"Out of Touch" is a 1984 song by Hall & Oates. The lead single from their 1984 album Big Bam Boom, it was their last Billboard Hot 100 number one, topping the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks in December 1984. It became the duo's fourteenth consecutive top 40 hit since 1980.
The song often segued from "Dance on Your Knees" which is the opening song of the album. The music video also contains the "Dance on Your Knees" intro, which segues into an edit of the 12" remix version.
"Out of Touch" was covered by Uniting Nations in 2004. Uniting Nations' version peaked at number seven on the UK Singles Chart and remained in the Top 75 for 21 weeks. The vocals on the recording were done by vocalist and session artist Jinian Wilde.
The music video for the song features actors Paul Spicer, Charleene Rena, Hayley-Marie Coppin, Sophie Lovell Anderson and an unnamed woman playing strip poker.
The 12" vinyl included the tracks:
Daryl Hall and John Oates, known more commonly as Hall & Oates, are an American musical duo from Philadelphia.
Daryl Hall is generally the lead vocalist of the pairing, and also plays a wide range of musical instruments. John Oates also plays a range of instruments, but primarily plays electric guitar and provides backing vocals as well as occasional leads. The two also write most of the songs they perform, either separately or in collaboration. They achieved their greatest fame from the late 1970s to the mid-1980s with a fusion of rock and roll and rhythm and blues, which they dubbed "rock and soul". Critics Stephen Thomas Erlewine and J. Scott McClintock write, "at their best, Hall & Oates' songs were filled with strong hooks and melodies that adhered to soul traditions without being a slave to them by incorporating elements of new wave." While much of their reputation is due to the sustained pop-chart run in the 1980s, they continue to record and tour, and remain respected by various artists for their ability to cross stylistic boundaries.
Uniting Nations were a British dance act formed in Liverpool in 2004. It achieved chart success across Europe. The British dance act was originally made up of Paul Keenan and Daz Sampson as band members, songwriters and producers. After the hit "Out of Touch", which was the debut and most successful single of the band, Craig Powell joined in as frontman of the band singing at the Uniting Nations live performances. However most of the studio recordings on the Uniting Nations debut and only album One World released in 2005 on Gut Records were done by vocalist and session artist Jinian Wilde including for the band's two initial UK hits "Out of Touch" and "You and Me", whereas the The band's third hit, "Ai No Corrida", a remake of the 1980 Chaz Jankel song (that was covered by Quincy Jones in 1981 on The Dude) featured the vocals of Laura More. Craig Powell left in March 2006, after the release of the One World album with the band releasing various recordings until 2008.

Daryl Franklin Hohl, professionally known as Daryl Hall (born October 11, 1946), is an American rock, R&B and soul singer, keyboardist, guitarist, songwriter and producer, best known as the co-founder and lead vocalist of Hall & Oates (with guitarist and songwriter John Oates).
In the 1970s and early 1980s, Hall scored several Billboard chart hits and is regarded as one of the best soul singers of his generation. Guitarist Robert Fripp, who collaborated with him in the late 1970s and early 1980s, has written, "Daryl's pipes were a wonder. I have never worked with a more able singer." Since late 2007, he has hosted the web television series, Live from Daryl's House. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004.
Daryl Franklin Hohl was born in Pottstown, a Pennsylvania borough 40 miles (64 km) from Philadelphia. His parents each had a background in music: his father was a professional singer and his mother was a vocal coach. He is of German descent. He started recording while still a student at Owen J. Roberts High School, from which he graduated in 1965. In college at Temple University in Philadelphia, he majored in music, while continuing to record, working with Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff as both an artist and a session musician. During his first semester at Temple, in the fall of 1965, he and four other white Temple University students formed the vocal harmony group the Temptones. They were popular additions to the largely black Philly soul scene, defeating both The Ambassadors and The Delfonics in a contest at the Uptown Theater. The Temptones recorded a handful of singles for Arctic Records, produced by Jimmy Bishop. While performing at the Uptown theatre, Hall formed creative affiliations with such artists as Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, and many other top soul singers of the 1960s.

Shake it up is all that we know Using the bodies up as we go Waking up to fantasy The shates all around aren't the colors we used to see Broken ice still melts in the sun And times that are broken can often be one again We're soul alone And soul really matters to me Take a look around You're out of touch I'm out of time But I'm out of my head when you're not around Reaching out for something to hold Looking for a love where the climate is cold Manic moves and drowsy dreams Or living in the middle between the two extremes Smoking guns hot to the touch Would cool down if we didn't use them so much We're soul alone And soul really matters to me Too much

Sleep, my baby
The planets line up in your mind
As you sleep, my baby
Your soul's in line you?ll be just fine
So sort out
Guess what I?m out of touch
You?re out of reach, my darling
You?re safe in sleep
Could I leave you? Step by step
You?re out my reach
I felt pain once
Hurt you, out of touch
Turn away now
I hear you cry, you?re lost in time as I
Start to fly now
Your soul is mine I?ll be just fine
I soared up
Got swallowed out of touch
You?re out of reach, my darling
You?re safe in sleep
Could I leave you? Step by step
You?re out my reach
I felt pain once
Put you out of touch
Put you out of touch
I?ll apologize
Guilty as no surprise
You?re out of reach, my darling
You?re safe in sleep
Could I leave you? Step by step
You?re out my reach
I felt pain once
Put you out of touch
Put you out of touch
