Kotor, first mentioned in 168 BC, was settled during Ancient Roman times, when it was known as Acruvium. Kotor has been fortified since the early Middle Ages, when Emperor Justinian built a fortress above Acruvium in 535, after expelling the Ostrogoths. Today's Old City of Kotor is a well preserved medieval town, built between the 12th and 14th century. Medieval architecture and numerous monuments of cultural heritage have made Kotor an UNESCO listed "World Natural and Historical Heritage Site". Through the entire city the buildings are criss-crossed with narrow streets and squares.
Cathedral of Saint Tryphon (Sveti Tripun) is a monument of Roman culture and one of the most recognizable symbols of the city. The Church of Saint Luke (Sveti Luka) from the 13th century, Church of Saint Ana (Sveta Ana) from the 12th century, Church of Saint Mary (Sveta Marija) from the 13th century, Church of the Healing Mother of God (Gospe od Zdravlja) from the 15th century, the Prince's Palace from the 17th century and the Napoleon's Theatre from the 19th century are all treasures that are part of the rich heritage of Kotor.

Our last stop in our cruise MSC Musica was in this little unknown place called Kotor, in Montenegro. We honestly had no idea what we were expecting, and it was an amazing surprise! This place is magical, it gives you that movie feeling too like Santorini. Sadly, we had very little time to be there, less than a couple of hours since we got out of the cruise quite late. But I got to film what I could, and this was the final result.
Nuestra última parada en el crucero MSC Musica fue en un pequeño y desconocido lugar llamado Kotor, en Montenegro. Honestamente no teníamos ni idea de que esperar, y nos llevamos una agradable sorpresa! Este lugar es mágico, uno se siente también como en una película como con Santorini. Lastimosamente, no tuvimos mucho tiempo ahí, pero pude grabar lo que pude y este es el resultado final.

Beside beautiful old town with narrow streets the beaches and bays along the Adriatic are worth a visit.
Budva and Kotor are located along the Mediterranean coast of Montenegro and easily accessible from Dubrovnik in Croatia or the capital Podgorica.
Most of the best things to do in Montenegro can be found along the coastline - in summer this place is the hot spots for locals and tourists alike.

Perast (Montenegrin and Serbian Cyrillic: Пераст, pronounced [pɛ̌rast], Italian: Perasto) is an old town on the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro. It is situated a few kilometres northwest of Kotor and is noted for its proximity to the islets of St. George and Our Lady of the Rocks.
Geography
Perast lies beneath the hill of St. Ilija (873 m), on a cape that separates the Bay of Risano from that of Kotor, and overlooks the Verige strait, the narrowest part of the Bay of Kotor. The average yearly temperature in Perast is 18.3°C, and the number of sunny days is 240 (or around 2,500 sunny hours per year).
Near Perast there are two islets: one is called Sveti Đorđe (St. George) and the other Gospa od Škrpjela (Our Lady of the Rocks), and each has a picturesque chapel. Gospa od Škrpjela is particularly interesting given that it is the only artificially-built island in the Adriatic, with an area of 3,030 m² — it was built upon a rock (Škrpjel) after two Venetian sailors from Perast found a picture of the Virgin Mary on it in 1452.

The only "fjord" in the Mediterranean, is situated in the coast of Montenegro, and hosts the ancient town of Kotor, also known as Cattaro in the Venetian Republic times. We visit the islands in the centre of the Bay and follow the scenic old road, Stari Put, to find the best vantage points that show a wonderful landscape. As the touristic slogan of the country goes, Montenegro is really Wild Beauty.

I got some time to get out and explore Kotor, Montenegro today. This place is spectacular. I mean, it's one of those places that within just a couple minutes I knew it was going to be special. Kotor is build on the edge of a beautiful fjord and the mountains are jagged and stunning. It's one of the most beautiful natural settings I've come across in Europe to date.
I'm here in Kotor for the next 1-2 weeks. So, I just kind of went out and scouted the town for some cool photography locations. I'm going to be in Montenegro for 2 weeks, and I'm really looking forward to having Kotor as a base. You can tell in this video just how happy I am to be in a new destination, and a place that's so very interesting. There will be loads more to come from Kotor and other places in Montenegro in days to come.

Kotor (Montenegrin: Котор / Kotor, pronounced [kɔ̌tɔr]) is a coastal city in Montenegro. It is located in a secluded part of the Gulf of Kotor. The city has a population of 13,510 and is the administrative center of the municipality.
The old Mediterranean port of Kotor is surrounded by an impressive city wall built by the Republic of Venice and Venetian influence remains predominant in the city's architecture. The Bay of Kotor (Boka Kotorska; Bocche di Cattaro), one of the most indented parts of the Adriatic Sea, is sometimes called the southern-most fjord in Europe (though it is actually a submerged river canyon). Together with the nearly overhanging limestone cliffs of Orjen and Lovćen, Kotor and its surrounding area form an impressive and picturesque Mediterranean landscape.
In recent years, Kotor has seen a steady increase in tourists, many of them coming by cruise ship. Visitors are attracted both by the natural beauty of the Gulf of Kotor and by the old town of Kotor itself.
Kotor is part of the World Heritage Site dubbed the Natural and Culturo-Historical Region of Kotor.

Its capital and largest city is Podgorica, while Cetinje is designated as the Prijestonica (Пријестоница), meaning the former Royal Capital City.
In the 10th century, there existed three Slavic principalities on the territory of Montenegro: Duklja, roughly corresponding to the southern half, Travunia, the west, and Rascia, the north. In 1042, archon Stefan Vojislav led a revolt that resulted in independence of Duklja and the establishment of the Vojislavljević dynasty. Duklja reached its zenith under Vojislav's son, Mihailo (1046–81), and his son Bodin (1081–1101). By the 13th century, Zeta had replaced Duklja when referring to the realm, which at the time was part of the Serbian Grand Principality of the Nemanjić dynasty.

I'm on Instagram at http://www.instagram.com/brendanvanson I got some time to get out and explore Kotor, Montenegro today. This place is spectacular. I mean, it's one of those places that within just a couple minutes I knew it was going to be special. Kotor is build on the edge of a beautiful fjord and the mountains are jagged and stunning. It's one of the most beautiful natural settings I've come across in Europe to date. I'm here in Kotor for the next 1-2 weeks. So, I just kind of went out and scouted the town for some cool photography locations. I'm going to be in Montenegro for 2 weeks, and I'm really looking forward to having Kotor as a base. You can tell in this video just how happy I am to be in a new destination, and a place that's so very interesting. There will be loads more to come from Kotor and other places in Montenegro in days to come.

Our last stop in our cruise MSC Musica was in this little unknown place called Kotor, in Montenegro. We honestly had no idea what we were expecting, and it was an amazing surprise! This place is magical, it gives you that movie feeling too like Santorini. Sadly, we had very little time to be there, less than a couple of hours since we got out of the cruise quite late. Beside beautiful old town with narrow streets the beaches and bays along the Adriatic are worth a visit.
Budva and Kotor are located along the Mediterranean coast of Montenegro and easily accessible from Dubrovnik in Croatia or the capital Podgorica.
Most of the best things to do in Montenegro can be found along the coastline - in summer this place is the hot spots for locals and tourists alike.

Perast (Montenegrin and Serbian Cyrillic: Пераст, pronounced [pɛ̌rast], Italian: Perasto) is an old town on the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro. It is situated a few kilometres northwest of Kotor and is noted for its proximity to the islets of St. George and Our Lady of the Rocks.
Geography
Perast lies beneath the hill of St. Ilija (873 m), on a cape that separates the Bay of Risano from that of Kotor, and overlooks the Verige strait, the narrowest part of the Bay of Kotor. The average yearly temperature in Perast is 18.3°C, and the number of sunny days is 240 (or around 2,500 sunny hours per year).
Near Perast there are two islets: one is called Sveti Đorđe (St. George) and the other Gospa od Škrpjela (Our Lady of the Rocks), and each has a picturesque chapel. Gospa od Škrpjela is particularly interesting given that it is the only artificially-built island in the Adriatic, with an area of 3,030 m² — it was built upon a rock (Škrpjel) after two Venetian sailors from Perast found a picture of the Virgin Mary on it in 1452.

I got some time to get out and explore Kotor, Montenegro today. This place is spectacular. I mean, it's one of those places that within just a couple minutes I knew it was going to be special. Kotor is build on the edge of a beautiful fjord and the mountains are jagged and stunning. It's one of the most beautiful natural settings I've come across in Europe to date.
I'm here in Kotor for the next 1-2 weeks. So, I just kind of went out and scouted the town for some cool photography locations. I'm going to be in Montenegro for 2 weeks, and I'm really looking forward to having Kotor as a base. You can tell in this video just how happy I am to be in a new destination, and a place that's so very interesting. There will be loads more to come from Kotor and other places in Montenegro in days to come.

There’s not long to go until Eurovision bursts into our living rooms for a grand final overflowing with colour, energy and rainbow flags (yes, they escaped the banned list) ... “Sing It Away” by Sandhja for Finland. Think the Finnish version of Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off”, only with singing, not shaking ... “The Real Thing” by Highway for Montenegro ... Heavier tracks do have a place at Eurovision and Montenegro’s entry certainly has punch....
