Zoe Williams (born 1973) is a British columnist and journalist.

She attended the independent Godolphin and Latymer School girls school and read Modern History at Lincoln College, Oxford.. Her parents separated in 1976 and formally divorced 20 years later.

Williams writes for The Guardian and the New Statesman. She writes political commentary, interviews and reviews. Her work has also appeared in other publications, including The Spectator, NOW Magazine, the London Cycling Campaign's magazine London Cyclist and the London Evening Standard where she contributed columns on a variety of subjects, and a diary about being a single woman in London.

In May 2011 Williams admitted to fare dodging when in her 30s while travelling on London buses. She wrote "I actually had a lot of affection for bendy buses, mainly because evading your fare was so easy that to pay was almost missing the point. We used to call it freebussing."

Williams describes her political views as left-wing and feminist. She sometimes covers feminist issues in her columns, and is a supporter of the British Humanist Association.

Hugo Rifkind (born 1977 in Edinburgh) is a columnist for The Times and The Spectator and the son of MP and former Conservative and Unionist Cabinet Minister, Sir Malcolm Rifkind.

Hugo Rifkind was born 1977 in Edinburgh, the son of Malcolm and Edith Rifkind. He is Jewish.

Rifkind was educated at the independent Loretto School in Musselburgh, near Edinburgh. He also attended George Watson's College in Edinburgh before reading philosophy at Emmanuel College, Cambridge.

Rifkind started in journalism in as an editorial assistant for the "showbiz" website Peoplenews.com, before becoming a freelance writer for The Times and the Evening Standard, and a columnist for the Glasgow Herald. He joined The Times in 2005, taking over the gossip column ("People") from Andrew Pierce.

As of 2011 Rifkind writes a weekly opinion column for The Times on Fridays and a satirical diary ("My Week") on Saturdays, in the style of a public figure in the news. He also writes a fortnightly column for The Spectator and a monthly column for GQ. Additionally, he has appeared on BBC Radio Scotland and BBC London and BBC Radio 4's satirical quiz show The News Quiz. His debut novel, Overexposure, a satirical farce set in the London media world, was published in 2006.

Rupert Read is an academic and a Green Party politician in England. He is currently Chair of the Green House thinktank, East of England Green Party Co-ordinator and a Reader in Philosophy at the University of East Anglia.

Read comments regularly through the Eastern Daily Press 'One World Column'. In his regular appearances in the local and national press, he speaks on sustainable transport, green economics and social justice.

Read studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at Balliol College, Oxford, before undertaking postgraduate studies in the United States at Princeton University and Rutgers University (where he gained his doctorate). Influenced by Ludwig Wittgenstein’s philosophy, his PhD involved “a Wittgensteinian exploration of the relationship between Kripke’s ‘quus’ problem and Nelson Goodman’s ‘grue’ problem.”

He is currently Reader in Philosophy at the University of East Anglia, specialising in philosophy of language, philosophy of science, and environmental philosophy, previously having taught at Manchester. He has contributed to many books, including, in 2002, Kuhn: Philosopher of Scientific Revolution, on the work of Thomas Kuhn, and, in 2005, Film As Philosophy: Essays in Cinema After Wittgenstein And Cavell. His book Philosophy for Life: Applying Philosophy in Politics and Culture, was released in July 2007.
