Using a PicoScope to analyse voltage spikes in an automotive relay.
Using a PicoScope to analyse voltage spikes in an automotive relay.
Apprentices investigate the behaviour of a standard 12V, 30 Amp automotive relay as it is switched off. They use a two-channel PicoScope to observe that each time the relay is de-energised, a significant voltage spike is generated in the energising circuit, 86 - 85. They also discuss what way the field circuit should be connected in a relay. There is a mis-conception that it makes no difference which way the field is connected, the relay will work either way. This much is true, but the DIN standard identifies 86 as the start of coil and 85 end-of-coil. This standard must be followed because if the relay has a diode fitted to eliminate the voltage spike, it is always connected anode to 85 and cathode to 86 (facing back toward live). If the relay is connected incorrectly, it renders the diode useless, and the relay will put a voltage spike into the system everytime it is switched off. cpfitters.info

Problem with Voltage Spikes
Problem with Voltage Spikes
I have a problem regulating voltage within a parallel circuit. When the DC motor engages it creates a voltage spike, which lowers the overall voltage of the entire circuit. There must be some way to regulate it, but how? I would be truly grateful if someone could point me in the right direction. I hope you enjoy the cheap special FX, campy background music, and my droning voice. Until next week!

Bridgewerks MAG25TDR Voltage Spike Myth!!
Bridgewerks MAG25TDR Voltage Spike Myth!!
Seems to be aa "Urban Legend" floating around on some Large Scale Train forums that Bridgewerks Power Supplies create a huge electronics damaging voltage spike upon power up when loaded light or not loaded at all..so I shot this small video with only a digital multimeter connected to the power outputs of a Bridgewerks Mag 25 TDR power supply that is capable of putting 30 volts at 25 amps on the rails and guess what?? Just as I suspected NO VOLTAGE SPIKE!! I rest my case that it's nothing but a cyberspace bullshit Urban Legend based upon no facts just to further other manufacturers and posters underlying ajendas!

Stanley MEYER - Water Fuel Cell Part 4
www.hydrowaterpower.com www.hydrowaterpower.com Molecular Dissociation of Water: A Project for the Experimenter by Dan Danforth In the original setup that Stan Meyer showed us, he used 36 volts as the basic potential applied to the reaction chamber. He also commented that stainless steel ( 410 not 403 ) was the only metal that could be used as oxides formed with all others. His original chamber used 18 inch long by 0.375 inch diameter (od) rod surrounded by 1 inch diameter (id) 16 inch long pipe. The reason for the difference in length is for mechanical ease of construction. My prototype used 14 inch long rod and 12 inch long pipe of similar diameters as the drawing indicates. Having a severe lack of parts diversity here in Sri-Lanka, I was only able to obtain a 24 volt. 8 amp transformer and built my circuitry around that. The final output is 20 volts with Ml reading 10 amps to the pulsing circuit which generates a symetricel squarewave ( 50% duty cycle ) to the flyback inductor connected in series with the chamber as the schematic shows. The flyback high voltage spike is directed across the chamber via c* end d*. The use of a high voltage spike alone, without the current being delivered through the liquid, will not cause the disassociation to take place. This I verified using an ignition coil in place of the inductor and applied the secondary with halfwave rectification and blocking capacitor to prevent burn out to the chamber with no results. Apparently the current in ...

Save money on Electricity XPS
Save money on Electricity XPS
www.xpsgogreen.com Electricity that comes to your home from a substation has characteristics that are not ideal for your home or business, namely a poor Power Factor (PF). A poor PF can result in wires and motors overheating, shortening the life of your appliances or equipment and putting your electrical system at risk. When the PF is improved, motors will be more efficient due to them starting with less stress and running cooler, thus prolonging their life expectancy. If you experience any static 'noise' on your phone or TV, the XPS Electricity Management Systems may reduce or eliminate the static by reducing noise on the powerline. Powerline noise can also damage sensitive electronic equipment like computers, wireless devices and more. It can even cause data loss if phone lines or a cable service is used for an internet connection. Lastly, the XPS manages voltage transients. These are parasitic voltage spikes created by electronic sources in your home or business. These voltage spikes, if not managed, can reduce the life expectancy of appliances and can even cause light bulbs to burn out prematurely. Now, thanks to the XPS Electricity Management Systems, there is a smart way to manage your home's or business's energy 24/7, reducing your utility bills. Here's How It Works! XPS Electricity Management Systems improve the Power Factor by reducing the amount of reactive power that the load draws from the utility company. This is accomplished by supplying the reactive power ...

High Voltage Radiant Charger - Small Battery Charging a Big Battery
High Voltage Radiant Charger - Small Battery Charging a Big Battery
http:///www.ritalie.com/eBooks.htm This is the 3rd video in the series I have. I wanted to show what the finished design will look like. It has a cooling fan to keep the spark module cool. It has 2 1000v ultra fast recovery diodes on the output, these were later upgraded to 10 diodes in parallel, see my video on proper use of diodes for more information. The circuit diagram is now updated to show 10 diodes. This charger can be run connected or disconnected, without fear of circuit failure, or overheating. You can power it with 10.50 to 15 volts DC input power. In this video I accidently hit AC instead of DC on my volt meter, so the battery voltage was really sitting at 36 volts, not 20 volts. However, the spikes were 110 volts. The higher the voltage spikes that you see as you are radiantly charging the battery, the less charged your battery is. As the battery charges, the spikes may go down to 50 volts and then 20 volt spikes, and eventually you will not see any spikes as the battery will be fully charged and the oscilloscope will show a flat line. You can purchase this Uni-T scope for about $150 on eBay. I would suggest purchasing one, they will last forever and have many uses. For plans to build this radiant charger, please visit: www.ritalie.com Thanks very much for looking!
