Richard Colvin Reid (born 12 August 1973), also known as the Shoe Bomber, is a British man who attempted to detonate explosives packed into the shoes he was wearing, while on American Airlines Flight 63 from Paris to Miami. Born to a father who was a career criminal, Reid converted to Islam as a young man in prison after years as a petty criminal. Later he became radicalised and went to Pakistan and Afghanistan, where he trained and became a member of al-Qaeda.
On 22 December 2001, he boarded American Airlines Flight 63 between Paris and Miami, wearing shoes packed with explosives, which he unsuccessfully tried to detonate. Passengers subdued him on the plane, which landed at Logan International Airport in Boston, Massachusetts, the closest US airport. He was subsequently arrested and indicted. In 2002, Reid pleaded guilty in U.S. federal court to eight criminal counts of terrorism, based on his attempt to destroy a commercial aircraft in flight. He was sentenced to 3 life terms plus 110 years in prison without parole and is held in a super maximum security prison in the United States.
The Germanic first or given name Richard derives from German, French, and English "ric" (ruler, leader, king) and "hard" (strong, brave), and it therefore means "powerful leader". Nicknames include "Dick", "Dickie", "Rich", "Richie", "Rick", "Ricky", "Rickey", and others.
"Richard" is a common name in many Germanic languages, including English, German, Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, Icelandic, and Dutch. It can also be used as a French, Hungarian, Finnish, and Estonian name.
Mardi Gras (/ˈmɑːrdiɡrɑː/), also called Shrove Tuesday, or Fat Tuesday, in English, refers to events of the Carnival celebrations, beginning on or after the Christian feasts of the Epiphany (Three King's Day) and culminating on the day before Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is French for "Fat Tuesday", reflecting the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season.
Related popular practices are associated with Shrovetide celebrations before the fasting and religious obligations associated with the penitential season of Lent. In countries such as England, Mardi Gras is also known as Shrove Tuesday, which is derived from the word shrive, meaning "confess".
Popular practices on Mardi Gras include wearing masks and costumes, overturning social conventions, dancing, sports competitions, parades, debauchery, etc. Similar expressions to Mardi Gras appear in other European languages sharing the Christian tradition, as it is associated with the religious requirement for confession before Lent begins. In many areas, the term "Mardi Gras" has come to mean the whole period of activity related to the celebratory events, beyond just the single day. In some American cities, it is now called "Mardi Gras Day".

Richard Reid, the British man who tried to detonate a bomb in his shoe on an American Airlines flight from Paris to Miami in 2001 has recently made attempts to have the fine forgiven. The flight, on which he attempted to detonate explosives, was diverted to Boston where Reid received his sentencing. Reid is serving life without parole in a Colorado prison and has recently claimed that he is not able, and will never be able to pay the $250, 000 fine that he was charged as part of his sentencing. Richard Reid is asking a federal judge in Boston to declare him bankrupt so that the fine may be forgiven. http://hosted2.ap.org/apdefault/386c25518f464186bf7a2ac026580ce7/Article_2016-12-02-US--Shoe%20Bomb/id-69111164c0f34e4d9cac0a90dc202dd8 http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Woch...

RICHARD Reid might like a bit of gossip, but he has no time for former Bachelor Blake Garvey. The former Today gossip guru didn’t hold back on his opinion of Garvey, who he appeared alongside in the latest season of Celebrity Apprentice. Reid, who described the Perth real estate agent as “the biggest pretender on Earth” told news.com.au he believes that what you see is not necessarily what you get with Garvey. “It surprised me how high of an opinion he has of himself and that doesn't go down well with me,” Reid said.https://youtu.be/xrH1-p50tSU Subscribe to Fast News 24-http://bit.ly/1I255xr
Judge Young presided over the shoe bomber case in 2003. His summary words ranks among the great speeches in American History, yet few ever heard them. Now, NightRide USA brings them to you.
The significance of precolonial History has declined markedly in the public and professional eyes of the people of sub-Saharan Africa over the last forty years. History has been demonised -- depicted as a deeply dangerous and as the source of savagery and instability -- or portrayed as irrelevant when set alongside the needs of economic modernisation and development. This lecture explores this trend in the context of Uganda, chosen for its particularly rich oral and literary heritage and its complex and troubled twentieth century. Prof. Richard Reid will consider the role of History in a modern African society vis-à-vis the developmental agendas and notions of economic growth against which African 'progress' and prospects for 'stability' are currently measured. Richard Fliehr talks about WWE using Reid Flair's death for their product and them not telling him about it. interview by Ric Flair, WOOOOO! Nation podcast http://www1.play.it/audio/wooooo-nation-with-ric-flair/ WWE's higher up are awful. And more people should know that wrestlers just can't say no to something, otherwise they would get buried, same with Owen Hart who expected to live after the stunt they told him to do. Owen Hart died because other people didn't do their job right and he only had one quick release cord as opposed to Sting (Steve Borden) who always had a backup cable and locking carabiner because Vincent " Vince" Russo wanted Owen Hart to trip and fall as a spoof on wrestling superheroes, that's why they didn't give Owen a safety line, so he could release himself quickly t...
Awesome fun catching up with Richard Reid from the Today Show... He files his reports daily from LA and so we sat down in one of the rooms to film a quick chat... Apologies for the sound etc... Had to use the spare camera and the microphone doesn't work on the back up camera :)
The Good Morning Britain studio was hit with a case of the giggle fits after a suspicious sound came from Richard's chair... Poor Susanna could barely say her next link she was laughing so much - at least Ben was on hand to help out!
