Bill O’Reilly questioned Donald Trump’s ability to provide jobs in African-American communities during an interview on Monday by painting black Americans as being ill-equipped for the labor force. “How are you going to get jobs for them?” O’Reilly asked. “Many of them are ill-educated and have tattoos on their foreheads, and I hate to be generalized about it but it’s true. If you look at all the educational statistics, how are you going to give jobs to people who aren’t qualified for jobs?” “We’re gonna bring jobs back,” Trump responded. “We’re gonna have Apple computers made in this country.” “But you have to have skills to make Apple computers,” O’Reilly said. “We will get the skills and we will develop the skills,” Trump insisted. “We have an incredible population and they don’t have the jobs.” Watch footage from the interview, Bill O’Reilly tonight repeatedly pressed Donald Trump on what message he has for the black community to overcome the perception that he is a racist. In a far-ranging interview on The O’Reilly Factor tonight, Donald Trump expanded on one of his biggest campaign platforms of the presidential race: jobs and the economy. “My message is I’m going to bring jobs back,” the GOP front-runner told Bill O’Reilly. “Right now, we don’t have jobs. China has the jobs. Mexico has the jobs. Japan has the jobs. Everybody has the jobs. The jobs have been taken out of the United States like we're a bunch of babies." O’Reilly asked Trump how he would set about fixing the problem, in particular with African-American communities. There is “the perception in African-American precincts – that you’re a racial guy, you don’t like them,” said O’Reilly. “Is there a strategy that you have or your staff has to negate that?” Trump said that he doesn’t believe that’s true, but that he would send communities “an economic message.” But the problem relates to other ingrained issues, such as income disparity and education, the Factor host pointed out. “If the kid isn’t qualified to do the job and can’t do the work, I mean, you gotta get in the infrastructure of the African-American community,” said O’Reilly. “Well, it is true, and it’s about education, but it’s also about spirit,” said Trump. “A lot of people don’t have spirit.
