ADI Standards check - complete guide for driving instructors and learner drivers

I explain the ADI standards check in great detail for both driving instructors and learner drivers. Every single box on the marking sheet (SC1) of the new DVSA standards check is covered as I explain exactly what the examiner is looking for from you. This video will help learners who want to see if their instructor is teaching properly but it also an invaluable resource for anyone who has a standards check coming up or just wants to polish up on their instructional skills and techniques. Here are few points I would like to make about this video: - I got the boxes at the top of the sheet mixed up. The PRN is your ADI number. The registration number is your car registration. It was the certificate number that I was thinking of which isn't recorded but is 8 digits long. Well I did say they often get mixed up and I don't think did too badly for a one hour unscripted video! - The new pricing structure I mentioned isn't in place yet. For now you still pay £300 for your badge and that covers your standards check but this is set to change in the future. You'll also be able to book a date and time that you choose with your pupil and that's likely to be when they introduce the price changes, if they ever do. - If the price change detailed above happens then you'll be able to request a standards check at any time you like. Seeing as you're paying for each one they won't mind! If you get a grade B and wanted an A then you can just retake it. Be careful though as you could then fail it and would kick yourself for shooting yourself in the foot. If you could kick yourself after shooting yourself in the foot. - The Supervising examiner (SE) is now called the DTAM (Driver Trainer Assessment Manager) and the quality assessor is the DTQAM (Driver Trainer Quality Assessment Manager) - The new manoeuvres I mentioned are designed so that they can be done in more places, opening up the test routes so that more driving can be done. As I recorded this video, test routes have to include quiet areas such as housing estates for reversing around a corner and doing a turn in the road. By taking these quiet areas off the test routes it will allow the examiner to see the pupil driving on a wider range of roads. This doesn't mean that the older manoeuvres won't still be taught, they just won't be assessed. - The examiners would prefer to not see briefings done on the standards check unless absolutely necessary. They want to see you out and about teaching, not sitting talking about a diagram - You can if needed travel to a garage at the start of your SC to check the tyre pressures due to the extra weight. You MUST make the pupil aware of the extra weight and explain how a passenger could effect the cars handling in front of the examiner.
