Mike Straka (born 10 October 1969) is an American television host, author and journalist. He serves as co-host and producer on Spike TV's primetime mma news magazine show "MMA Uncensored Live" and is the host of "TapouT Radio" on SiriusXM Sports with TapouT founders Punkass and Skyskrape. Straka also hosted Fighting Words with Mike Straka on HDNet which featured interviews with mixed martial arts athletes. He is also a regular contributor to FIGHT! Magazine, and has penned an MMA book based on interviews from his television show called "Fightng Words," from Triumph Books.
Straka was a vice president and executive producer at FOX News Digital, and also served as an on-air commentator on Hollywood and celebrity topics, as well as sports, for the cable net and on FOXNews.com. Straka created and was the executive producer of Strategy Room on FOXNews.com and was the host and executive producer of FOX Fight Game, a mixed martial arts features and news program. Straka also played the role of Young Minetta in the movie Analyze This and Johnny in the hit play Tony n' Tina's Wedding, and was a star in several television commercials in the 1990s.
Frank James Edgar (born October 16, 1981) is an American mixed martial artist, who competes as a lightweight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and is a former UFC Lightweight Champion. His first career loss came against Gray Maynard in 2008, which marked the beginning of a noted rivalry. He later avenged the loss to Maynard with a KO victory in 2011. As of March 2012, he is ranked as the #2 lightweight in the world by Sherdog.com.
Born and raised in Toms River, New Jersey, Frankie Edgar wrestled at Toms River High School East, making it to the New Jersey state championship tournament on three occasions, placing second as a junior and fifth as a senior. Edgar is the oldest of 3 children, Edgar went on to compete in the NHSCA Senior Nationals and placed second before he finished high school. He continued wrestling at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, where he qualified for the nationals all four years there. Edgar is also an assistant coach for the Rutgers University wrestling team.
Edgar entered his first mixed martial arts fight with only a few weeks of training outside of his wrestling background. Edgar originally trained with Rob Guarino of Rhino Fight Team, but today he is part of the Gracie system under Ricardo Almeida in Hamilton, NJ. Since seventh grade Edgar has wrestled with Steve Rivera at Elite Wrestling NJ in Jackson, NJ. His boxing trainer is Mark Henry of Millstone, NJ.
Phil Nurse (born on 3 April 1963), often referred to as Kru Phil Nurse, is a British former Muay Thai kickboxer and an undefeated European Light Welterweight Champion, Double British Champion, and British All Styles Super Light Welterweight Champion. He currently is the owner and senior instructor at Wat in Manhattan.
Born on 3 April 1963 in Northern England to Barbadian parents, Phil naturally became enamored with Football (known as Soccer in the US). He was a very promising player until a leg injury forced him to seek other active ways to rehabilitate itself. At the age of 17, he began using Muay Thai aka Thai Boxing to strengthen his injury and found the sport addictive. He began his training with Grand Master Sken, who is largely credited with bringing Muay Thai to the UK. Through dedication and hard training, Phil rose through the ranks of Thai Boxing becoming European and British Welterweight Champion. Phil’s record to date is 32-3-0, with 15 fights by way of knock out. Though currently retired, He has held and never lost 3 title belts: European Light Welterweight Champion, Double British Champion, and British All Styles Super Light Welterweight Champion. Phil has successfully defended both his European Light Welterweight and his British Super Light Welterweight Titles twice.
