Ridge Road may refer to:
In Ireland:
In the United States:
Trail Ridge Road is the name for a stretch of U.S. Highway 34 that traverses Rocky Mountain National Park from Estes Park, Colorado in the east to Grand Lake, Colorado in the west. The road is also known as Trail Ridge Road/Beaver Meadow National Scenic Byway,
Trail Ridge Road is closed during the winter, and often remains closed until late spring or early summer depending on the snowpack. It requires access to Rocky Mountain National Park even for local residents.
From Kawuneeche Visitor Center at the park's Grand Lake Entrance, Trail Ridge Road follows the North Fork of the Colorado River north through the Kawuneeche Valley. There are several trailheads along this section of the road, notably the Colorado River Trailhead, which is the western terminus of the road segment closed during the winter.
The road crosses the Continental Divide at Milner Pass (elev. 10,758 ft or 3,279 m) and reaches a maximum elevation of 12,183 ft (3,713 m), near Fall River Pass (elev. 11,796 ft or 3,595 m). Near the highest point on the road is another pass, Iceberg Pass (elev. 11,827 ft or 3,605 m).
A national park is a park in use for conservation purposes. Often it is a reserve of natural, semi-natural, or developed land that a sovereign state declares or owns. Although individual nations designate their own national parks differently, there is a common idea: the conservation of 'wild nature' for posterity and as a symbol of national pride. An international organization, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and its World Commission on Protected Areas, has defined "National Park" as its Category II type of protected areas.
While this type of national park had been proposed previously, the United States established the first "public park or pleasuring-ground for the benefit and enjoyment of the people", Yellowstone National Park, in 1872. Although Yellowstone was not officially termed a "national park" in its establishing law, it was always termed such in practice and is widely held to be the first and oldest national park in the world. The first area to use "national park" in its creation legislation was the US's Mackinac Island, in 1875. Australia's Royal National Park, established in 1879, was the world's third official national park. In 1895 ownership of Mackinac Island was transferred to the State of Michigan as a state park and national park status was consequently lost. As a result, Australia's Royal National Park is by some considerations the second oldest national park now in existence.
A ridge or mountain ridge is a geological feature consisting of a chain of mountains or hills that form a continuous elevated crest for some distance. Ridges are usually termed hills or mountains as well, depending on size. There are several main types of ridges:-
For the park in Manitoba, see Riding Mountain National Park.
Rocky Mountain National Park is a national park located in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, in the north-central region of the U.S. state of Colorado. It features majestic mountain views, mountain lakes, a variety of wildlife, varied climates and environments—from wooded forests to mountain tundra—and easy access to back-country trails and campsites. The park is located northwest of Boulder, Colorado, and includes the Continental Divide and the headwaters of the Colorado River.
The park has five visitor centers. The park headquarters, Beaver Meadows Visitor Center, is a National Historic Landmark, designed by the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture at Taliesin West.
The park may be accessed by three roads: U.S. Highway 34, 36, and State Highway 7. Highway 7 enters the park for less than a mile, where it provides access to the Lily Lake Visitor Center which is closed indefinitely. Farther south, spurs from route 7 lead to campgrounds and trail heads around Longs Peak and Wild Basin. Highway 36 enters the park on the east side, where it terminates after a few miles at Highway 34. Highway 34, known as Trail Ridge Road through the park, runs from the town of Estes Park on the east to Grand Lake on the southwest. The road reaches an elevation of 12,183 feet (3,713 m), and is closed by snow in winter.

An epic western USA road trip with my family from California to Colorado This time I went on the road with my family to discover the west of the USA. Within two weeks I tried to put as many national parks on the route as possible :D. Whenever possible I would get some shots with my A7s or DJI Phantom 3 Pro, however, when traveling with friends I usually get a lot more time to film. After all, it was an amazing road trip, we had perfect weather all the way and saw so many amazing places. One drawback was that I wasn't allowed to film with my drone in most of the national parks, so I would get outside of the park borders to get some shots.. Hey Overlanders! Last weekend (Sept 7th and 8th), I took the HauntedBC.ca guys (Andrew & Ray) with Dillon and Maury up Molybdenite Ridge. It was my second time there and I enjoyed it even more than last year. The views are stunning, the weather changes every 15 minutes and that shelf road along the ridge is thrilling to drive. We camped overnight at the saddle and the wind was blowing hard (see Andrew's tent in the video). The lake was stunning and I managed to drive the Jeep up above the lake for some fantastic photos. You may notice that this video has some additional effects. Let me know what you think! Until next time! ~ Paul.
I decided after finally getting my Canon 7D this week to go back up to Rocky Mountain National Park and reshoot the locations I had earlier with the XH-A1 and the Letus. This footage has only been corrected bit for over exposure. Think of this as a test of the Canon 7D, more then a short. I hope to shoot a much longer version sometime in the weeks to come. :) Camera: Canon 7D, 1080p 24fps, 18mm-135mm f3.5-f5.6 Editing and CC: Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 Music: Imogen Heap, Cumulus. *Using Adobe CS3 so far to edit has been doable, but pain staking. Even on my 64-bit machine I still have horrible lag. Hopefully I can get the upgrade to CS4 soon to make the process much less cumbersome. ;)

This is a little piece about Levi's GranFondo, a 103 mile open road ride with professional cyclists. On October 1st of 2011, 7,500 riders participated in the third year of this event. This is an account of that day.
There are several nice waterfalls on Little Ridge Creek which is located near Turner's Crossing in the Chattahoochee National Forest. The hike to the falls is about a half mile and mostly along an old logging road. This video was shot in November 2009 after a heavy rainfall. Exact directions to the falls may be found at http://www.jjanthony.com/waterfalls/falls/littleridge1.html Music by Kevin MacLeod (Evening Fall). Filmed with HPX170. Edited with Edius 5.

Rocky Mountain National Park. Deep snow on Trail Ridge Road (12,183 feet above sea level) made for huge snow banks along the road side this year. When we arrived at the Alpine Visitors Center, workers were still shoveling snow to uncover the building.

Starting P4 in Super Stock CR125 class, Hegar (#4) dropped out due to a wheel coming off so I shuffled up to P2. In front of us are the european shifter engines and behind are about 30 sprint stock and super stock CR125s. JG (#7) and Mike (#17) got a really good draft off the euro karts which are a bit faster and drove away from the rest of us for awhile. I caught up to JG for a little bit due to traffic but his engine was really boogieing and he was able to make a gap again, then he had mechanical issues and was forced to retire from the race. I battled it out with the rest of the Super Stocks for the lead and finished 3rd place. 2nd race I was wrecked into on the first lap and though I didn't go off track a lot of the field passed me by. Worked my way back up through most of the field ...
