Now that I am twenty-two years old I have a distinct opinion was way over hyped, and highly over rated for kids in high school.  I remember when teachers began to tell me that you need to start saving your money prior your senior year of high school starts.

The need to save up for a car or to put a down payment for buying your own home was highlighted on several occasions.  Maybe I’m just being a bit bitter because I didn’t have a date to the prom, but regardless of all of that I still had a very good time with myself, my friends, and the events that ensued.

Prom is a very traditional event for high school that probably goes back decades, and lord knows how much it has probably changed since that time.  Now they also plan an after prom party to keep the kids safe from the ordinary events that occur at the drunk parties, and other illegal activities after the children leave their first prom and likely only prom.

Today it becomes almost an essential thing to have money prepared to get you and your date expensive prom tickets.  In addition to the cost of the ticket, you have to have a professional photo shoot done in front of a cheesy backdrop.  As if that weren’t enough, you also have to rent a tailored tuxedo made for well before and rent a fancy limo just to get there. 

Not sure if that is everything, needless to say, there is much planning that goes into prom.  To be honest, I feel lucky I didn’t have a date because I certainly wouldn’t have been able to afford it at the age of seventeen.

The actual dance itself was great even if I didn’t have a date.  As it turned out my high school crush was left dateless at the dance, so I put a rose in between my teeth and ended up having my prom date after all.  That will be a night I will not forget anytime soon.   

After the famed dance, the school had hosted the after party with prizes like laptops that would prepare you for college, some poker tables, more dancing, a massage area, and a small arcade with games that were surprisingly fun.  I had to get dressed in the back of my dad’s car on the way there in my prom t-shirt and jeans, but once I got dropped off there, I found my friends immediately. 

I remember the after party more than the actual dance itself because it had a photo booth rental too.  The photo booths gave us an opportunity for making the craziest memories while still hyper at what was probably 2am in the morning.

Through the challenges at the poker table, I won enough tickets that won me the raffle drawing for a full fledge laptop computer that turned out to be my first very own computer that I didn’t have to share with anyone which now I think of it helped to pave the way for my future. 

So all in all even though I think school programs, and teachers ultimately set the expectation too high for students on prom night I had a very memorable night that’ll last for a good long time.

You don’t have to be a musician you simply just have to be a human being to realize that music does fantastic things to our planet, culture, and every single person residing on it.

Music isn’t something that I believe could have ever been invented it’s too much a means of communication that is universal across all cultures, and languages.  It comes very naturally to a person shortly after birth before they can even speak. 

The beautiful part of it is that there are so many different genres of music because everyone is different all of the music is written almost as different as our DNA is distinct from each other.  You share music with friends, and it is something you can get together by itself gathered around in a bunch of fold out chairs in a garage, and chill out for hours too with some drinks, and good food.

An excellent friend of mine had a birthday about a year and a half ago that made me realize that simple trips to places like a pier to be highly underrated, and should be more appreciated.  She was turning twenty years old soon.  So, on a lovely spring morning we gathered up all of our friends, and took a pleasant cruise down to the coast.

At that time, there were tourist attractions everywhere filled with little shops, fine dining restaurants, and a pier with the most beautiful view of the ocean and all of the boats sailing.  Funny thing about getting out, and about was that one of the first things we did while we were there was going to a relatively large arcade that had set up in one of their buildings. 

We drove so many miles, and one of the first things we decided to do was play video games that we could’ve done mostly together back at home.  It was much fun playing stuff like “Dance Dance Revolution” though with your friends so I don’t think any of us regret it.

After that, we reached the real attractions like roller coasters and every other motorized fun filled attraction we could find.  The fun continued until we got to the point where of almost throwing up.  Afterward, we settled down for an incredible meal together followed by having a blast once more on the roller coasters.

Once we shook off all of the feelings that consisted mostly of the world spinning, we went site seeing and began visiting the little shops.  My friend and I probably spent more money than we should have on the whole ordeal. 

However, we were a bunch of young adults with big aspirations but with jobs that didn’t pay enough to sustain a lifestyle of fun for very long.  Out of the whole day, the best-spent money was probably on the photo booth they had there from GreensboroPhotoBoothRental.com  

We shoved probably six or seven of us into a standard sized photo booth and began printing photos.  That experience is what sealed the whole memory for us.  Being able to capture that fund day is what makes the trip worth the time. 

Today there is a relatively new entertainment sensation mostly for children that is watching people play video games.  They typically call it a “Let’s Play.”  I enjoy it myself, and it may seem strange, but it’s not going anywhere anytime soon, and it seems like there’s a lot more to it than it sounds.  If you think way back to when you were a child, you might have spent much time watching TV.  Whether it was sitting on a couch playing video games with a sibling, or maybe a friend, and you would have the right time laughing as well as chatting about a bunch of different things.  This isn’t quite so different from what that is some major companies are already taking video games more seriously by hosting what they call “e-sports” for video game competitions.

One famous “Let’s Player” who’s living is solely based on the videos people watch him play video games on stated that it’s not so different from people watching sports on television.  I’m not entirely sure about that, but the reason I enjoy it and get a good laugh out of them is for the brilliant improv comedy that is involved with professional Let’s Plays.  A may sound weird for me to call them professional, but I’ve personally watched an individual support himself by broadcasting live video of him playing video games while interacting with his chat generating over a hundred dollars an hour in small tips alone by his live online viewers.

As almost a daily reader I pride myself in the fact that I unplugged my cable box from my wall, and threw it in the garbage about a year ago.  Not only do I feel more intelligent for the decision, but it led me to what I never thought I would be doing which is picking up an Amazon Kindle and regularly reading whenever I’m not busy working.  I suppose when you back yourself into a corner by taking away what is, for some, their primary source of entertainment the result can be fascinating.  Especially for a guy who is twenty-two years old and previously hadn’t read a book since he was required too in school when he was about twelve years old.

Don’t get me wrong I haven’t forsaken video entertainment entirely I just prefer to choose what now just seems to be a less propaganda and product drilling sides of video entertainment like movies or Youtube video series.  I have found that a book will get you so much more immersed in an incredible story that someone spent years writing.  They are much more inspiring and down-to-earth in the sense that they are censored so little, and have nearly no limitations to how long they can be. 

One of my favorite books I read, The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, got me so far visualized and immersed that it inspired me.  I have always been as an introvert who had never seen the state he was born, and I was inspired to go on an adventure for self-discovery in Los Angeles, California, which was a HUGE life changing event for me, and helped me become the person I am today.  I went traveling not only for the first time but by myself which was the scariest thing I could think of doing for a person my age which was exactly why I did it!
