Shpongle are Simon Posford (aka Hallucinogen) and Raja Ram (one half of The Infinity Project and founder of the indo-prog/raga rock group of the 60's/70's Quintessence). Their sound is a mix of mainly eastern ethnic samples and western contemporary psychedelic synth music.
Posford is responsible for the synth and studio work while Raja Ram contributes with flute arrangements and visionary input.
The Dorset Perception is a tribute to a book, "The Doors of Perception" by Aldous Huxley, which you can read here:

Dorset (
/ˈdɔrsɨt/) (or archaically, Dorsetshire), is a county in South West England on the English Channel coast. The county town is Dorchester which is situated in the south. The Hampshire towns of Bournemouth and Christchurch joined the county with the reorganisation of local government in 1974. The ceremonial county comprises the area covered by the non-metropolitan county, which is governed by Dorset County Council, together with the unitary authorities of Poole and Bournemouth. Dorset covers an area of 2,653 square kilometres (1,024 sq mi); it borders Devon to the west, Somerset to the north-west, Wiltshire to the north-east, and Hampshire to the east. Around half of Dorset's population lives in the South East Dorset conurbation. The rest of the county is largely rural with a low population density.
The county has a long history of human settlement and some notable archaeology, including the hill forts of Maiden Castle and Hod Hill. A large defensive ditch, Bokerley Dyke, delayed the Saxon conquest of Dorset for up to 150 years. In 1348 the black death came ashore at Melcombe Regis and spread throughout England, killing a third of the population. Dorset has seen much civil unrest: the first trade union was formed by farm labourers from Tolpuddle in 1834, the Glorious Revolution was instigated in an ice-house at Charborough Park, and the Duke of Monmouth and his rebels landed at Lyme Regis. During the English Civil War (1642–1651) angry yokels fought with Cromwell's forces near Shaftesbury. The naval base at Portland has had a pivotal role in the nation's defence for many years, and with Weymouth and Poole was one of the main embarkation points on D-Day.

Now here is a magical place. We recently took our trailer to Dorset for a couple of weeks with the intention of exploring some new bike rides. On this ride I take you from our base camp along country roads that crisscross the Dorset plains and heathland. We pass through the town of Wareham. Then we turn sharp left into Nutcrack Lane on our way to the ancient Corfe Castle, one of Britain's most iconic and evocative survivors of the English Civil War, partially demolished in 1646 by the Parliamentarians. We ride to the town square in Corfe and surprise a group of students about to visit the castle. Then we loop around the castle site and more lanes and villages before winding down with a visit to the castle site itself. Whilst you exercise to this ride watch out for the falling tree and see if you spot it! -

Corfe Castle Dorset
Now here is a magical place. We recently took our trailer to Dorset for a couple of weeks with the intention of exploring some new bike rides. On this ride I take you from our base camp along country roads that crisscross the Dorset plains and heathland. We pass through the town of Wareham. Then we turn sharp left into Nutcrack Lane on our way to the ancient Corfe Castle, one of Britain's most iconic and evocative survivors of the English Civil War, partially demolished in 1646 by the Parliamentarians. We ride to the town square in Corfe and surprise a group of students about to visit the castle. Then we loop around the castle site and more lanes and villages before winding down with a visit to the castle site itself. Dorset cliff collapses on to beach
A cliff in Dorset crumbles in dramatic fashion on to the beach below. Fisherman Sam Haskins, 24, caught the moment on camera, near Westcliff in Portland, Dorset, on Wednesday. Shpongle are Simon Posford (aka Hallucinogen) and Raja Ram (one half of The Infinity Project and founder of the indo-prog/raga rock group of the 60's/70's Quintessence). Their sound is a mix of mainly eastern ethnic samples and western contemporary psychedelic synth music.
Posford is responsible for the synth and studio work while Raja Ram contributes with flute arrangements and visionary input.
The Dorset Perception is a tribute to a book, "The Doors of Perception" by Aldous Huxley, which you can read here:

Now here is a magical place. We recently took our trailer to Dorset for a couple of weeks with the intention of exploring some new bike rides. On this ride I take you from our base camp along country roads that crisscross the Dorset plains and heathland. We pass through the town of Wareham. Then we turn sharp left into Nutcrack Lane on our way to the ancient Corfe Castle, one of Britain's most iconic and evocative survivors of the English Civil War, partially demolished in 1646 by the Parliamentarians. We ride to the town square in Corfe and surprise a group of students about to visit the castle. Then we loop around the castle site and more lanes and villages before winding down with a visit to the castle site itself. Whilst you exercise to this ride watch out for the falling tree and see if you spot it!

It wasn't to be and the villages remain inside the Lulworth Ranges. This is what remains of them. It is a peaceful place to visit. Worbarrow Bay is beautiful and quiet.

Ringling Museum Complex, The South West Coast Path is England's longest waymarked long-distance footpath (and one of the longest in the UK) and a National Trail. It stretches for 630 miles (1,014 km), running from Minehead in Somerset, along the coasts of Devon and Cornwall, to Poole Harbour in Dorset. Since it rises and falls with every river mouth, it is also one of the more challenging trails. The total height climbed has been calculated to be 114,931 ft (35,031 m), almost four times the height of Mount Everest.[1] The final section of the path was designated as a National Trail in 1978.[2] Many of the landscapes which the South West Coast Path crosses have special status, either as a National Park or one of the Heritage Coasts. Like many, I’ve harbored the dream of experiencing the English countryside for years. In my mind were images of rolling green hills dotted with quaint villages and Downton-Abbey-style estates. So on my last trip to London, I decided to get out into the English countryside to finally see it for myself. And you know what? It was not far from my imagination.
The region I visited is called Dorset. And please note, I misspoke in the video it is SOUTHWEST of London!!
And Sherborne, one of the many small towns there, is known for having a complex history dating back to Roman times with an impressive array of architectural wonders. And I’d love to come back to explore more of this place, preferably not in the dead of winter!
There is more to see in Sherborne that didn’t make it into my video. Most notable is the Sherborne Castle, Sherborne Lake, and the Sherborne School. These are all beautiful sites to see. Bring your walking shoes!
It really could not have been easier to get to Dorset from London. For Sherborne, jump on a South West Train from Waterloo Station to Sherborne. The train stop is right in town letting you off not far from the abbey. This makes an easy escape for a daytrip or a long weekend.
The antique shop I visited is called, Robin Wheatley Antiques. And that was Robin himself who so kindly let me throw a camera in his face. Also, the restaurant, The Green is easy to locate right in the middle of town.
I have to thank Visit Britain for facilitating my getaway into the countryside.

A Tourists guide to places a bit off of the beaten track in Dorset, I drive past this mill about 70 times a year, but there is no real parking place, so I had to be careful of passing traffic. The sight of places like this makes life worth living! And hopefully as the years go by Dorset, England will become more of a tourist destination and more and more effort will be put in to make everything quaint and beautiful.

This week I'm in Devon in the coastal town of Woolacombe.
It may sound like a mental name for a town and in fact it is, the literal meaning of Woolacombe is Wool-a-combe. The town was built years ago by the Normans, a local family run building contractor managed by Martin Norman.
It may come as a bit of a surprise that Woolacombe's golden, sandy beach pre-dates the town itself and it stretches for literally mile... a mile. And it's the beach which has put Woolacombe on the map as a surfers' haven.
After a day buffing your board and riding the waves you'll probably want a drink and there is nowhere better, locally, than the Red Barn. Whether you want a traditional pub meal or just a satisfying pack of cheese and vinegar crisps, the Red Barn has it all making it a popular choice for the long-haired, hoody-wearing surfers.
No trip to Woolacombe would be complete without a visit to the Holiday Shop where you can buy ANOTHER holiday. And if that's not exciting enough ...ummm, that's it.
Getting to Woolacombe is easy, if you leave now you should be there by later today. Thanks to zero taxation on all alcohol following Devon's stand as an independent state, a pint of locally grown Swedish cider at the Red Barn costs just €1, interest-free credit is available at all beach-side car parks.

It stretches for 630 miles (1,014 km), running from Minehead in Somerset, along the coasts of Devon and Cornwall, to Poole Harbour in Dorset. Since it rises and falls with every river mouth, it is also one of the more challenging trails. The total height climbed has been calculated to be 114,931 ft (35,031 m), almost four times the height of Mount Everest.[1]

This week I’m in Wells, in Somerset, not to be mistaken with Wells in Somerset.

You may think that this picturesque location is a town but it’s not a town, it's a city and that’s because it has a cathedral. In fact it’s the smallest city in the UK.
Wells Cathedral is actually relatively new, it was built in 2009. The architect, Mrs Maureen Tucker gave the finished building it’s “aged” look by dabbing the brick work with tea bags.
Many have accused Well’s residents of being xenophobic and intolerant of other cultures which is why it may surprise you that Wells was the first place in the UK to regular produce curry. The first one they brought out in England was the vegetable bhuna, other dishes followed in subsequent years.
No visit to Wells would be complete without a visit to Bakwell Manor, the former home of the late Mr Kipling. Guest to the manor house often report seeing the ghost of the famous baker who, in life, was exceedingly good at making cakes.
