Julian Leon Huppert (born 21 July 1978) is a Liberal Democrat politician in the United Kingdom and Member of Parliament for Cambridge since 2010. He succeeded the previously elected David Howarth, who stood down after one term.
The son of two academics (his father is the Australian-born geophysicist Herbert Huppert), Huppert has lived in Cambridge since he was a small child. Having attended The Perse School in the city, Huppert went on to study at Cambridge University, completing a BA (2000) and then a PhD (2005) in Biological Chemistry at Trinity College. He was elected a Junior Research Fellow of Trinity in 2004, and became a fellow of Clare College in 2009 (the College at which the previous Liberal Democrat MP for the city, David Howarth, was a member). He is also a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC) and the Institute of Physics (MInstP). He worked as a research scientist studying the structures of DNA as well as tutoring students.
During his eight years serving as a County Councillor for Cambridge's East Chesterton area, Huppert helped open Brown's Field Community Centre, chaired the Cambridge Traffic Management Committee and served on the Regional Assembly. His interests in internationalism, the UN and human rights have led him to his position on the National Council of Liberty, formerly the National Council for Civil Liberties, from which he has since stood down.
Mark John Reckless (born 6 December 1970) is a British Conservative Party politician who is the Member of Parliament for Rochester and Strood, elected at the 2010 general election.
He graduated in PPE from Oxford University; he also has an MBA from Columbia Business School. He trained as a barrister at the College of Law, gaining an LLB, and was called to the Bar in 2007.
Reckless apologised for missing a budget vote because he was too drunk to vote during a late night sitting of the House of Commons.
On 10 December 2010, Reckless voted against the coalition government on raising tuition fees.
Reckless is rated as one of the Conservatives' most rebellious MPs.
Reckless is the grandson of Henry McDevitt, a Fianna Fáil TD for Donegal East in the Dáil Éireann from 1938 until 1943. On 1 October 2011 he married Catriona Brown at Westminster Cathedral, with a reception held at the Palace of Westminster.
I said why, did ya ever even try?
infiltrate but never find
Just fallin' slowly
You left me so damn lonely
steppin' back to when we rhymed
Maybe recreate the times
You were shy but happy
And we were fine and dandy
Here we are again, oh
But backseat love don't move me
I'm just far too choosy.
Chorus:
Stop, drop, go through, open up the letter
Don't you want to make it any better
Baby don't you ever wonder why
Back up, it's not that I think you're clever
I just know that we could do much better
Baby, don't you ever wonder why
I was never by your side
Sigh, take a deep breath and rewind
Bite your tongue and let it slide
Got to see a doctor
Maybe that will shock ya
Love don't die, no
Especially when it penetrates and leaves you blind
And shaking mad and reckless
Got you feeling breathless
Here we go again
The backseat love don't move me
I'm just way too choosy
I'm just way too choosy
Stop, drop, pull through, open up the letter
Don't you want to make it any better
Baby, don't you ever wonder why
Back up, it's not that I think you're clever
I just know that we could do much better
Baby, don't you ever wonder why
