The root of the word "Holacracy" is holarchy. Holacracy is governance (-ocracy) of the holacracy (hola-), and a holarchy is a hierarchy of increasing wholeness or increasing embrace, where each layer is a whole autonomous entity in its own right, and yet part of a larger whole. Like, for example, our human body is one great example of a holarchy. We have cells, and each cell is autonomous. It's not just directed and controlled from the outside. It has its own governance process, a regulation process; it has its own boundary, and it's an autonomous entity. And yet it's also part of an organ. And our organs themselves are whole autonomous units with their own functions, and yet they're part of our whole system. Likewise in Holacracy, that's how we structure an organization. You end up with each individual role is autonomous. It has real authority and real expectations; it has its own processes. And yet it's also part of a team or what we call a circle. And that's kind of like the organ of the company. It's a whole autonomous entity. It governs itself, it operates, it's a self-regulating, autonomous entity with a boundary, and yet it's also a part of the larger company. And that hierarchy of increasing wholeness -- it's not a hierarchy of the people, it's a hierarchy of the organization's functions -- its roles, its functions, its circles and teams. That autonomous hierarchy with autonomy at every layer is what governs ultimately in Holacracy the whole organization. It is governance of the entire organizational holarchy while honoring the autonomy and yet the interconnectedness of every layer.

Note: (DR JOHN DEE (1527-1608/9) Alchemist, mathematician, astrologer, kabbalist, occultist and magician. Active in British military and diplomatic affairs. John Dee was 'Queen's Intelligencier' to Queen Elizabeth 1 and a close associate of Sir Francis Walsingham, founder of the British Secret Service. In 1582 Dee's crystal, through contact with angelic spheres, revealed the keys to the Enochian language. The angel instructed Dee and his friend Edward Kelly to point to specific letters which when reversed backwards and forwards revealed messages. The crystal was used to fortell events of a political and military nature, for example regarding the fate of the British Empire and the Spanish Armada. Dee's practice of military/political scrying for Walsingham and Queen Elizabeth 1 is a precursor to the 1972-1995 US Military remote viewing program. On March 4th, 40 Saisiyat representatives went to the Legislative Yuan to voice their determination seeking autonomy. The Saisiyat General Assembly was formed two years ago. Although it lacks legal status, the Saisiyat people insist on pushing for autonomy, holding elections as well as preserving their own traditional ceremonies. Through their own strength, the Saisiyat hope to build an autonomous entity recognized by other people.

Islamic State militants consider the Yazidis to be devil-worshippers. The Yazidi faith has elements of Christianity, Zoroastrianism and Islam. Most of the Yazidi population, numbering around half a million, remains displaced in camps inside the autonomous entity in Iraq's north known as Kurdistan.
Of around 5,000 Yazidi men and women captured by the militants in the summer of 2014, some 2,000 have managed to escape or been smuggled out of Islamic State's self-proclaimed caliphate, activists say. The rest remain in captivity.
A young Yazidi woman pleaded (on December 16th 2015) for the United Nations Security Council to wipe out Islamic State after describing the torture and rape she suffered at hands of the militants, who abducted her as "war booty" and held her for three months.

An autonomous area or autonomous entity is an area of a country that has a degree of autonomy, or freedom from an external authority. Typically it is either geographically distinct from the rest of the country or populated by a national minority. Countries that include autonomous areas are often federacies. Autonomous areas can be divided into territorial autonomies, subregional territorial autonomies and local autonomies.
Many autonomous areas lie within two of the world's largest countries, People's Republic of China and Russia.
China (PRC) has five types of autonomous areas.
Found only as divisions of Inner Mongolia. In effect, these are autonomous counties (see below).
The most numerous type of autonomous area in China, found both within and outside the larger autonomous prefectures and regions.
China has 30 prefectures that are autonomous, mostly in the periphery of the country.
A first-level administrative subdivision of China. There are five ARs in China. They are Inner Mongolia AR, Tibet AR, Ningxia Hui AR, Xinjiang Uyghur AR, and Guangxi Zhuang AR. Regardless of the names, these regions are in fact less autonomous than the special administrative regions of China.

Terence Kemp McKenna (November 16, 1946 – April 3, 2000) was an American philosopher, psychonaut, researcher, teacher, lecturer and writer on many subjects, such as human consciousness, language, psychedelic drugs, the evolution of civilizations, the origin and end of the universe, alchemy, and extraterrestrial beings.
Terence McKenna grew up in Paonia, Colorado. He was introduced to geology through his uncle and developed a hobby of solitary fossil hunting in the arroyos near his home. From this he developed a deep artistic and scientific appreciation of nature.
At age 16, McKenna moved to Los Altos, California to live with family friends for a year. He finished high school in Lancaster, CA. In 1963, McKenna was introduced to the literary world of psychedelics through The Doors of Perception and Heaven and Hell by Aldous Huxley and certain issues of The Village Voice that talked about psychedelics.
McKenna claimed that one of his early psychedelic experiences with morning glory seeds showed him "that there was something there worth pursuing." In an audio interview Terence Mckenna claims to have started smoking cannabis regularly during the summer following his 17th birthday.

Note: (DR JOHN DEE (1527-1608/9) Alchemist, mathematician, astrologer, kabbalist, occultist and magician. Active in British military and diplomatic affairs. John Dee was 'Queen's Intelligencier' to Queen Elizabeth 1 and a close associate of Sir Francis Walsingham, founder of the British Secret Service. In 1582 Dee's crystal, through contact with angelic spheres, revealed the keys to the Enochian language. The angel instructed Dee and his friend Edward Kelly to point to specific letters which when reversed backwards and forwards revealed messages. The crystal was used to fortell events of a political and military nature, for example regarding the fate of the British Empire and the Spanish Armada. Dee's practice of military/political scrying for Walsingham and Queen Elizabeth 1 is a precursor to the 1972-1995 US Military remote viewing program. The Enochian language was later studied by Aleister Crowley and US rocket scientist Jack Parsons of the O.T.O. In 1994 the Enochian letters were used as glyphs to operate the arc angle in the MGM film 'Stargate' one year before the US remote viewing program, 'Stargate', was made public. A series of remote viewing drawings were made in the presence of Dr John Dee¹s scrying crystal at the Science Museum, London and experiments were made using Dee's Aztek/Obsidian mirror at the British Museum).

The concept of autonomy is of crucial importance for understanding life and cognition. Whereas cellular and organismic autonomy is based in the self-production of the material infrastructure sustaining the existence of living beings as such, we are interested in how biological autonomy can be expanded into forms of autonomous agency, where autonomy as a form of organization is extended into the behaviour of an agent in interaction with its environment (and not its material self-production). In this thesis, we focus on the development of operational models of sensorimotor agency, exploring the construction of a domain of interactions creating a dynamical interface between agent and environment. We present two main contributions to the study of autonomous agency: First, we contribute to the development of a modelling route for testing, comparing and validating hypotheses about neurocognitive autonomy. Through the design and analysis of specific neurodynamical models embedded in robotic agents, we explore how an agent is constituted in a sensorimotor space as an autonomous entity able to adaptively sustain its own organization. Using two simulation models and different dynamical analysis and measurement of complex patterns in their behaviour, we are able to tackle some theoretical obstacles preventing the understanding of sensorimotor autonomy, and to generate new predictions about the nature of autonomous agency in the neurocognitive domain. Second, we explore the extension of sensorimotor forms of autonomy into the social realm. We analyse two cases from an experimental perspective: the constitution of a collective subject in a sensorimotor social interactive task, and the emergence of an autonomous social identity in a large-scale technologically-mediated social system. Through the analysis of coordination mechanisms and emergent complex patterns, we are able to gather experimental evidence indicating that in some cases social autonomy might emerge based on mechanisms of coordinated sensorimotor activity and interaction, constituting forms of collective autonomous agency.

Interaction Dynamics and Autonomy in Cognitive Systems, a dissertation presented by Miguel Aguilera
ABSTRACT
The concept of autonomy is of crucial importance for understanding life and cognition. Whereas cellular and organismic autonomy is based in the self-production of the material infrastructure sustaining the existence of living beings as such, we are interested in how biological autonomy can be expanded into forms of autonomous agency, where autonomy as a form of organization is extended into the behaviour of an agent in interaction with its environment (and not its material self-production). In this thesis, we focus on the development of operational models of sensorimotor agency, exploring the construction of a domain of interactions creating a dynamical interface between agent and environment. We present two main contributions to the study of autonomous agency: First, we contribute to the development of a modelling route for testing, comparing and validating hypotheses about neurocognitive autonomy. Through the design and analysis of specific neurodynamical models embedded in robotic agents, we explore how an agent is constituted in a sensorimotor space as an autonomous entity able to adaptively sustain its own organization. Using two simulation models and different dynamical analysis and measurement of complex patterns in their behaviour, we are able to tackle some theoretical obstacles preventing the understanding of sensorimotor autonomy, and to generate new predictions about the nature of autonomous agency in the neurocognitive domain. Second, we explore the extension of sensorimotor forms of autonomy into the social realm. We analyse two cases from an experimental perspective: the constitution of a collective subject in a sensorimotor social interactive task, and the emergence of an autonomous social identity in a large-scale technologically-mediated social system. Through the analysis of coordination mechanisms and emergent complex patterns, we are able to gather experimental evidence indicating that in some cases social autonomy might emerge based on mechanisms of coordinated sensorimotor activity and interaction, constituting forms of collective autonomous agency.

Aquino administration wants to finish comprehensive agreement with Moro Islamic Liberation Front as soon as possible, government negotiator says
The Aquino government is targeting to come up with a comprehensive agreement with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) as soon as possible although both sides eye to finish it before the end of the year.
During a joint press conference with MILF chief negotiator Mohagher Iqbal, government chief negotiator Marvic Leonen said when asked about the deadline: "On the GPH [Government of the Republic of the Philippines] we have all intentions to make it as early as possible."
Leonen and Iqbal signed in Malacanang on Monday the Framework Agreement that would end 40 years of armed conflict in Mindanao. President Benigno S. Aquino III, Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Sri Mohd Najib Bin Tun Abdul Razak, MILF Chairman Al Haj Murad Ibrahim and other partners witnessed the signing.
The Framework Agreement contains the roadmap, principles and values that will guide the creation of a new autonomous entity in Mindanao.
President Aquino is expected to issue an executive order creating the Transition Commission mandated to implement the agreement, including the crafting of the Bangsamoro Basic law that replaces the current Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
The crafting of the new law and Mindanao entity is not exclusive to the MILF, Leonen explained, noting that the process is inclusive and a people-driven democratic exercise.
Leonen said he sees an active Transition Commission doing consultations in Mindanao, submitting a Bangsamoro Basic Law (draft) to Congress, and deliberating with the elected representatives.
After the President signs the law, it will undergo full ratification from the people in the area to gain political, legal and constitutional mandate, the government chief negotiator said.
Leonen said he and his counterparts in the MILF are scheduled to meet in Malaysia to discuss the more detailed annexes of the Framework Agreement that will include disarmament and reintegration.
Iqbal, on the other hand, refused to disclose their position on disarmament and reintegration saying the issue will still be subjected for discussions with their counterparts. PND (as/4:57pm)

Moro National Liberation Front part of inclusive transition process, says Leonen
The Aquino administration is inviting the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) to take part in the Transition Commission that will draft the Bangsamoro Basic Law, government chief peace negotiator Marvic Leonen said on Monday.
"Insofar as the government is concerned, there is every intention that the government side of the transition commission will be inclusive and yes, it will include members of the MNLF," Leonen said during the joint press briefing in Malacanang on Monday.

President Aquino's sincerity made Framework Agreement possible, says Iqbal
The Moro Islamic Liberation Front wants to seize the opportunity to complete the Framework Agreement with the government while President Benigno S. Aquino III whom it describes as "a very reliable partner" is in power.
"We have a very reliable partner in the person of President Benigno S. Aquino III. We want to finish everything before his term ends for practical purposes, we want to finish the process," MILF chief negotiator Mohagher Iqbal said in a joint press conference with government chief negotiator Marvic Leonen in Malacanang on Monday.

The Framework Agreement contains the roadmap, principles and values that will guide the creation of a new autonomous entity in Mindanao.
President Aquino is expected to issue an executive order creating the Transition Commission mandated to implement the agreement, including the crafting of the Bangsamoro Basic law that replaces the current Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
The crafting of the new law and Mindanao entity is not exclusive to the MILF, Leonen explained, noting that the process is inclusive and a people-driven democratic exercise.
Leonen said he sees an active Transition Commission doing consultations in Mindanao, submitting a Bangsamoro Basic Law (draft) to Congress, and deliberating with the elected representatives.
After the President signs the law, it will undergo full ratification from the people in the area to gain political, legal and constitutional mandate, the government chief negotiator said.
Leonen said he and his counterparts in the MILF are scheduled to meet in Malaysia to discuss the more detailed annexes of the Framework Agreement that will include disarmament and reintegration.
Iqbal, on the other hand, refused to disclose their position on disarmament and reintegration saying the issue will still be subjected for discussions with their counterparts. PND (as/4:57pm)

Moro National Liberation Front part of inclusive transition process, says Leonen
The Aquino administration is inviting the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) to take part in the Transition Commission that will draft the Bangsamoro Basic Law, government chief peace negotiator Marvic Leonen said on Monday.
"Insofar as the government is concerned, there is every intention that the government side of the transition commission will be inclusive and yes, it will include members of the MNLF," Leonen said during the joint press briefing in Malacanang on Monday.

The Moro Islamic Liberation Front wants to seize the opportunity to complete the Framework Agreement with the government while President Benigno S. Aquino III whom it describes as "a very reliable partner" is in power.
"We have a very reliable partner in the person of President Benigno S. Aquino III. We want to finish everything before his term ends for practical purposes, we want to finish the process," MILF chief negotiator Mohagher Iqbal said in a joint press conference with government chief negotiator Marvic Leonen in Malacanang on Monday.

Aquino to issue an Executive Order creating a Transition Commission upon completion of the comprehensive Framework Agreement
President Benigno S. Aquino III will issue an Executive Order creating the Transition Commission after the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) negotiators finish the annexes of the recently signed Framework Agreement.
The government and the MILF singed on Monday the Framework Agreement aimed at putting an end to 40 years of Muslim rebellion in the south. The event was witnessed by the President, Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Sri Mohd Najib Bin Tun Abdul Razak, MILF chairman Al Haj Murad Ibrahim and other partners.
In a regular press briefing on Tuesday, Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda said the Palace hasn't worked on the EO and will wait until the negotiators have completed the annexes.
During a press conference in Malacanang immediately after the signing of the Framework Agreement, government chief negotiator Marvic Leonen said they initially target to finish the annexes before the year ends or much earlier.
Lacierda also appealed to the skeptics to back the Framework Agreement particularly after the tremendous support given by the Muslim communities in the country.
"You have seen a broad-based support from the Bangsamoro community and while we are celebrating here in Manila for the signing there was also a celebratory mood in Camp Darapanan and in various parts of Mindanao," Lacierda said.
"It shows a broad-based support for the Framework Agreement and we have always said this: let us give peace a chance."
The Palace official also clarified the financial support of the Aquino administration for Mindanao particularly the transition for a new autonomous entity.
The government allocated P21 billion for the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) for 2012, Lacierda said. The President likewise mentioned an P8.5 billion fund called the Transition Investment Support Plan for Mindanao during Monday's event.
Lacierda said the money will be used to fund broad-based projects such as electrification, construction of seaports, fishing ports day care centers and other programs. PND (as/3:02pm)

Malacañang said on Tuesday that the rehabilitation work to improve the facilities of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), particularly Terminal 1, is ongoing to ensure that the country's premiere international airport is at par with world standards.
In a press briefing in Malacañang, Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said the government is fully aware of the renovations that have to be done on the airport premises to ensure the comfort and safety of travelers and has taken these concerns of the riding public to "heart."
"We are certainly continuing to rehabilitate the NAIA...the rehabilitation plans are being reviewed right now. There are engineering details that need to be finalized and approved. So tuloy-tuloy po ang gagawin nating renovation sa NAIA 1," Lacierda said.
"We are always cognizant of the concerns of travelers and certainly we'll take this to heart. But what we are saying is rehabilitation work to improve the situation of NAIA 1 are ongoing," he added. PND (rck)

Not everyone is so pessimistic, however. Many experts believe that superintelligent machines, far from being a threat, will be our allies. There will be major breakthroughs in science and health, where specialists working alongside computers do better than either a human or a machine on their own. Others, most notably Google futurist Ray Kurzweil, are looking forward to a time when superintelligence will greatly enhance human capacities by means of computer implants that improve the brain and the body. Ultimately we could merge with our superhuman creations, defying ageing and death.
