reach the UK Top 10.

The song later appeared on the greatest hits compilation Supergrass Is 10: The Best Of 1994–2004.

The song has featured in the British film comedy East Is East at the beginning of the closing credits, and in the Holby City episode "Tough Love" in 2009. It was also sampled by MC Lars for his song "Ahab" about Moby-Dick.

Music video

The video, like the song, is intended to show the tedium of touring. The passing of time is shown by the change of outfits the band are wearing, their slight changes in appearance, the selection of different hotel rooms they are seen in and the assortment of hotel room keys displayed. Footage is sped up and slowed down, and scenes are rewound and repeated to add to the film's effect.

Relocation (personal)

Relocation, also known as moving, is the process of vacating a fixed location (such as a residence or business) and settling in a different one. A move can be to a nearby location within the same neighborhood, a much farther location in a different city, or sometimes a different country. It usually includes packing up all belongings, transferring to the new home, and unpacking, as well as administrative or bureaucratic tasks, such as changing registration data, change of insurance, services etc.

Psychological effect

On the Holmes and Rahe stress scale for adults, "change of residence" is considered a stressful activity, assigned 20 points (with death of spouse being ranked the highest at 100), although other changes on the scale (e.g. "change in living conditions", "change in social activities") often occur as a result of relocating, making the overall stress level potentially higher.

Various studies have found that moving house is often particularly stressful for children and is sometimes associated with long-term problems. Moving can differ in its effects for toddlers, preschool-age kids, or school-age kids. Communicating with children to help them process the move is crucial to making the move as seamless as possible.

Spirit (This Condition album)

Spirit is This Condition's third EP, a five-track album recorded in April 2010. It was released on July 27, 2010 through online retailers and digital music stores (iTunes), as well as a physical release through the band's online merch store. Recorded in Boonton, NJ's The Pilot Studio with producer Rob Freeman, whom the band had worked with on three singles in 2009, the album features five new tracks, including "Go" and "Stay Right Here".

Spirit (Hitomi album)

Spirit is the tenth studio album of Japanese singer-songwriter Hitomi. The album was formally released on April 27, 2011 under the independent label Maximum 10.

Spirit features production from Advanced Alternative Media, making this the first time that they work with a Japanese artist. Other western artists, like Rivers Cuomo from Weezer, Chuck Comeau and Pierre Bouvier from Simple Plan, and Gabe Saporta from Cobra Starship collaborated in the album as well.

Information

The album was released approximately two years after her previous work, Love Life 2, and it is her first album after her departure from the Avex major label. It was produced by musicians of Advanced Alternative Media Inc., making this the first album in which Hitomi works exclusively with Western songwriters, composers, and producers.

No singles were released for promoting the album, although two songs were made available to the public prior to its release. The song "Love Me, Love Body" was used as the official theme song to Coca-Cola Japan's healthy drink for women "Love Body", and was digitally released on July 28, 2010. "Song For You" was the other song previously released. It was included in Hitomi's single "Umarete Kurete Arigatō", which was her last single released under the Avex label. The last songs that Hitomi published under the Avex major label, "Umarete Kurete Arigatō" and "Smile World" -the two A-side songs of her last major single-, along with the thems songs of the NHK anime TV series Hanakappa, "Special" and "Guru Maze Yeah", were not included in the album.

Sociaal-Liberale Partij

Sociaal-Liberale Partij ( listen; SLP; Dutch for Social Liberal Party) was a Belgian Flemish political party formed after dissolution of the moderate nationalist People's Union (Volksunie) party. Prior to 19 April 2008 it was known as Spirit, and intermediately as Flemish Progressives (VlaamsProgressieven). The party fused with Green! in the end of 2009 thus ceasing to exist.

History

The People's Union separated into two parties, the social liberal Spirit and the centre-right New-Flemish Alliance (N-VA), which formed a cartel with the Christian Democratic and Flemish (CD&V) party. The formation of the cartels was seen as a way in which Spirit and N-VA could guarantee their influence and position in Flemish and Belgian politics. The forming of the cartel led the liberal wing of the party to join the Flemish Liberals and Democrats (VLD).
