Hackney Wick is an area of east London in the London Borough of Hackney, adjacent to the boundary with Old Ford in the district of Bow in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It is an inner-city development situated 5 miles (8 km) northeast of Charing Cross. West of its broad area, and with greater tube access, lies Hackney Central, the historic centre of Hackney Borough.
Hackney Wick is in the far east of the borough and it is at the southern tip of Hackney Marshes and includes part of 2012 Olympic Park west of the River Lea, (traditionally the boundary between Middlesex and Essex) and forms part of the Lower Lea Valley. Here it abuts the London Borough of Waltham Forest and the London Borough of Newham. West of the 'old' River Lea The Lee Navigation, here called Hackney Cut meets the Hertford Union Canal.
In Roman times the River Lea was a wide, fast flowing river, and the tidal estuary stretched as far as Hackney Wick. In 894, a force of Danes sailed up the river to Hertford; Alfred the Great saw an opportunity to defeat the Danes and ordered the lower reaches of the Lea drained, at Leamouth. This left the Danes' boats stranded, but also increased the flow of the river and caused the tidal head to move downriver to Old Ford.

Day 1: Barcelona is a very cool town but has until recently not had much in the way of specialty coffee. But times are changing and the city is becoming the Spanish capital of third wave. Our 3 day visit starts with a trip to the most established coffee shop and roastery -Nomad Coffee and to Satan's Coffee Corner in the hip Gothic district. Our guide and host is my good friend (and brand designer) Phillip Davidson who has very little knowledge of the specialty coffee scene but is keen to learn. Camden's always had a special place in my heart since the first time I visited London when I was 12. 13 years later, Camden High Street is only a shadow from the edgy, lively place I fell in love with, and it's crammed with generic souvenir & t-shirt shops, photographed by tourists rolling shamelessly their luggage through the narrow market lanes. I've overcome my anxiety in crowded places to film the main road and markets on this gorgeous early spring Sunday, because I wanted to share with you the places that still make Camden somehow special today. TIP: go as early as possible and try to avoid Sundays! After a morning's worth of walking around, I treated myself to some curry udon... then went back home to take in the happy and sunny environment from my neighbourhood around London Fields....
Whenever I
I close my eyes
Then I don't mind being the way I am
But whenever I try
Explaining why
I know I never can
Now that it's
Gone, paths I used to travel
Gone, things I used to handle
Gone, once I had a choice what to be
But then god kissed me
And I lost it when I fainted in his arms
Have pity on me brother
I'm trapped behind the mirror
I'm out here on the border
Wondering why
Why was it I?
Maybe my mind wouldn't have come this way
If I'd taken my time
Answers only unwind
When you can't look away
Maybe 'cause
I want the secret broken
I want the casket open
I need to see what no eyes can seeAnd when god kissed me
Then I dreamed them when I fainted in her arms
Now I've got to go on sleeping
Lean in a little closer
And I'll tell you what I'm dreaming
I'll tell you what I'm dreaming
I see time without beginning
Space without an ending
I see bodies strong and running
With minds not comprehending
Have pity on your brother
Please have pity on your sister
Take pity on each other
And on every living creature
Whenever I
Open my eyes
I can't believe it's real
It's a jungle outside
People just survive
They can't reach the high ideal
But I
Know if I can't recover, at least I
Know, I know the book from cover to cover, and who
Knows, I might dream forever
Since I've met the world's greatest lover
When god kissed me
And I knew it when I fainted in his arms
Let's dream together people
