Montreal (i/ˌmʌntriːˈɒl/;French: Montréal,pronounced: [mɔ̃ʁeal]) is the largest city in the Canadian province of Quebec. It is the second largest city in Canada and the 26th largest in the Americas. Originally called Ville-Marie, or "City of Mary," it is named after Mount Royal, the triple-peaked hill in the heart of the city. The city is on the Island of Montreal, which took its name from the same source as the city, and a few much smaller peripheral islands, the largest of which is Île Bizard. It has a distinct four-season continental climate with warm to hot summers and cold snowy winters.
In 2011 the city had a population of 1,649,519. Montreal's metropolitan area had a population of 3,824,221 and a population of 1,886,481 in the urban agglomeration, with all of the municipalities on the Island of Montreal included. The 2014 estimate of the population of the metropolitan area of Montreal is 4.1 million.
French is the city's official language and is the language spoken at home by 56.9% of the population of the city, followed by English at 18.6% and 19.8% other languages (in the 2006 census). In the larger Montreal Census Metropolitan Area, 67.9% of the population speaks French at home, compared to 16.5% who speak English. Montreal is one of the most bilingual cities in Quebec and Canada with 56% of the population able to speak both English and French. Montreal is the second largest primarily French-speaking city in the world, after Paris.

Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? is the eighth album from indie pop band Of Montreal, released on January 23, 2007. The album was written, performed, and recorded by Kevin Barnes, with assistance from friends and family: prominent Elephant Six members Bryan Poole, Jamey Huggins and Heather McIntosh, as well as Barnes' wife Nina Twin, and daughter Alabee Blonde. Credits also feature Georgie Fruit, a glam rock alter ego of Barnes.
Barnes has described the album as a concept album, detailing his transformation from Kevin Barnes into Georgie Fruit. Georgie Fruit exists as Kevin Barnes' alter ego, which he will assume for the final half of the album, as well as the two subsequent LPs, Skeletal Lamping and False Priest. According to "Labyrinthian Pomp," Georgie Fruit is a "dark mutation for my demented past time." The transformation takes place during "The Past Is a Grotesque Animal," the 12-minute long "turning point" of the album. In addition, the album namechecks many things commonly associated with glam rock, such as drugs, art and fashion; "The Past Is a Grotesque Animal" alludes to Edward Albee's play Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and specifically mentions Georges Bataille's novella Story of the Eye.
Polyvinyl Record Co. is an American independent record label based in Champaign, Illinois and San Francisco, California.
It has released notable records by of Montreal, Japandroids, Braid, Mates of State, American Football, Xiu Xiu, Deerhoof, and many others.
Polyvinyl Record Company was formed by Matt Lunsford and Darcie Knight in 1994, while the two were still in high school. Its origins were a result of the growing music scene in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, when Lunsford and Knight created a publication called the Polyvinyl Press. As the publication grew, the connections with independent, label-less artists grew, and the July 1995 issue of Polyvinyl Press included a joint 7" EP with Back of Dave and Walker. Lunsford and Knight then began to selling records at local shows for friends' bands which had virtually no distribution. To transition the Polyvinyl name from fanzine to label, the last issue of Polyvinyl Press (published in May 1996) included a compilation titled Direction – a 20-track album that documented the mid-‘90s midwestern D.I.Y. scene in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois.
The past denotes period of time that has already happened, in contrast to the present and the future.

Welcome to Montreal, Canada. This extraordinary city, which began life as a French colony in the 1600s, is now a stunning metropolis combining old-world architecture with modern dashes. When Mark Twain visited Montreal in the 19th century, he was so taken by its many churches that he nicknamed it “The City of 100 Bell Towers.” These numerous buildings are often part of Montreal sightseeing; marvel at the imposing stone façade of Christ Church Cathedral, or stand beneath the great arched ceiling of the beautiful Notre Dame Basilica. You can spend days exploring the city’s many sacred spaces, but Montreal tourism is so much more than that; if you’re a foodie, you’re in luck, because the residents of Montreal adore a good meal, whether it’s poutine from a streetside bistro or fresh produce f...

Travel video about destination Montréal in Canada. Canada's second largest city, Montreal is a fascinating blend of European charm and the American way of life. In Vieux-Montreal, narrow lanes and small houses recall the past and also the lifestyle of the original settlers. In the old fire station at Place d'Youville - one of the oldest markets in Montreal -- is the Centre d'Histoire in which the 350 year cultural history of the city is on display, from the development of the Irokese Settlement, its prolific fur trade, and right up to today's shining, energetic Metropolis. Although Montreal is located 1,600 kilometres from the open sea, it owes its wealth to its waterways which stretch from the country's interior, to the ocean. A trip on the Saint Lawrence River with the pleasure boat, B...

He'd explain to you but it would take too long
Why he is right and everybody else is wrong
He'd endeavor friend to make your mind correct
He'd try but he thinks it would take too long too long
It's probably simple math
that keeps him on his elevated path
While talking to him it is very rare
to sense that he's acknowledging you're even there
Or else he'll speak as if you should be taking notes
But fears that you might steal
one of his brilliant quotes
There's no idea that you could add
that he wouldn't claim to have already had
He used to be a really decent guy
before his insecurities enslaved him
Now his ego seems to be raging uncontrollably
Destroying every friendship that he's ever had
I don't even like to think about him it's so very sad
Only a boy of three would dare act so egregiously
Now the kind of places he's most often found
Are rife with pedants running topics into the ground
And the company that he is known to keep
Are all self important bores
that put you right to sleep
Yes I'd rather be hung
