Founded on January 17th, 1894, the town was originally called Lawson, after the townsite owner, Stonewall Lawson. As with most of the land run towns, its livelihood was based on agriculture. Transportation meant life or death for these early towns, and the town received a boost in 1904 when the Eastern Oklahoma Railway built a line from Newkirk to Pauls Valley, passing through Quay.
On February 24th, 1903, the town was renamed Quay, in honor of Pennsylvania Senator Matthew Quay and by statehood in 1907, the town had settled into a quiet agricultural center with the usual businesses, including a bank, cotton gin, grain elevator, and a public school. This all changed with the discovery of oil in the area in 1914.
As people flocked to the area, the population rapidly expanded from 150 people to over 5,000 in the town and almost the same number in the surrounding oil camps. By 1919, the business district covered over 3/4 of a mile, lined with hotels, boarding houses, restaurants, various retail stores, a movie theater, liveries, oil supply firms, and a Masonic Hall. The town had two news papers, multiple churches, a hospital, and a new $60,000 school was built, a huge sum for the era.
During the 1920s, two oil field fires swept through the town, destroying most of these establishments. These catastrophies, along with declining oil production and the great depression, dealt Quay a blow from which it never recovered. The last bank, the First State Bank of Quay relocated to the oil boom town of Webb City in 1927 and though the town lingered, by 1950 the poplulation had dropped to less than 70 people. The post office closed in 1957 followed by the school in 1965.
The final chapter occured in the new millenium when on the 23rd of August, 2000, 106 years after it's founding, the town officially disincorporated.
The Lawson cemetery, established in 1896, remains in use, but other than a few homes and bits of concrete foundation, little remains of the town of Quay.

Full match highlights from Friday's 4-0 win away at GAP Connah's Quay at the Deeside Stadium.
Matthew Hearsey scored a wonder goal early on, and this was added to in the second half by goals from Jeff White, Andy Jones and a penalty from top goalscorer Craig Williams.
The win moves Newtown up to fourth in the Welsh Premier League.

When your climbing competition is set to take place on the historic waterfront of Exeter in the UK how do you get your climbing wall into a position where everyone can see it? You make it float of course! This was precisely what happened at The Quay Climbing Centre's deep water solo competition; the first of its kind in the UK. In August of 2014, over 100 climbers travelled to the city to compete on the incredible climbing wall constructed specifically for the event on a floating pontoon. The highlight of the weekend was arguably the Women's Open final which saw visiting American Sierra Blaire-Coyle duke it out with British strong women Emma Twyford and Michaela Tracey. A gripping final saw Emma beaten into third by Sierra with 2014 Bouldering World Championship finalist Michaela outstripping both of them to take first. In the men's draw meanwhile it was an all-English affair with Liam Halsey taking the win ahead of Matt Cousins and Nathan Phillips in second and third respectively.

Matthew Stanley Quay (September 30, 1833 – May 28, 1904) was an immensely powerful Pennsylvania political boss once dubbed a "kingmaker" by President Benjamin Harrison. "Boss" Quay's political principles and actions stood in contrast to an unusually attractive personality. He was a resident of Beaver, northwest of Pittsburgh; today, his house is a National Historic Landmark.
Quay was born in Dillsburg, York County, Pennsylvania, the son of a preacher, Anderson Quay. He graduated at Jefferson College (now Washington and Jefferson College) in 1850 and was admitted to the bar in 1854. He served in various capacities in the American Civil War and Congress awarded him the Medal of Honor for gallantry at the battle of Fredericksburg.
From 1865–1867 he was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. From 1869, when he had served as secretary of the Republican State Committee, until his death, he was the most influential Republican politician in Pennsylvania. He served as Secretary of the Commonwealth from 1873–1878 and again from 1879–1882. He was the County Recorder of Philadelphia from 1878–1879, and state treasurer from 1886–1887. He became chairman of the Republican National Committee in 1888, and was a member of the United States Senate from March 4, 1887 until March 3, 1899.

Christopher Jonathan James Nolan (/ˈnoʊlən/; born 30 July 1970), also known as Chris Nolan is a British/Americanfilm director, screenwriter and producer.
He received serious notice after his second feature Memento (2000), which he wrote and directed based on a story idea by his brother, Jonathan Nolan. Jonathan went to co-write later scripts with him, including the Batman series and The Prestige. He also first collaborated with Wally Pfister, who would photograph all his subsequent films. After directing Insomnia (2002), Nolan pitched an idea for a reboot of the Batman film franchise to Warner Bros., eventually making a successful trilogy consisting of Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008) and The Dark Knight Rises (2012).
Inception (2010) was an original screenplay by Nolan, a heist film set in the world of "shared dreaming." Nolan co-founded Syncopy Films with his wife, Emma Thomas, and they have produced all his films since The Prestige (2006).
Nolan has also worked with screenwriter David S. Goyer, film editor Lee Smith, composers David Julyan and Hans Zimmer, special effects coordinator Chris Corbould, and actors Christian Bale, Cillian Murphy, Jeremy Theobald, Tom Hardy, Ken Watanabe, and Michael Caine.

Founded on January 17th, 1894, the town was originally called Lawson, after the townsite owner, Stonewall Lawson. As with most of the land run towns, its livelihood was based on agriculture. Transportation meant life or death for these early towns, and the town received a boost in 1904 when the Eastern Oklahoma Railway built a line from Newkirk to Pauls Valley, passing through Quay.
On February 24th, 1903, the town was renamed Quay, in honor of Pennsylvania Senator Matthew Quay and by statehood in 1907, the town had settled into a quiet agricultural center with the usual businesses, including a bank, cotton gin, grain elevator, and a public school. This all changed with the discovery of oil in the area in 1914.
As people flocked to the area, the population rapidly expanded from 150 people to over 5,000 in the town and almost the same number in the surrounding oil camps. By 1919, the business district covered over 3/4 of a mile, lined with hotels, boarding houses, restaurants, various retail stores, a movie theater, liveries, oil supply firms, and a Masonic Hall. The town had two news papers, multiple churches, a hospital, and a new $60,000 school was built, a huge sum for the era.
During the 1920s, two oil field fires swept through the town, destroying most of these establishments. These catastrophies, along with declining oil production and the great depression, dealt Quay a blow from which it never recovered. The last bank, the First State Bank of Quay relocated to the oil boom town of Webb City in 1927 and though the town lingered, by 1950 the poplulation had dropped to less than 70 people. The post office closed in 1957 followed by the school in 1965.
The final chapter occured in the new millenium when on the 23rd of August, 2000, 106 years after it's founding, the town officially disincorporated.
The Lawson cemetery, established in 1896, remains in use, but other than a few homes and bits of concrete foundation, little remains of the town of Quay.

When your climbing competition is set to take place on the historic waterfront of Exeter in the UK how do you get your climbing wall into a position where everyone can see it? You make it float of course! This was precisely what happened at The Quay Climbing Centre's deep water solo competition; the first of its kind in the UK. In August of 2014, over 100 climbers travelled to the city to compete on the incredible climbing wall constructed specifically for the event on a floating pontoon. The highlight of the weekend was arguably the Women's Open final which saw visiting American Sierra Blaire-Coyle duke it out with British strong women Emma Twyford and Michaela Tracey. A gripping final saw Emma beaten into third by Sierra with 2014 Bouldering World Championship finalist Michaela outstripping both of them to take first. In the men's draw meanwhile it was an all-English affair with Liam Halsey taking the win ahead of Matt Cousins and Nathan Phillips in second and third respectively.
