Be Good is a 2005 album by Alex Fong (方力申).
Lady Be Good may refer to:
Good may refer to:
The word lady is a civil term of respect for a woman, specifically the female equivalent to gentleman or lord, and in many contexts a term for any adult woman. Once confined to usage when specifically addressing women of high social class or status; over the last 300 years, the term may now be used to refer to any respectable adult woman.
The word comes from Old English hlǣfdige; the first part of the word is a mutated form of hlāf, "loaf, bread", also seen in the corresponding hlāford, "lord". The second part is usually taken to be from the root dig-, "to knead", seen also in dough; the sense development from bread-kneader, or bread-maker, or bread-shaper, to the ordinary meaning, though not clearly to be traced historically, may be illustrated by that of "lord".
Theodore Shaw "Teddy" Wilson (November 24, 1912 – July 31, 1986) was an American jazz pianist. Described by critic Scott Yanow as "the definitive swing pianist", Wilson's sophisticated and elegant style was featured on the records of many of the biggest names in jazz, including Louis Armstrong, Lena Horne, Benny Goodman, Billie Holiday, and Ella Fitzgerald. With Goodman, he was one of the first black musicians to appear prominently with white musicians. In addition to his extensive work as a sideman, Wilson also led his own groups and recording sessions from the late 1920s to the 1980s.
Wilson was born in Austin, Texas, on November 24, 1912. He studied piano and violin at Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama. After working in Speed Webb's band, with Louis Armstrong, and also understudying Earl Hines in Hines's Grand Terrace Cafe Orchestra, Wilson joined Benny Carter's Chocolate Dandies in 1933. In 1935, he joined the Benny Goodman Trio (which consisted of Goodman, Wilson and drummer Gene Krupa, later expanded to the Benny Goodman Quartet with the addition of Lionel Hampton). The trio performed during the big band's intermissions. By joining the trio, Wilson became one of the first black musicians to perform prominently in a racially integrated group.
"Oh, Lady be Good!" was written in 1924 by George and Ira Gershwin for the Broadway show, Lady, Be Good! Ella Fitzgerald first recorded the song in 1947. This ballad version from her 1959 Verve album Ella Fitzgerald Sings the George and Ira Gershwin Songbook, arranged and conducted by Nelson Riddle, demonstrates why she was one of the great singers of the Twentieth Century. I do not own the right to the song, audio, or images contained in this video. The sound recording is administered by Kontor New Media, Made in Etaly & UMG. No copyright infringement is intended. Up Date 11/30/12 To whom it may concern. It is with my utmost and sincerest apologies that some of the words in this short documentary were misspelled. Because it was my first video it took me about eight hours to complete. In which I did not rest at any times I worked. So therefore after it was uploaded it was found that several of the words had been misspelled. I could not find any way to correct them after the video was uploaded. So I just left it. Since then I have received many slanderous comments, criticism, and smart remarks aimed directly at me. Therefore I am asking you the public to let me know if you think this video needs to be removed. I am seriously considering deleting both of the videos for which I'll never post them again. But before I do please let me know what ...

Django Reinhardt et le Quintette du Hot Club de France, avec Stéphane Grappelli Stéphane Grappelli (v); Django Reinhardt (g solo); Roger Chaput, Joseph Reinhardt (g); Louis Vola (b) From the very first session of the QHCF, "Oh, Lady Be Good" shows the group still getting its bearings. The swing rhythms are still a little jerky, and part of the problem is Louis Vola's two-beat bass pattern. On the occasions where he plays four beats to the bar, the rhythmic issues straighten themselves out almost instantly. After Grappelli & Reinhardt's opening figure, the guitarist takes his first solo, paraphrasing the Gershwin melody as he goes. This was a typical setup for the early QHCF sides and Django was very adept at alternating between melody and improvisation. What is already present h...
Lady Be Good Dutch Swing College/Teddy Wilson 1976 In 1977 in Toronto we were very lucky to find out that The Dutch Swing College would go on a tour through Canada and Arie Ligthart, former banjoist with the band, but then their manager, phoned me and asked if we would be able to organize something. We had started a long term contract in DJ's Tavern in the brand new hydro building and we were able to set up three nights with the DSC and our own Climax J.B. in a double feature event. The room holds 330 people and each night we had a sell out with standing room only. The band you see here is just that band, playing the year before in a concert in Austria which also featured famous pianist Teddy Wilson. In the band are leader Peter Schilperoort clarinet, Bert de Kort on cornet, Bob Kaper...

Listen to my tale of woe,
Its terribly sad but true,
All dressed up, no place to go
Each evning Im awfly blue.
I must win some handsome guy
Cant go on like this,
I could blossom out I know,
With somebody just like you. so...
Oh, sweet and lovely lady, be good
Oh, lady, be good to me
I am so awfly misunderstood
So lady, be good to me
Oh, please have some pity
Im all alone in this big city
I tell you Im just a lonesome babe in the wood,
So lady be good to me.
Oh, please have some pity
Im all alone in this big city
I tell you Im just a lonesome babe in the wood,
So lady be good to me.
Oh lady be good to me.

Listen to my tale of woe, its terribly sad but true,
All dressed up, no place to go

I must win some winsome miss
Cant go on like this,
I could blossom out I know,
Which somebody just like you. so...
Oh sweet and lovely,
Lady be good,
Oh lady be good to me.
I am so awflly misunderstood,
So lady be good, to me.
Oh, please have some pity
Im all alone in this big city.
I tell you Im just a lonesome babe in the wood,
So lady be good....to me.
Auburn and brunette and blonde:
I love em all, tall or small
But somehow they dont grow fond;
They stagger but never fall.
Winters gone, and now its spring!
Love! where is thy sting?
If somebody wont respond,
Im going to end it all.
So.....
Oh sweet and lovely lady, be good.
Oh lady, be good to me!
I am so awfly misunderstood,
So, lady be good to me.
This is tulip weather -
So lets put two and two together.
I tell you
Im just a lonesome babe in the wood,
So, lady be good, to me.
Show version:
What a killing we could make;
Oh, lady, oh, please come through!
Susie, oh, for goodness sake;
It isnt so hard to do.
In this moment of distress
Hear my s.o.s.
All my future is at stake,
And, susie, its up to you,
So......
Oh sweet and lovely, lady be good,
Oh susie, be good to me.
I am so awflly misunderstood,
So susie, be good, to me.
Oh, please have some pity
Im all alone in this big city.
I tell you Im just a lonesome babe in the wood,
So susie be good....to me.
Listen to my tale of woe, its terribly sad but true,
All dressed up, no place to go
Each evning Im awfly blue.
I must win some winsome miss
Cant go on like this,
I could blossom out I know,
Which somebody just like you. so...
Oh, sweet and lovely wifey, be good.
Oh, wifey be good to me!
Ive put an end to your widowhood
So wifey, be good to me.
We should be more clubby -
I hope youre glad to see your hubby.
Or else, dear,
Ill be a lonely babe in the wood,
