Con coreografía de Michel Fokine, música de Ígor Stravinski, libreto de Stravinski y Alexandre Benois, y decorados y vestuario también de Alexandre Benois. Fue compuesto durante el invierno de 1910-11 y estrenado en París, Francia, en el Teatro del Châtelet por los Ballets Rusos de Serguéi Diáguilev, el 13 de junio de 1911 y bajo la dirección musical del Pierre Monteux. Piano: Paul Jacobs New York Philharmonic Director: Zubin Mehta Petrushka es una marioneta de paja y serrín tradicional rusa de carácter bufo y burlón, lo que en el mundo latino equivaldría al Polichinela, que cobra vida y desarrolla la capacidad de sentir. La obra se caracteriza entre otras cosas por el llamado acorde de Petrushka, consistente en un acorde de do mayor y fa sostenido mayor tocados simultáneamente (politonalidad), que suele acompañar la aparición del personaje de Petrushka casi a modo de leitmotiv. Escena I En 1838, en la Plaza del Almirantazgo de San Petersburgo, se celebra la feria de carnaval. En la plaza hay un teatrino donde el Mago presenta un espectáculo. Al abrirse el telón se ven tres muñecos que, a la orden del Mago, comienzan a bailar. El Moro y Petrushka están enamorados de la Bailarina, pero esta claramente prefiere al Moro. Petrushka en un ataque de celos agrede al Moro y el Charlatán detiene la presentación. Escena II Encerrado en su cuarto por el Charlatán, Petrushka protesta por la crueldad con la que es tratado por demostrar sus sentimientos. Aparece la Bailarina y Petrushka, emocionado, le expresa su amor con brusquedad. La Bailarina se marcha asustada por la rudeza de Petrushka dejándolo sumido en la tristeza y la desesperación. Escena III En la habitación del Moro. Aunque el Moro también está prisionero, se encuentra feliz con su situación. Entra la Bailarina y el Moro la halaga, ella está complacida por el trato y se deja abrazar por él. En ese momento entra Petrushka que amenaza al Moro, éste se defiende con su cimitarra y hace huir a Petrushka. Escena IV La feria de carnaval en la plaza de San Petersburgo. Las personas han continuado con las celebraciones sin darse cuenta de lo que sucede dentro del teatrino. La fiesta se interrumpe cuando sale por el teatrino Petrushka perseguido por el Moro. El Moro mata a Petrushka. La gente se asusta pensando que se ha cometido un asesinato, llega la policía e interroga al Mago, pero en el piso solamente hay un muñeco de trapo. La fiesta llega a su fin, todos se van retirando y el Charlatán se lleva a Petrushka hacia el teatrino pero del techo aparece el fantasma de Petrushka amenazador.

The remaining population was emancipated by King Charles I in 1520. Spain possessed Puerto Rico for over 400 years, despite attempts at capture of the island by the French, Dutch, and British. The Spanish Crown, in an attempt to keep Puerto Rico from gaining its independence, revived the Royal Decree of Graces of 1815. The decree was printed in three languages — Spanish, English and French — and it fostered the immigration of hundreds of non-Spanish European families. The relationship between Puerto Rico and the United States dates back to the Spanish-American War, in which Spain, under the terms of the Treaty of Paris of 1898, ceded the island to the United States. Puerto Ricans became U.S. citizens in 1917, and the United States Congress legislates many aspects of Puerto Rican life. However, the islanders may not vote in U.S. presidential elections. Popeye manages to free himself (with the help of a can of spinach!) and rescue Princess Olive, while J. Wellington Wimpy does what he does best... eat hamburgers! As a reward, he is crowned a prince. Prince Popeye the Sailor Man! Trivia: Features the little sailor who sings, "Good Evening Friends." This cartoon's title would be reused as an 11-minute cartoon which aired on CBS March 3, 1979 as part of Hanna-Barbara's The All-New Popeye Hour! These cartoons were produced after Paramount took ownership of Fleischer Studios, which originated the Popeye cartoon series in 1933. All cartoons are one-reel in length (6 to 10 minutes). The first 14 shorts (You're a Sap, Mr. Jap through Cartoons Ain't Human) are in black-and-white. All remaining cartoons, beginning with Her Honor the Mare, are in colour. Unlike the Fleischer Studios entries, the director credits for these shorts represent the actual director in charge of that short's production. The first animator credited handled the animation direction. The numbers listed next to each cartoon continue the numbering of the Fleischer entries. The black-and white Popeye cartoons were sold to television distributor Associated Artists Productions (A.A.P.) in 1956, and the colour cartoons were sold to A.A.P. the following year. The original opening and closing Paramount titles were cut for TV syndication. By the early 2000s, the Popeye shorts were owned by Turner Entertainment, whose Cartoon Network broadcast restored versions of many of the shorts as part of an anthology series called The Popeye Show. These shorts are noted below. Popeye the Sailor -- All's Fair at the Fair # 151 December 19, 1947 Bluto gets Popeye into trouble with Olive by pushing her into a taffy-pulling machine at the local fair. Two different prints were reviewed-- one had a smoothly matched A.A.P. title music track and the other had the original Paramount titles. This is one of few Popeye cartoons filmed in Cinecolor, due to the Technicolor strike. Dave Tendlar's animation crew got the credit for animation, but this cartoon was actually animated by Tom Johnson's crew.
