Flying Scotsman has just undergone a total overhaul at the

A bit of a late commemoration for
Flying Scotsman's return to steam and Inaugural Run last month. Was keeping up with the progress since I got to see the engine in pieces back in
2013. After
Junior Campbell posted a video with

Tens of thousands of people were everywhere along the line (including parking on the A1 dual carriageway) and it was impossible to film without getting someone's back in the shot ! Also there were the obligatory two helicopters following the train.
I fear this event could put future steam workings on the
East Coast Mainline at risk.
Regular service trains were having to run at reduced speed because of people on the line and, no doubt, there will be compensation claims made against the
operator,
Virgin.
Let's keep our fingers crossed !

The timetable slipped well behind due to the delay. Given the inclusion of the diesel, it was only taking it's weight and rarely assisted the able Scotsman.
Locations for today were
Rawtenstall,

wn.com/Flying Scotsman Returns
Painstakingly overhauled and repainted in BR livery,
Flying Scotsman has returned to its former stamping ground on the
East Coast Main Line with a run from
London King’s Cross to
York.
This legend of the railway’s past is back in steam again after benefiting from a £4.2 million restoration programme.
It’s been a long haul, due in part to the extensive modification and variable maintenance it received under private ownership.
Designed by
Sir Nigel Gresley, Flying Scotsman emerged from
Doncaster works as an
A1 locomotive in 1923. It hauled the inaugural non-stop
London to
Edinburgh service on 1st May 1928 and became the first steam locomotive to officially reach
100 mph six years later.
Having covered more than two million miles, it entered private ownership in the Sixties and went on to tour both
North America and
Australia. Today the locomotive is in the hands of the
National Railway Museum, bought in 2004 through a sealed-bid auction for £2.3 million.
Ahead of Flying Scotsman is a busy summer, starring in a season of events at the National Railway Museum before venturing out onto the main line again for a nationwide tour, most of it already sold out.

A bit of a late commemoration for
Flying Scotsman's return to steam and Inaugural Run last month. Was keeping up with the progress since I got to see the engine in pieces back in
2013. After
Junior Campbell posted a video with
Scotsman and put
Thomas music over it I tried it with this piece and sounded reasonable so I made my own and replicated some of the shots. :P Ay.
Can't wait to see him in
The Great Race later this year! ^_^ At least this video doesn't have any trainspotters trespassing the tracks!
