For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty:
Private First Class Ross A. McGinnis distinguished himself by acts of gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty while serving as an M2 .50-caliber Machine Gunner, 1st Platoon, C Company, 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, in connection with combat operations against an armed enemy in Adhamiyah, Northeast Baghdad, Iraq, on 4 December 2006.
That afternoon his platoon was conducting combat control operations in an effort to reduce and control sectarian violence in the area. While Private McGinnis was manning the M2 .50-caliber Machine Gun, a fragmentation grenade thrown by an insurgent fell through the gunner's hatch into the vehicle. Reacting quickly, he yelled "grenade," allowing all four members of his crew to prepare for the grenade's blast. Then, rather than leaping from the gunner's hatch to safety, Private McGinnis made the courageous decision to protect his crew. In a selfless act of bravery, in which he was mortally wounded, Private McGinnis covered the live grenade, pinning it between his body and the vehicle and absorbing most of the explosion.
Private McGinnis' gallant action directly saved four men from certain serious injury or death. Private First Class McGinnis' extraordinary heroism and selflessness at the cost of his own life, above and beyond the call of duty, are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army. Private first class (PFC) is a military rank held by junior enlisted persons.
The rank of private first class in the Singapore Armed Forces lies between the ranks of private (PTE) and lance-corporal (LCP). It is usually held by conscript soldiers midway through their national service term. Privates first class wear a rank insignia consisting of a single chevron pointing down.
In the United States Army, recruits usually enter the army as private in pay grade E-1. Private (E-2), designated by a single chevron is typically an automatic promotion after six months of service. Private first class (E-3), equivalent to NATO grade OR-3, is designated by a single chevron and a rocker stripe and is more common among soldiers who have served in the U.S. Army for one year or more. Soldiers with prior military training such as JROTC, Sea Scouting or similar program, or who have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts or have achieved an associate degree or its equivalent are entitled to enter the army at this pay grade. Advancement from private first class is typically to specialist, although occasionally it may be to corporal.

For $25,000, you can have the ultimate first class experience with Cathay Pacific Airlines, where you can have your own pod. This includes a chair that silently transforms into a full length bed. The pod is also adorned with a vase with orchids, so you feel a bit more at home and close to nature. Lufthansa has taken the first class game and improved it. Not only do you get a big comfy chair, but you get a bed as well. The chair is pumped with gadgets as well for your enjoyment. You don’t even have to worry about breathing dry air, as the cabin is pumped with a humidifier. Tickets for this experience starts at $27,000. Finally, these last two airlines are basically like flying hotel rooms. Emirates Airlines offers a private cabin with a mini bar, adjustable lighting, as well as a full shower with a marble sink. So if you really need to freshen up, it’s a lot better than the tiny bathroom in coach. They even have a communal lounge where you can enjoy drinks and hors d’ouerves. From the walkie-talkie comes the news that the captain is heading back to base and is done with that nights post checks. Seeing that it's still a long, boring night ahead, The Private starts looking for excuses hazing the rookie. At first, Private First Class doesn't seem to mind too much. Until the trick, "The moon chase" is pulled on the rookie does Private First Class start feeling sympathy towards the rookie. As the hazing turns more ugly, Private First Class urges The Private to stop his immoral actions. The two argue and Private First Class slowly comes to the realization that he too, was once picking on rookies; and he is actually responsible for this unstoppable cycle of pain. When did he become someone he loathes? What can he now do to change it? As the long night comes close to an end, the mysterious seaside woman nicknamed "28" shows up. The Private forces the rookie to have sex with "28" as a rite of passage all soldiers on this coast have gone through. Private First Class steps forward to stop this horrendous act, yet his choice of action may be just as ridiculous and absurd...

This promotion is a very special promotion, because rarely are enlisted soldiers (Private through Sergeant Major of the Army) promoted by a Colonel (yes colonel, not lieutenant colonel). The private promoted is PFC York. This is her first duty station. She is on the Army Okinawa 10 miler team, works the S-2 shop, and a very outstanding soldier. Which makes it all the better for her to be promoted by Colonel Woodard, Torii Station post commander and the highest ranking Army Okinawa officer. -

Thompson Recognizes Army Private First Class Ross Andrew McGinnis
In 2006, Private Ross McGinnis gave up his life to save four others from a grenade blast inside a Humvee during Operation Iraqi Freedom. On June 2, 2008, McGinnis was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously for his courageous actions. "In a selfless act of bravery, in which he was mortally wounded, Private McGinnis covered the live grenade, pinning it between his body and the vehicle and absorbing most of the explosion," the official citation read, which was awarded by President George Bush. In August, Little League International plans to enshrine the first ever Little League graduate known to have received our nation's highest military award, the Medal of Honor. That person is Army Private First Class Ross Andrew McGinnis, of Knox, Pennsylvania. -

You can’t beat first class with the wider seats, the beverages, better food, and service that makes you feel like you’re royalty. If you’re flying across the country, then first class is definitely more comfortable, and you rarely have to deal with the tiny seats and being forced to be in closed quarters with complete strangers. But there are airlines who have taken the concept of first class and bumped it up a notched. Here are some of the most luxurious first class sections in the airline industry. The cost? Well, let’s just say you’ll probably have to save your salary for the next several years to be able to afford it.
For $13,000 you can be a premiere passenger on an Air France flight, which includes a space where you can store all of your valuables, along with a bed, a reading lamp, and curtains so you can have some privacy. Quantas Airlines has a set up similar to that and puts it on steroids. If you’ve ever wanted to have the feeling like you’re on your very own jet, Quantas is the way to go with your own privacy pod that comes with its own suite, as well as a common area for wealthy passengers to get together and mingle. This can be all yours for $13,500.
Ever wanted to know what it’s like to be tucked into bed by a flight attendant? Well, Singapore Airlines does just that. You’re immediately given pajamas that are designed by Givenchy, and toiletries by Ferragamo. Your seat can also be transformed into a fluffy bed, where the flight attendants will see to it that you’re tucked in and comfy. Tickets for this experience starts at $15,000.
For $25,000, you can have the ultimate first class experience with Cathay Pacific Airlines, where you can have your own pod. This includes a chair that silently transforms into a full length bed. The pod is also adorned with a vase with orchids, so you feel a bit more at home and close to nature. Lufthansa has taken the first class game and improved it. Not only do you get a big comfy chair, but you get a bed as well. The chair is pumped with gadgets as well for your enjoyment. You don’t even have to worry about breathing dry air, as the cabin is pumped with a humidifier. Tickets for this experience starts at $27,000.
Finally, these last two airlines are basically like flying hotel rooms. Emirates Airlines offers a private cabin with a mini bar, adjustable lighting, as well as a full shower with a marble sink. So if you really need to freshen up, it’s a lot better than the tiny bathroom in coach. They even have a communal lounge where you can enjoy drinks and hors d’ouerves. All of this can be yours for $30,000. Finally, we have Etihad Airways, who have diamond first class suites with three room cabins. These cabins also include a full size bathroom with a luxurious shower. You can even have your own butler! What’s the cost? $43,000.

The living room has a luxurious Poltrona Frau leather double-seat sofa with ottoman, two dining tables, chilled drinks cabinet and 32-inch flat screen TV.

PFC is a natural born leader, who clearly never fears a challenge. As a recruit, PFC Jett made himself stand out by helping his fellow Marine recruits at every turn. He then became a helo crew leader, trained to fire the big .50 caliber machine gun from the side mount. He also trained to fly the helo in case the pilot became wounded. Jett is lean, but tough in all the right places, and he packs a pretty thick barreled gun himself....

On June 2, 2008, McGinnis was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously for his courageous actions. "In a selfless act of bravery, in which he was mortally wounded, Private McGinnis covered the live grenade, pinning it between his body and the vehicle and absorbing most of the explosion," the official citation read, which was awarded by President George Bush.
In August, Little League International plans to enshrine the first ever Little League graduate known to have received our nation's highest military award, the Medal of Honor. That person is Army Private First Class Ross Andrew McGinnis, of Knox, Pennsylvania.
