STORYLINE:
The Beirut Hilton, built 27 years ago but never opened because of Lebanon's civil war, collapsed on Sunday - brought-down not by conflict, but by controlled detonations to make way for a new hotel.
A series of explosive charges weighing a total of 350 kilogrammes (710 pounds) of dynamite turned the 22-storey structure - bearing bullet and rocket holes and militia graffiti - into an estimated 25-tonne (ton) mountain of concrete and twisted metal in just 10 seconds.
Demolition engineer Michel Khoury estimated it would take about two months to truck the rubble out to a landfill.
Before the detonation, nearby buildings were sealed off by police, and military helicopters patrolled over the area. Although Sunday is the weekly day off in Lebanon, the area is normally busy with cyclists and families strolling on the nearby Mediterranean seafront.
The building was reportedly sold to new owners 20 (m) million dollars. A decision to take it down was made two years ago, because changes to the Beirut waterfront meant the main views of the hotel no longer faced the sea.
A new five-star hotel with 17 storeys and some 450 rooms - facing the right direction - will rise in its place.
The Beirut Hilton had been ready to open in 1975 but its formal opening was canceled at the last minute as civil war battles erupted.
Christian and Muslim militias fought room to room for control of the Hilton and other hotels and buildings nearby.
The hotel was first in the hands of Christian militias, until 1976 when it was taken over by Muslim militias. During the fighting, the hotel was stripped by looters of everything - furniture, china, carpets, TVs, phones and even elevators.
Since Lebanon's civil war ended 12 years ago, much of the downtown area where the hotel was located has been rebuilt.

Controlled Demolition Inc. taps their expertise in building implosions to take down four cooling towers at the Sellafield nuclear facility in England without disturbing the active nuclear plant. Parallax Film Productions follows this daring explosive demolition feat.
The four Calder Hall cooling towers, located at the world's first industrial-scale nuclear power plant, are 88 metres tall and will generate more than 20,000 tonnes of debris. It will take 192 kilograms of explosives and shrewd demolition engineering to make this Blowdown a success. Mark Loizeaux and his team hustle to load the towers, major symbols of the United Kingdom's industrial heritage.
The first reactor at the Calder Hall plant was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1956. The plant's four 50 MWe Magnox reactors not only generated electricity, they also produced weapons-grade plutonium. The generators produced for 47 years before ceasing operations in March 2003.

The No. 68 was an early form of shaped charge grenade, and has some claim to have been the first High Explosive, Anti Tank (HEAT) device in use. The design of the warhead was simple and was capable of penetrating 52mm (2 inches) of armour in 1940.[1]
The fuze of the grenade was armed by removing a pin in the tail which prevented the firing pin from flying forward. The grenade was launched from a rifle cup. The simple fins gave it some stability in the air and, provided the grenade hit the target at the proper angle (90 degrees), the charge would be effective. Detonation occurred on impact, when a striker in the tail of the grenade overcame the resistance of a creep spring and was thrown forward into a stab detonator.

Tens of thousands of spectators gathered in the centre of the German city of Frankfurt on Sunday to see a tower block being demolished. Shortly before midday, demolition experts pressed the buttons to set off controlled explosions on the 116 meter high building, the tallest in Europe to ever be demolished in this way. 950 kilograms of Nitropenta explosives were used to bring down the disused academic building. Controlled explosion
A controlled explosion is a method for detonating or disabling a suspected explosive device.
Methods which are used to set off a controlled explosion include clearing the area and using a bomb disposal robot to attach a shaped charge to the suspected bomb to sever the explosive from its detonator.
Another classic method of controlled explosion is to place the suspected bomb in a skip and fill it with sand before detonating it with a self-incendiary device or a fuse.

Robot examining the car STORYLINE: Russian police on Wednesday carried out a controlled explosion on a car that was parked not far from the US Ambassador's residence and the Singaporean Embassy in Moscow. A Russian police spokeswoman said that two separate explosive sniffing dogs appeared to confirm that the suspect vehicle was loaded with explosives. Police then manoeuvered a robotic probe toward the car to examine it more closely. The robot carried out a controlled explosion on the car in an attempt to detonate any explosives that may have been in the vehicle. Russian police later determined that the car did not contain any explosives. The No. 68 was an early form of shaped charge grenade, and has some claim to have been the first High Explosive, Anti Tank (HEAT) device in use. The design of the warhead was simple and was capable of penetrating 52mm (2 inches) of armour in 1940.[1] The fuze of the grenade was armed by removing a pin in the tail which prevented the firing pin from flying forward. The grenade was launched from a rifle cup. The simple fins gave it some stability in the air and, provided the grenade hit the target at the proper angle (90 degrees), the charge would be effective. Detonation occurred on impact, when a striker in the tail of the grenade overcame the resistance of a creep spring and was thrown forward into a stab detonator.

STORYLINE:
The Beirut Hilton, built 27 years ago but never opened because of Lebanon's civil war, collapsed on Sunday - brought-down not by conflict, but by controlled detonations to make way for a new hotel.
A series of explosive charges weighing a total of 350 kilogrammes (710 pounds) of dynamite turned the 22-storey structure - bearing bullet and rocket holes and militia graffiti - into an estimated 25-tonne (ton) mountain of concrete and twisted metal in just 10 seconds.
Demolition engineer Michel Khoury estimated it would take about two months to truck the rubble out to a landfill.
Before the detonation, nearby buildings were sealed off by police, and military helicopters patrolled over the area. Although Sunday is the weekly day off in Lebanon, the area is normally busy with cyclists and families strolling on the nearby Mediterranean seafront.
The building was reportedly sold to new owners 20 (m) million dollars. A decision to take it down was made two years ago, because changes to the Beirut waterfront meant the main views of the hotel no longer faced the sea.
A new five-star hotel with 17 storeys and some 450 rooms - facing the right direction - will rise in its place.
The Beirut Hilton had been ready to open in 1975 but its formal opening was canceled at the last minute as civil war battles erupted.
Christian and Muslim militias fought room to room for control of the Hilton and other hotels and buildings nearby.
The hotel was first in the hands of Christian militias, until 1976 when it was taken over by Muslim militias. During the fighting, the hotel was stripped by looters of everything - furniture, china, carpets, TVs, phones and even elevators.
Since Lebanon's civil war ended 12 years ago, much of the downtown area where the hotel was located has been rebuilt.

The No. 68 was an early form of shaped charge grenade, and has some claim to have been the first High Explosive, Anti Tank (HEAT) device in use. The design of the warhead was simple and was capable of penetrating 52mm (2 inches) of armour in 1940.[1]
The fuze of the grenade was armed by removing a pin in the tail which prevented the firing pin from flying forward. The grenade was launched from a rifle cup. The simple fins gave it some stability in the air and, provided the grenade hit the target at the proper angle (90 degrees), the charge would be effective. Detonation occurred on impact, when a striker in the tail of the grenade overcame the resistance of a creep spring and was thrown forward into a stab detonator.

Shortly before midday, demolition experts pressed the buttons to set off controlled explosions on the 116 meter high building, the tallest in Europe to ever be demolished in this way. 950 kilograms of Nitropenta explosives were used to bring down the disused academic building. STORYLINE:
Russian police on Wednesday carried out a controlled explosion on a car that was parked not far from the US Ambassador's residence and the Singaporean Embassy in Moscow.
A Russian police spokeswoman said that two separate explosive sniffing dogs appeared to confirm that the suspect vehicle was loaded with explosives.
Police then manoeuvered a robotic probe toward the car to examine it more closely.
The robot carried out a controlled explosion on the car in an attempt to detonate any explosives that may have been in the vehicle.
Russian police later determined that the car did not contain any explosives.

Exotic incendiary/explosive compounds such as thermite and nano-thermite which were discovered in unreacted form in the dust from the collapses would account for the melted steel and iron (aluminum doesn't rust) found beneath all three collapsed buildings. Simple office fires, even with jet fuel thrown in, cannot reach temperatures high enough to melt steel. Thermite would also account for the recorded temperatures of 2,800 degrees (F) in the oxygen starved environment deep under the collapsed buildings and the deeply buried fires which required three months to extinguish.

A second electronic communiqué was received on Sunday, December 11, 2016 in our official mail account requesting us to disclose information that we consider to be 'delicate' and extremely important that in the weekly Solar and Seismic Report with Alex Backman has been recorded successfully and Is uploading to this channel and will be ready and uploaded today.
