Filmmaker Anna Possberg went to the American Southwest expecting "dead rocks." What she found, and captured in the time-lapse "Petrified Life," was a rugged landscape alive with the shifting of sun and stars. This is a podcast on the Southwest Region of the United States and is meant for my third grade class.
Her video is a YouTube sensation. The hilarious flight attendant was in our studio to meet Ellen, and to get one heck of a surprise.

This is the full text version of this very funny but whip-speedy monologue of the Southwest flight attendant who got on the Ellen Show in April of 2014. I do this version for my deaf friends because the automatic closed captioning on the other videos is no good. Update: Yes, I know there are two kinds of peals/peels. I tried very hard to use correct spelling and grammar and punctuation but even with the aid of the computer's spell & grammar checkers, I missed that one. Once a youtube video has been uploaded, it cannot be edited or replaced. It can only be deleted. Is it worth losing this link and all the stats & comments just for an "e"? I don't think so. And who knows? At 30,000 feet - maybe bananas make sounds ...the deaf will never know!

The very same day, remnants from Hurricane Newton dropped months worth of rain across parts of Arizona and New Mexico. Both events caused flooding. I love having art work in my home... Not only to make more home more interesting but because I have a teenage daughter who is an aspiring artist, I want to surround her with items I find not only beautiful but also interesting. I opted for the smaller sizes of these oil paintings... This trio of painting depicts the southwest... out on the plain although it could even look like it is overlooking a river or lake... I really love the bright vibrants colors. This set really can go with just about any scheme... I have beige pink walls that these look lovely on. This is an actual oil painting not a reprint so each one will be different, mine is signed. They arrive well packaged and with zero damage. You can't go wrong with these paintings. #oilpainting #asmork #artwork #amazonre...

Hurricane Newton made landfall in northwest Mexico, and now all of the rain associated with that storm will fall across the United States Southwest. Between 3 and 4 inches of rain will fall in parts of Arizona and New Mexico, which is equivalent to a quarter of that region's rainfall for an entire year! Come along with us as we climb aboard Amtrak’s Southwest Chief for an amazing, 3-day adventure across America. Beginning in Chicago, Illinois, our train will take us over 2,200 miles to Los Angeles, California, on the former route of Santa Fe’s Super Chief streamliner. From Illinois farm country, transitioning to Kansas prairie, we thunder across Colorado, and head over the Rocky Mountains on the steep grades of Raton Pass. Then it’s down through New Mexico on scenic tracks that today are only used by Amtrak. Seemingly frozen in time are relics from Santa Fe’s heyday, including semaphore signals and long stretches of jointed rail, as we pass the historic landmarks of Wagon Mound, Glorieta Pass, and Apache Canyon. Soon we make it to California, running over Cajon Pass before making our gran...
